On Saturday in Independence Hall, Party Leader the Hon. John Briceno received an overwhelming and crystal clear mandate from the real owners of the Party, the rank and file supporters and members from all corners of the country. Enough of this nonsense, they said in one voice – we must engage the real enemy and engage them now, under the leadership of John Briceno, or we will be in Opposition for another 5 years come 2013, a n d t h a t i s u n a c c e p t a b l e. T h e Party Leader was instructed in no
uncertain terms to do whatever is necessary to take the Party forward, to chart the way to Belmopan. The people demanded action and they were heard. To t h o s e m e m b e r s o f t h e Executive who were not present; to those who have been perceived as threatening the unity and forward movement of the Party; to those who sat in their corners while the work of rebuilding the Party was carried out - a message was also sent. No longer will their actions be tolerated. If they are not willing
to work and willing to heed the call of the people, they will be replaced. As one Constituency Chair man from the North put it succinctly – they can have their say, but we will have our way. Our people in Independence Hall that day only issued through clear directives that which has been echoed by tens of thousands of PUP supporters all across this nation – The Party must unite. The energies of the Party have too long been directed at the wrong enemy. The UDP is the enemy and they
must be engaged and hammered for thwith. W hile we have been distracted, the UDP has been conducting war against our people from one corner of this country to the other, victimizing them, causing them to suffer. The Party can only be true to its mandate of serving the people if it unites immediately and moves forward to Belmopan, vanquishing the enemy of the PUP and the enemy of the people and the nation, Dean Barrow’s UDP. Myles on George Street and was h e a d i n g t owa r d s h i s h o u s e o n Fredrick's Alley on the nor th side of the Swing Bridge shortly before 10 pm on Wendesday night w h e n h i s a t t a cke r, b e l i e ve d t o have been stalking him, rode up beside him and fired one shot that blasted his left ear at close range. It appears that the homicide was a deliberate, carefully timed attack, because Thompson's mother, Laver n, handed over to police, his cellular phone littered with death threats from an unknown number. Police are studying the details of those messages to see if they can crack the case. T hompson would have had two m a j o r even ts o ccur r i n g i n October: he was going to turn 18 on the 17th and on the 27th, he would have completed one year (Continued on pg. 3)
Another Baby Dies Another Youth Murdered
Yohani Montejo Confidence in the quality of medical care provided at public hospitals under the Barrow Administration has been fast eroding and with another repor t of a baby dying due to perceived negligence by the health system in Orange Walk, it will only get worse.
