“THE EXHIBITION OF HUMAN” Confucianism Museum year
Design Studio 2010
site
Lion Rock Park, Wong Tai Sin, HK
supervisor Dr. Joseph F. Wong Confucianism is a religion that is very straight forward as people can train themselves to be ‘Gentleman’, and help improving the society. However, the reality is not as simple as what Confucianism believes. In the society, people inevitably have to face different situations and forces which cause ups and downs in their lifelong journey.

“AWAKENING JOURNEY” Shopping Mall year
Design Studio 2011
site
Happy Valley, HK
supervisor Mr. Kenneth Tang ‘Awakening journey’ is an experience assisting people to find their soul step by step by walking through one place to another. The mall creates a series of scenes to reflect life. It reminds people, especially in Hong Kong, life should not be boring and just repetitively working. Life can be full of surprises, meaningfulness and even unexpected. The journey unveils these elements composing series of stories which allow people to explore more their inner characters, their hidden souls.

“CARGO-TECTURE” Urban Renewal year
Design Studio 2012
site
Ap Liu Street, Sham Shui Po, HK
supervisor
Dr. Charlie Q.L. Xue
collaborator Rex Yau, Chu Kin Pong In order to solve the housing problem in Ap Liu Street, Cargotecture is the solution. Hong Kong has played a major entrepot role for global trade for decades. Yet, many statistics indicate that Hong Kong’s trade growth lags substantially behind that of Mainland China. It is possible that the role of Hong Kong as an entrepot to the Mainland will diminish over time. Therefore, cargo containers become potentials to be recycled and utilized to reconstruct the community with distinctive features.

“TIME TUNNEL Street Furniture year
Design Studio 2012
site
Kwun Tong Promenade, Kwun Tong, HK
supervisor
Dr. Charlie Q.L. Xue
collaborator
Rex Yau, Chu Kin Pong
Light is just like time; time changes, light alters. By experiencing the movement of light, people can be told about the change of time. As the site is located between past old district - Kwun Tong and future new district - Kai Tak, through the alteration of light, people are then notified the transition of the society and time. The street furniture bridges the old district and the new. The old district represents the past and also the sunset, beautiful yet fading away. The new district represents the future and sunrise, optimistic and energetic. By the openings, light will be captured directing to the old district at the time of sunset and the new at the time of sunrise.

Non-Linear Form year
Design Studio 2012
site

supervisor Dr. Charlie Q.L. Xue The design is composed of two-dimensional and threedimensional elements representing different forces. Four threedimensional planes are placed responding to the main forces at different edge angles allowing the forces to intersect and interact through the site. Not only forces are being weaved, but also the lights and shadows, which being manipulated to weave in giving an ever-changing gesture to the design.

“MAKING HUAQIANGBEI”
Aformal Academy, SZ/HK Biennale year
Workshop 2016
site
Huaqiangbei, Shenzhen
instructor Mr. Jason Hilgefort, Mr. Joseph Grima The workshop aimed to research into the possibility of Huaqiangbei (HQB) on the new mode of economy “Innovation” and understand its ecology of electronics market. By bringing the makerspaces into an incubator, an organic network is spontaneously created. The incubator not only provides private spaces, including markets, retails and makerspaces, but also adds missing public spaces, for example, a museum and an exhibition centre. The mixture of spaces designs a new HQB culture - “Innovation Mile”, which is pride and sustainable.
