he illustrious legacy of Fabergé, a name synonymous

with the finest jewelry, dates back to the era when Peter Carl Fabergé crafted 50 ingenious Imperial Easter Eggs for the Romanov family from 1885 to 1916.

Rebirthed in grandeur on September 9, 2009, Fabergé is now

a wholly-owned subsidiary of Gemfields Ltd, a global leader in

responsibly sourced colored gemstones. Today, Fabergé commemorates ‘A Life in Colour,’ drawing inspiration from its rich history

to create original masterpieces that embody the Maison’s heritage, present, and future.

As an intriguing testament to their exclusivity, the anonymous owner of the $2.2 million Game of Thrones dragon egg embarked on the maiden Fabergé Spotlight Voyage in June.

Rolls-Royce La Rose Noire Droptail is inspired by the allure of the

Black Baccara rose, an intense, velvet-like flower that originates in

France and is beloved by the mother of the commissioning family. The dark pomegranate color of its petals appears almost black in shade,

but in direct light, a red, pearlescent shimmer is revealed on the dark surface. These two colors form the primary palette of La Rose Noire Droptail. The first red shade is named ‘True Love’ in recognition of the romance the client wished to capture in this commission. The

darker tone is named ‘Mystery,’ inspired by the mysterious nature of the rose, which appears to change color when viewed from different angles. Indeed, it was the essence of true love and the mystery of exploration and travel that captivated the clients throughout the commissioning process.

The exterior coachwork is finished in the lustrous and complex

True Love red. As the Black Baccara rose, the motor car also appears to change color depending on the point it is examined from. To

achieve this rich variation, surface finish specialists developed a

completely new paint process, which was perfected over 150 careful

iterations. A base coat, the color of which is a closely guarded secret, was followed by five layers of clear lacquer, each blended with a slightly different tone of red.

The duotone theme extends into La Rose Noire Droptail’s

brightwork. The dark finish, named Hydroshade due to its liquid quality, was developed specifically for this project. These pieces

In his first groundbreaking book, Eat to Beat Disease: The New Science

of How Your Body Can Heal Itself, Dr. William Li gives us the science and strategy of using food to boost the natural defense systems in the body.

“The answer to doing a better job at preventing disease is in food,” he

tells us. “Drug treatments alone cannot keep us healthy.”

Eat to Beat Disease is the big reveal; it’s everything you want to know

about how your body responds to food and how your body can heal

itself. And with prolific passion and mastery of the science of food, Dr Li continues the conversation and reveals more discoveries for weight loss, health, and longevity in his latest book, Eat to Beat Your Diet. Bringing us in a new

direction with his science of eating well, Dr. Li delivers

the knowledge to make better decisions about what to eat

every day for better health..

Considering his expertise, people are always asking Dr. Li the burning

question, “What do you eat?”

Dr. Li describes his approach as a food approach, meaning he eats lots

of food. He values and loves food, enjoys his meals, and has a healthy relationship with food, all of it.

His preference is what he refers to as a MediterAsian diet, a fusion of

Mediterranean and Asian foods. Lush with whole foods, and because of the plentiful coastal regions, there is an abundance of healthy seafood options in the MediterAsian cuisines, creating a palate for optimal health. Even

more, these regions are well known for their Blue Zones, areas of the world where people live longer, age better, and are overall healthier.

Dr. Li does not villainize food but instead celebrates food and wants

people to understand how to choose foods that promote a healthier body and mind. Eating foods in harmony with the seasons, choosing fresh, local foods when possible, and preparing food in ways that are less damaging to your body, such as stir-frying, stewing, and steaming, are all part of his food approach.

In all his work, Dr. Li enlightens us on what it means to eat to be the best, brightest, and healthiest version of

yourself. A true gift to everyone seeking more health and a better life, Dr. Li brings us the science of hundreds of foods that have the power to transform and restore health and improve our lives. We are lucky to have him in our corner.

“There is now a new paradigm in the arena of food and health, and the world will be a much healthier place because if it,” – Marci Moreau.

