We ! made it! Dear Clients & Friends, The snow is slowly but surely melting. There is hope on our horizons. The birds have returned to their nests and the trees are even thinking about blooming. All in all, winter is over and spring is finally here. I don’t know about the rest of you, but I cannot wait to spend my days outside! My camera craves spring time colors and summer time sun as much as I do, so bring on the flowers and flip flops. I’m ready! And, of course, the end of winter is not all there is to celebrate. I have had the very happy honor of seeing this little business of mine turn ONE! My first year exceeded every single expectation I had and I cannot put into words my gratitude to everyone who helped make that happen. I am so excited to see what treasures and beauty 2015 has in store - and I hope you’ll be a part of it with me Bring on the sunshine!

Shachmut Photography: a new look

! ! ! ! ! !

The most common question I got last year in terms of sessions was “What should we wear?” But the SECOND most common question I got was if I offered a newborn first-year package. I didn’t, at the time. But now I do! Now, for families who would like, you may purchase a first-year package that includes a full new-born photo shoot, a mini-session used for any milestone age, and a full 1-year session. Check out the website or contact me for more details!

After a bit of playing around with ideas, I’ve developed a new logo that I’m happy to share with everyone now. My simple three-ring design is just that, simple. But, it’s also symbolic. Those three circles are different sizes and hues each their own, but of the same. Just like my girls of course. Furthermore, they fit together in a casual knot, which I hope can help convey that I am also a casual person who values engagement and connection with and between by clients. I feel like it is very ME - casual, simple, and connected. Keep an eye out for the new design it’ll be showing up here and there soon!

Which of my photographs is my favorite? The one I’m going to take tomorrow. Imogen Cunningham

Spring Mini! Sessions! I offer mini sessions twice a year - traditionally in the spring and in the fall. I Love mini sessions for a lot of reasons. I love them because I get to see so many faces in one day. I love them because it is non-stop action and some of my favorite pictures have come from mini sessions. If you’ve never participated in one, they are 20 minutes sessions and we shoot to get a variety of poses, props, and expressions from you and yours. You can bring the whole family or set up a session for one. To grab a spot, just shoot me an email or give me a call and let me know your time preference! I can’t wait!

What to wear?

It’s the most common question I hear. What should I wear? Well, I love helping clients think through some things and helping them come up with inspiration that will fit their style and their session. While every session is unique, here are some of my favorite tips. 1.Be Comfortable!- You’ve got to feel good in what you’re wearing. This is especially true for the little ones. Nobody is happy when they are itchy, hot, scratchy, or cold. 2. Coordinate, Don’t Match - Gone are the days of everyone wearing the exact same thing in pictures. While we want complimentary colors, don’t be afraid to mix it up. A good rule of thumb is to pick a common neutral or two and then 1-2 accent colors. 3. Accessorize - Using hats, scarves, belts, shoes, bags, hairpieces and jewelry can add a lot of fun to your images and provide a lot of different looks without a lot of effort. Kids can find some of the best stuff, so don’t forget the shoes when your planning your look. 4. Keep it classic - we want your pictures to have a timeless feel for them and you can help achieve this by avoiding clothing that has text, large logos, or characters on them. Stick with solids, patterns, and textured clothing. 5.Layers & Textures- layering clothing and using textured clothing like sweaters, corduroy, or fur brings visual interest to your pictures. If the weather is cool, this doubles as a nice way to keep warm!

!

And of course remember that I am more than happy to help design what to wear boards for you and yours based on your preferences. All you have to do is ask!

Let’s Connect I love connecting with all of you over social media. I am happy that most of you are already fans of the Facebook page and that has served me well as a tool to share work as well as make announcements. In order to reach a wider audience, I’ve recently branched out and embraced Google+ I know, its the new kid on the block, but I have found it to be a really nice platform and would love to connect with any of you there as well! For those of you who are Instagram junkies like me - I invite you to follow me there as well. Yelp! As I continue to branch out, I am always trying to bolster my online presence. One of the best tools I’ve found for letting people know about Shachmut Photography (other than your awesome referrals) is Yelp.

Yelp is a site that allows customers to review businesses and if you are interested in sharing what your experience has been, then I would welcome you to write a few words so that others can know what to expect!

As always, sharing your thoughts and experiences is completely optional, but if you would like to help me out - you can do so here:
