MAKING YOUR FIRM CHOICE

Making your firm choice of university can be daunting! We asked two Student Ambassadors from the University of Suffolk to share their experience of making that decision. Tia is a third-year Law student, who comes from Gloucestershire. Emma comes from Bedfordshire and is in her second year, studying Diagnostic Radiography.

How did you feel when faced with making your firm University choice? Tia: It felt like a very big decision and I felt a lot of pressure to make sure I made the right choice. Emma: I was nervous about making the decision because I knew that the university I chose would become a huge part of my life

What tips do you have for year 13 students who are about to make their choices? Tia: Pick the place that is right for you and not your family and friends. There can be a lot of pressure to make a decision that makes everyone else happy and in doing so you can forget about yourself. Also, look beyond the league tables and make a list of what is important to you. I wanted a community feel and lots of new opportunities and experiences Suffolk was the one that best matched my criteria. Emma: I took into account the distance from home (not too close and not too far!), the course structure and the local area. In the end, I choose Suffolk, as I loved the beautiful waterfront campus and the course offered the most time out on placement.
