Coulsdon Manor is a beautiful parkland course which enjoys spectacular views over London. The course itself contains a wide variety of trees and in the Autumn months gives a magnificent display of colours.

Whether you are playing the course or relaxing on the terrace you are sure of a peaceful, relaxing time.

The course is not the longest but offers a challenging test of parkland golf requiring accurate shots from tee to green in order to score well.

The hotel offers a relaxing environment for refreshments before or after your round and the hotel has many function rooms that can be hired for various occasions.

At Coulsdon Manor we welcome applications to join the club as well as offering pay and play golf. We also have various society packages for larger groups.

TheCourse occupies the estate land which surrounds the old Coulsdon Court house which has now been greatly extended to form the Coulsdon Manor Hotel.

HISTORY

In 1922 Coulsdon Urban District Council acquired the bulk of the estate and recruited Harry S Colt, who designed many courses including Sunningdale and Royal Lytham & St Annes, a regular British Open venue to design and lay out the land as a municipal golf course with Coulsdon Court as the club house.

Little is known about the golf club at that time except that it was a private club (and that Leslie Cotton, brother of Henry, was the Pro at the time). When the Second World War started in 1939 the club was disbanded.

The Coulsdon Manor Hotel as it’s known today sits in Old Coulsdon, a downland village that has its origins in pre-historic times.

From the late 18th Century through to the early 20th Century, Coulsdon was a typical old-time village and Manor encompassing a - thousand acres of farmland and woodland; presided over by the local Squire and Rector with its little group of craftsmen supporting the needs of its farms and cottages.

Golf has been played at Coulsdon Manor since the early 1900’s on a course designed by the legendary Harry S Colt. It is testimony to his work that even with the advances in golf club technology little has altered in the layout to this day yet it still presents a first class test of golfing ability to the high and low handicapper alike.

THE COURSE

The course is laid out at the top of the hill in Coulsdon having some commanding views over the surrounding areas.

Each hole is interesting and challenging in its own right, with no two holes the same.

The course has a number of challenging holes. Our signature hole is the picturesque 6th, with its elevated tee, any shot that is too far left will find its way out of bounds. Accuracy is key!

At 6014 yards from the white tees, it is not long by todays standards, but don’t drop your guard. Accuracy off the tee is vital to ensure you have the perfect angle to the flag.

Despite the lack of length, careful consideration must be given to each and every shot. Subtle changes in elevation make club selection very challenging. Once you find the putting surface more subtle undulations will keep you on your toes until the ball finds the bottom of the cup.

Visitors are asked to respect our rules, dress code and standard golfing etiquette to ensure their visit runs smoothly.

Although handicap certificates are not mandatory, we do prefer golfers to be of a sufficient standard and also to be competent with regards to the rules of golf so that you may enjoy your round to the fullest and also not to inconvenience other players out on the course.

Holders of the County Card scheme may receive a discounted green fee. Please enquire with a member of the pro shop staff when making your booking.

The Manor House offers great comfort and a welcoming atmosphere in which to socialise and relax after a round of golf or simply just to meet up with friends.

Originally built in 1850, the manor house has been tastefully restored to its former glory. The beautiful country house retains many of its original features in addition to tastefully refurbished bedrooms.

The terrace bar and adjacent Orangery Brasserie provides everything from light meals and snacks with an informal atmosphere in the daytime through to something a little more special in the evenings. A choice of four function rooms including the large Blenheim and Manor House suites, both with their own terrace and private bar facilities, each accommodating up to 100 guests.