THE HOUSE THAT CHEESE BUILT BY MIGUEL LEAL

Miguel Leal came to the U.S. penniless as a teenager, speaking almost no English; he

literally slept in the boiler room of a Wisconsin cheese factory for months before he was caught. Through hard work, grit, and ingenuity, Leal would go on to launch his own

business. He is widely credited with introducing Mexican cheeses to the U.S. market and

grew his company to a multimillion-dollar success story that defined an industry. Yet, like many successful entrepreneurs, Leal’s great successes were matched by personal failures: the end of a marriage, trouble with law enforcement, and the deeply felt sense that there must be something more to life than great wealth.

hy didn’t I think of this sooner? I

moved my business into a little house. What better way to work comfortably and give my client’s a practical,

and beautiful visual on what can be done in their own

home. In the fall of 2022 after several years in a gorgeous Southend loft I decided to move the five of us to a “full of potential” little house in Myers Park on Selwyn Ave.

I have been driving by this little house since, and this

will age me, the early 80’s. Fast forward to 2022 and it

was on the market. I pulled the trigger. The location was

perfect, the interior, not so much. Circa 1930, it was full

of character with it’s original front door and plaster walls

but that was about it. Extremely dated I knew I needed to

gut it and create something that not only I wanted to work

in every day, but a place that showcased the craftsmanship of my favorite sub contractors and vendors.

As I do with all my projects, I immediately started creating my

own design plan with every detail, then began ordering things, knowing my new windows would take forever. With a game plan in place the tear out began. One of my favorites, John Waller arrived with his sledge hammer.

By the Spring of 2023 it was transformed. Walls out and

relocated, a completely new bathroom and my new British

inspired (thanks to the amazing vision of deVOL kitchens out

of Loughborough in the UK) kitchen. I went as far as painting

the entire walk up attic with it’s vaulted ceiling white and loaded it with shelving for the perfect storage place for all our client’s curtains, pillows and lamps. Two offces, an entry with dining room turned conference area and the main reason I purchased

this place - a large garage with work space over top filled with

sample books and a very long, lay it out, table for space to work on projects.

This entire little home is all me. The style I love, the colors I

love, loaded with different textures from it’s ribbed marble tile

mixed with bottle green Mexican tile and an eye catching brass

vanity in the bathroom. The kitchen, well, have to say, is by far

my favorite space. Impact Design built my cabinets and painted

them a most gorgeous dark green while Harkey Tile topped them with Carrara Marble. I was really focused on the details and

wanted the perfect counter edge, backspace and fittings in,

you guessed it, unlacquered brass. A new but vintage feeling

wall paper, and a brass shelf by Josh Utsey that is visible

through the new “porthole” we cut in the wall to the dining

room. Lastly I found an amazing old tile from a sidewalk in France to place all this pretty on. Sounds crazy fancy and

expensive ? Well the fact that it’s only about an 8 x 10 size

room I was able to do all this ! Small but mighty in style for sure.

The entire little 1500 square foot home is full of inspi-

ration, plastered fireplace by Polly Doolittle, new, custom large metal window by 2dash1 and some pretty amazing

wall papers and accessories. Driving down Selwyn this deep charcoal painted house, perfectly landscaped by Pothead does catch your eye I have heard !

What I love the most, the cozy feeling and being such a

visual person I love nothing more than surrounding myself

with a vibe and look that helps my creative side with every project I work on. From a warehouse in 1998, to a big ole

building on East Blvd, to a Southend loft and now a house, I know I’m done moving. This is the best one of all.

impressive piano skills, and her adventurous spirit, her warmth and sincerity

immediately shine through. Her charming, blended accent adds a delightful touch to her narrative as she opens up about her unique journey. Born in New York and

raised in England, it was the latter where her musical career took root. "I spent six

months completely in training, singing lessons, got into the choir, and really haven't shut up since, to be honest," she says.

Costin’s musical journey, an ascending

crescendo of triumphs, not only saw her

name grace several Billboard hits but also featured collaborations with esteemed artists such as Vanessa Carlton, Mya,

and Joe Cocker. However, her path to

success was far from smooth, marked by challenges that ranged from pressures to

her. She reflected, "It was hard for me to

to gain control over navigating the career I wanted versus the one others expected. In the long run, that's the beauty of being an

artist — it's your voice, your words, your story that truly resonates. The more you

try to fit into a mold, the further you stray from being true to yourself."

