APRESENTAÇÃO A Faculdade de Medicina da Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais (UFMG) é uma das mais tradicionais instituições de Educação Superior do Brasil. Abriga os cursos de graduação de Medicina, Fonoaudiologia e Tecnologia em Radiologia, totalizando mais de 2,3 mil alunos matriculados. Na pós-graduação são 10 programas, com aproximadamente 700 alunos. A unidade está situada no Campus Saúde da UFMG juntamente com a Escola de Enfermagem e o complexo do Hospital das Clínicas, em área de 104.000 m². A infraestrutura de serviços do campus conta com a Biblioteca Baeta Vianna, Restaurante Universitário, academia de ginástica, cantinas, livraria e agências bancárias. Diariamente circulam pelo campus cerca de 15 mil pessoas. O corpo docente da Faculdade é formado por mais de 500 professores. São 150 funcionários técnico-administrativos em Educação, e cerca de 100 profissionais contratados e bolsistas. Integram a Faculdade 12 departamentos acadêmicos, dois órgãos complementares, centros acadêmicos e de pesquisas, setores e seções administrativas.
PRESENTATION The School of Medicine of Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG) is one of the most traditional higher education institutions in Brazil. It offers undergraduate courses in Medicine, Speech Therapy and Technology in Radiology, gathering more than 2,300 students enrolled. There are ten post-graduation programs with approximately 700 students. The building is located in the Health Campus of UFMG in which are also the School of Nursing and the teaching hospital complex (Hospital das ClĂnicas), in an area of 104,000 m². The campus infrastructure includes the Baeta Vianna Library, University Restaurant, a gym center, canteens, a bookstore and bank branches. Around 15.000 people visit the campus daily. The teaching staff of the School is formed by more than 500 teachers. There are 150 Technical and Administrative professionals in Education, and about 100 others hired and scholarship holders. The Faculty comprises 12 academic departments, two complementary bodies, academic and research centers, sectors and administrative sections.
ENSINO A Faculdade de Medicina da UFMG busca possibilitar um ensino que una conhecimentos práticos e teóricos, formando profissionais críticos e responsáveis socialmente. No curso de Medicina - 320 vagas anuais - , os alunos são capacitados a prestar assistência integral à saúde em diferentes níveis de atenção, nas áreas clínicas e cirúrgicas, ambulatoriais e de urgência/emergência, com ações individuais e coletivas. Em Fonoaudiologia - 50 vagas anuais - , a formação combina excelência em ensino, extensão, pesquisa e clínica nas grandes áreas de audição e voz, motricidade orofacial, linguagem e saúde coletiva. O Curso Superior de Tecnologia em Radiologia - 80 vagas anuais - forma profissionais aptos a exercer a elaboração, princípios técnicos e práticos, gestão e empreendedorismo em serviços de diagnóstico por imagem, radioterapia, medicina nuclear e áreas relacionadas à radiologia industrial. A seleção é por meio do Exame Nacional de Ensino Médio (Enem) e o preenchimento das vagas é pelo Sistema de Seleção Unificada (Sisu).
TEACHING The School of Medicine of UFMG seeks to unite practical and theoretical knowledge in its teaching, forming critical and socially responsible professionals. In the Medicine Course - 320 vacancies each year -, students are skilled to provide comprehensive health care at different levels of care, in clinical and surgical areas, outpatient and emergency/emergency, in individual and collective actions. In Speech Therapy - 50 vacancies each year -, the qualification combines excellence in teaching, extension, research and clinical practice in the large areas of hearing and voice, oro-facial motricity, language and collective health. The Superior Course of Technology in Radiology - 80 vacancies each year - enables professionals to exercise the elaboration, technical and practical principles, management and entrepreneurship in services of diagnostic imaging, radiotherapy, nuclear medicine and related areas to industrial radiology. The selection is through the National High School Test (Enem) and vacancies are filled by the Unified Selection System (Sisu).
PESQUISA A produção científica da Faculdade de Medicina da UFMG conta com dezenas de laboratórios e com o financiamento de importantes parceiros nacionais e internacionais, como Fapemig, Finep, Capes e CNPq , além da Pró-reitoria de Pesquisa da UFMG. Para estimular o desenvolvimento e
a colaboração em atividades de pesquisa, o Centro de Pesquisa da Faculdade de Medicina da UFMG se dedica a promover a integração, organização e divulgação dos trabalhos realizados na instituição. As áreas de concentração das mais de 100 linhas de pesquisa são: Ciências Fonoaudiológicas Cirurgia e Oftalmologia Infectologia e Medicina Tropical Medicina Molecular Patologia Promoção de Saúde e Prevenção da Violência Saúde do Adulto Saúde da Criança e do Adolescente Saúde Pública Saúde da Mulher

RESEARCH The scientific production of the School of Medicine of UFMG counts on dozens of laboratories, with the financing of important national and international partners, such as Fapemig, Finep, Capes and CNPq, as well as the UFMG Research Office. In order to stimulate development and collaboration in research activities, the Research Center of the School of Medicine of UFMG is dedicated to promote the integration, organization and dissemination of the work conducted in the institution. EXTENSÃO Com o maior número de ações de extensão da UFMG, o Centro de Extensão da Faculdade de Medicina conta com cerca de 350 ações anuais. Os programas de extensão desenvolvidos visam à interação educativa, cultural e científica entre Universidade e sociedade, e permite aos estudantes a elaboração da práxis do conhecimento acadêmico, por meio do trabalho interdisciplinar fundamentado no contato com a realidade brasileira e regional. A comunidade, por sua vez, participa, efetivamente, desse processo e pode interferir na atuação da Universidade.
EXTENSION With the largest number of extension actions of the UFMG, the Extension Center of the School of Medicine is responsible for near 350 actions per year. The extension programs developed at the institution seek the educational, cultural and scientific interaction between the University and society, and allows students to elaborate the practical fraction of academic knowledge through interdisciplinary work based on the contact with Brazilian and regional realities. The community, on the other hand, participates, effectively, in this process and can interfere in the work of the University.
