ART CAN Graphic Design I Professor Syron Spring 2015
_process
The intent of this poster was to advertise the Department of Art and Art History within the Hixon Lied College for Fine and Performing Arts. The process of creating the poster ‘ART CAN’ began with the idea of a blank canvas, and the idea to ‘create your art here +’ , visually similar to an upload space on a website. Through many iterations the text changed, along with the image. The phrase ‘ART CAN’ came from a play on the popular phrase ‘Art is’, an open-ended statement that invites the user to interact with the art and fill in the blank with what they personally believe art is. ‘Art Can’ utilizes the same idea of viewer interaction, asking the viewer what they believe art is capable of. The blank canvas is offered again to the imagination of the viewer to complete the phrase. The imagery of the poster began as a blank canvas, changing shape and context over the course of iterations. The final design features a person holding the blank canvas. Originally, the white of the canvas bled into the white of the background, extending the idea that the ideas can leave the canvas and affect the world around it. The inner canvas was added to provide another level of visual interest to draw the viewer to the poster. Along with the poster, I also chose to create my own design for the Art and Art History Department in the form of a small logo.

TECHNOLOGY KILLED REALITY Graphic Design I Professor Syron Spring 2015
_process
The design of this poster focused on the idea that our dependence on technology has taken over our personalities. It’s rare to walk down the street and not find someone completely immersed in their phone. Sharing our lives on social media has become an obsession. The happiest moments of our days come in the form of little red notification dots that tell us how many people have seen or liked our posts. Everything we do is for the likes. Everyday moments of our lives are centered around the idea that we might be able to post it for other people to see. The Idea that the ‘Like’ has taken over everything we do and who we are is the central focus of the poster. A man’s face is flipped upside down and his eyes become the thumbs up ‘like’ that has become a pillar of our society. The word like’ bleeds into his face from the background. ‘Beautiful Reality’ is written at the bottom of the poster. Doing things for the likes has become the reality, and as we see it, it is beautiful.

STUDENT TECHNOLOGY University of Nebraska Lincoln Graphic Design, Software Instructor, Web Design and Development, Product Design and Management 2012 - 2015
_process As a student at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, I worked for an office called student technology. Our primary purpose was to learn software and in turn be able to teach that software to students and help them with any projects they might have. During my time I had the opportunity to teach myself Photoshop, Maya, Blender, HTML, CSS, Illustrator, InDesign, After Effects, and Premiere. Working closely with Graphic Designers, I was able to develop skills in graphic design that I still carry with me today. I also created 30 + tutorials, workshops and videos during my time there. The final project included here is a product design project that I worked on with members of my project team, acting as project manager.

new york + new delhi Urbanism Professor Karle Spring 2015
_process
Through analysis of Urban fabrics and planning of the cities of New York and New Delhi, a hybrid map of the city was created. Three perspectives of this new city fabric were then represented imagining the cultures, urban environment, street conditions, people and focal points of the newly created city. These illustrations are a result of these explorations.