Her journey led to the founding of C&R

Productions, where she could unapologetically embrace her authentic self and make a significant impact in the music industry.

It's a lesson she carries with her, inspiring others to follow their own paths, embrace

their individuality, and find their authentic voices. During our conversation, as we

explore her music career and touch upon

her 2015 music video shot at the Vanderbilt Mansion, a location rich in history, it

becomes evident that Costin embodies this philosophy. She delves into societal pressures and the arranged marriage expecta-

tions that weighed on Vanderbilt women in

the past, and when asked about the insights these historical experiences offer women today, she underscores the importance of defining oneself in the present. "There's

always going to be family expectations,"

she says. "You stand in truth for the things that you want so that you can actually be happy, because life is pretty short."

Her involvement with the American Heart Association in 2016

is yet another testament to her unwavering commitment to philan-

thropy. "I have a responsibility to give back," Costin says. Serving as a legislative ambassador for the American Cancer Society, she

has been a tireless advocate for causes close to her heart. And her philanthropic passion extends beyond well-known organizations,

with a remarkable example being her role in assisting an individual,

Jimmy Dennis, who spent 25.5 years on death row in finding justice. Her active management of his case and securing the life rights to his

story shine a spotlight on the flaws in the justice system. She reflects, "I'm doing everything that I can to have his story told and the way that he wants to tell it to give him his voice."

Costin lives by the philosophy that "you lay with philanthropic

areas, find what is directly impacting you or where you feel you

can really make a difference." This approach ensures her efforts are not just impactful but deeply personal. Much like her music career, her philanthropic journey is a harmonious blend of success and

compassion. Through her influence, she empowers individuals to

take action and emphasizes that we all have a responsibility to make the importance of young people engaging in causes close to them, "I really think, again, you can't conquer everything, and if you want to do something, well, fight for something that's actually important to

you," she advises. Her words encapsulate her approach, focusing on

causes aligned with her beliefs and personal experiences to maximize her philanthropic impact.

One of Costin's most cherished endeavors centers around raising

awareness for ovarian cancer, a cause that gained deeply personal significance when her mother was diagnosed with the disease.

This pivotal moment spurred her into active involvement with

organizations dedicated to combating ovarian cancer, such as the

Ovarian Cancer Coalition of Greater California. Her dedication to

these organizations not only underscores her commitment but also

exemplifies her determination to effect meaningful change. Reflecting on her mother's battle with ovarian cancer, she emphasizes,"My mother's battle with ovarian cancer was a defining moment in my

“To be completely honest, we always be-

household name, and ready-to-serve cocktails were the unexpected product to make that happen,” Via Carota Craft Cocktails CEO

Much like other local establishments, Via

“Our priority from the start was to make

sure this felt authentic to the vision of the Via Carota founders, Rita Sodi and Jody

separate,” Silvestro says. “To ensure we were

bringing the warmth and elegance of the West Village establishment to people around the

country, we started with the logo, designed by the talented Louise Fili.”

“We are so excited to introduce Honeysuckle Rose to the commu-

Ryan and Kelleanne bring a wealth of food and beverage experi-

ence to the new project, priding their Free Reign name on dreaming up unique culinary concepts designed to integrate and compli-

ment their surrounding communities. Before moving to Charleston, they owned a high-end catering company and several restaurants including the former award-winning Mill At 2t in Connecticut.

Southbound, the team’s most recent venture, has made quite the splash in the Charleston

restaurant scene, earning a spot on the highly coveted Eater Heat Map for the last six consecutive months.

Honeysuckle Rose will feature a fixed, eight-course tasting menu with wine pairings. The

menu will rotate every four weeks, highlighting unique, seasonal ingredients each month. Dark textures, flowers, and candlelight will be the backdrop to an intimate dining room.

Curated by Free Reign Restaurants Director of Beverage and Hospitality Operations Shane Meszaros, the concept’s wine menu will rotate in tandem with the food each month.
