WELCOME MESSAGE

MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT Dear Colleague, I would like to encourage all our members and sponsors to attend what plans to be an exciting Annual Conference. We look forward to having an educational and interactive Conference at The Ritz-Carlton in Toronto. The theme of this year’s conference is Orphan Diseases in Gastroenterology with a focus on conditions that we encounter in our practice but are not always addressed at other meetings. We have an excellent group of speakers who will enlighten us with their knowledge and approach to these diseases. In addition, we will be reviewing highlights from the St. Michael’s Endoscopy Conference. This will be followed an update on the OMA Section on Gastroenterology AGM, rounding out the Sunday Scientific Sessions with our Annual General Meeting for the members. In celebration of the multicultural composition of our province and most importantly, the diversity of our membership, this year’s theme will focus on South Asian cultural influences and cuisine. I look forward to a tasty and flavorful President’s Welcome Dinner on Friday and our Annual Gala celebrating the colors and vibrancy of South Asian music and gastronomy. As your President, I look forward to interacting with you all at this wonderful weekend we have planned. Look forward to seeing you there. Best regards, ONTARIO ASSOCIATION OF GASTROENTEROLOGY

ANNUALWELCOME GENERAL MEETING MESSAGE MESSAGE FROM THE CONFERENCE CHAIR Dear Colleague, On behalf of the OAG Annual Conference Committee, we invite you to join us for our 22nd Annual Conference at the ever-popular Ritz-Carlton Toronto Hotel. We hope to deliver a program that is clinically relevant and informative to our practice. The theme of this year’s Conference is “Orphaned Diseases That We See Often”. The Organizing Committee has identified a handful of conditions that we encounter increasingly often nowadays but are seldom covered in other Conferences. Our goal for Saturday’s program is to enlighten delegates through our Keynote speakers who are experts in these areas who will share their experiences with us. We also have allowed ample time for questions and discussions to allow interactive opportunity to our member audience. On Sunday, we are bringing back the very popular session, “Highlights of the St. Michael’s Endoscopy Conference”, to our member audience. We will follow this session with expert discussion surrounding the biological management of moderate to severe IBD: How do you pick? When do you change? And when should you change, as we now have a variety of biological therapy options to choose from. This expert discussion will be followed by the OMA Section on Gastroenterology Annual General Meeting led by our Past President, Dr. Iain Murray. We will conclude with our Annual General Meeting and look forward to your valuable input. A big component of our Conference is creating opportunities for our colleagues and friends to meet and interact. We have planned a sumptuous meal for the President’s Welcome Dinner on Friday. We have organized a “Bollywood” inspired themed Gala on Saturday evening to bring some joy and fun dancing and we will be entertained by a superb live band for a memorable evening as usual. We will be presenting the OAG Distinguished Service Award to Toronto’s own Dr. John Kempston during our Gala. Lastly, we would like to thank our partners and sponsors immensely for their generous and unrestricted support because our Association and our Conferences could not exist and be successful without them. We encourage all of our members to interact with them throughout the Conference so our partners and sponsors can see the value in continuing their support. The Organizing Committee looks forward to seeing you at the Conference. Best regards, ONTARIO ASSOCIATION OF GASTROENTEROLOGY

Princess of Wales Theatre, 300 King Street West, Toronto, ON Ain’t Too Proud is the electrifying new musical about the life and times of The Temptations, the greatest R&B group of all time (Billboard Magazine 2017).
