BRIDAL BEAUTY PLAN By Alissa Pace
From the proposal to the walk down the aisle, all brides envision having a special glow on their wedding day. As a part of the preparation, you may want to have a beauty plan in place to assure you are looking your best. This beauty plan doesn’t have to be just for the bride only, but could include the bridal party as well. Here are some tips and timeline suggestions based on your goals.
24
www. LuxLifestyle-magazine.com
For all brides and bridal party members, as soon as possible: • Begin taking care of your skin at home. Include a skin care regimen with medical grade products such as a retinol for night and a vitamin C serum for day. • Stay hydrated. This is important, especially in the days leading to the wedding day. • Wear SPF covering your face, neck and décollétte when exposed. Reapply as needed and avoid the sun entirely when you can.
For the bride in need of volume and/or wrinkle improvement: Let’s talk injectables! Neurotoxins such as Botox® and Dysport® can help soften wrinkles around the eyes and the forehead. They can also lift the brows and open the eyes for a more youthful and rested appearance. Neurotoxins take a full two weeks for results and full treatment cannot be performed again before 12 weeks. You may want to start months ahead to assure you’re fresh for your big day. Filler can soften lines related to volume loss including the lines around the mouth. For example, if you desire fuller lips,

As with microneedling, you want to book these months ahead of the wedding to complete the series and allow for the “downtime” which varies person to person. Downtime includes the expected side effects of redness, swelling and peeling. Products are available that improve pigmentation as well, the most effective being medical/prescription grade.
For the bride in need of improved texture: Microneedling is an excellent collagen stimulator and a great way to improve overall skin texture. If you desire skin tight-

SPF has titanium dioxide and that will flash against pictures that will not look flattering when you look back on.
Are there any other tips for lasting makeup? Yes, create duality – that’s where the staying power is. So, for example, if you are doing a liquid foundation, you will also want to use some powder. I would use a cream blush and then add a powder blush. The same rule would apply with your eyes…add some coal with a matte shadow on top.
So let’s talk about before the makeup is even applied.
How would you describe your overall philosophy on make up? My grandma and my mom totally influenced me. They were mentors for me - beauty is a feeling. I really believe glamour is a state of mind. It’s something that is felt and not always seen, so all makeup does for us – it’s really to pull us up. When you feel like you look good, you can feel like an Aristocrat in even the poorest of neighborhoods.
Do you have a signature look? What is something you always do on clients? I love an eye. I’m an eye guy. Women having been using eye liners since the beginning of time. Eyes can add so much.
Is there a current make up trend or mistake that you see today that makes you cringe? Is there some specific trend a bride should absolutely avoid on their wedding day?
What do you recommend that women do to best prep their skin in preparation for the big day? Three days prior I like to recommend juices. They will give your skin such a natural exfoliant. Leafy greens, carrot juice and ginger – and don’t forget about the leafy greens like kale. Oh, and beets, beets are amazing for discoloration.
Do you have any last recommendations for a bride on their makeup on their wedding day? Be strategic with your highlights and don’t use shimmer powder. Apply something that is an emollient for shimmer. Also, never set your concealer with press powder.
And lastly, how do get our makeup for special occasions off at the end of the night – any life hacks on this? I’m old school on this, I love a tissue and ponds cream – it will break everything down.
Yes, makeup that is slathered on. People sometimes use SO much concealer and foundation and it’s just too much. You go in easy, and you start soft. Also, I hate a massive eye lash. You can do false lashes for your wedding day, but too much can be show girl for just normal civilian life. There’s a time and place for that kind of lash – just not on your wedding day.
If a bride was a client of yours – are there specific ways you would elevate her look for something as big as her wedding day? When I think about brides I think about a stage. They will be on “stage” all day, so it needs to last. From a basic skin care line perspective, skip anything that has emollients. Don’t do your full pampering regimen that day– skip the moisturizers and SPF (just for that day).

Do you believe in Magic? I’m kind of known for organized prayer (some good witches may call it a spell ;) I did a little ritual to call in the love of my life right down to his star sign! (yes I prayed for Scorpio!) I have a version of this for couples who want to strengthen their relationships. (Follow me on Instagram to learn more @dina) Here’s a little cheat sheet if you want to recreate it yourself. • Make a list of the traits of your ideal marriage/partnership. BE SPECIFIC! • Take a rose quartz (heart opening love crystal) and wrap that list around the stone. • Place the crystal and list in a pouch or box and keep it somewhere that you will see it everyday. Your nightstand (or altar) is a perfect spot to remind you to stay in the vibration and feelings of your desires.
“Forgiveness does not change the past, but it does enlarge the future.” Beginning a new life together in marriage is a beautiful and fragile thing. While we have all experienced pain and disappointment in our past, bringing that emotional baggage with us into this new space is unfair to our partner, ourselves and the relationship. Unresolved issues with your partner or even an ex will keep popping up until you work them out yourself. Why not start this marriage off free from that and with a clean energetic slate? FORGIVITY is an app that allows you to examine the events of the past that caused you pain and release yourself from the emotional attachment you have to them. So free yourself from the past and write your own future. ‘Til death do you part.FORGIVITY. Free Yourself. Finally. Forgivity.com

SHOULD YOU CONSIDER GETTING
WEDDING INSURANCE? By Susan M. Keenan
If something occurs leading to the cancellation or postponement of the reception, the bride and groom usually suffer the loss of some of the money they have spent. Wedding insurance is designed to cover that loss. Policies vary in what they protect. Whether or not you should consider getting wedding insurance is a decision that many brides and grooms have never even considered before now. Is it something of value that you should purchase or is it just one more task on your already too-long list of wedding tasks to complete? What exactly is wedding insurance and what does it cover?
WHAT IS WEDDING INSURANCE? Wedding insurance is a specific form of insurance policy that protects the bride and groom from misfortunes related to a wedding. The exact terms of the policy vary according to the insurance agent or company that is used to provide the wedding insurance policy. The cost of a basic insurance policy for weddings is approximately $100 to $600, depending on the exact terms of coverage that have been selected.
WHAT DOES WEDDING INSURANCE COVER?
Reception Location Going Out of Business: If the restaurant, banquet hall, or specific reception location that has been selected goes out of business prior to the wedding, the insurance policy covers the cost of the money that is lost. Cancellation at the Reception Location Related to Unforeseeable Problems: In some cases, electrical, plumbing, heating, fire, lightning strike or other problems can lead to the cancellation or postponement of the wedding reception. The wedding insurance policy covers the cost incurred. Officiant is a No Show: On occasion, the wedding officiant fails to show up for the wedding. This might be due to an illness, accident, or death. When this happens, the insurance policy allows the policy holder to recoup some

reschedule the event.
www. LuxLifestyle-magazine.com
WHAT ADDITIONAL RIDERS ARE AVAILABLE WITH WEDDING INSURANCE? Wedding Attire: The cost incurred due to accidental damage of a wedding gown or tuxedo is offered as an additional rider to the policy. This rider would also cover any loss due to the shop going out of business before the bride or groom has taken possession of their garments. Wedding Gifts: Many couples leave their wedding gifts at home while they go on a honeymoon. A rider can be added to cover the cost to replace gifts that have been stolen or damaged. Honeymoon: A honeymoon rider protects the bride and groom against the financial loss should the honeymoon get cancelled due to sickness, weather, or certain other occurrences.
Military Service: If the bride or groom is in active reserves or the military, it might be a good idea to get a military rider that would cover the financial loss if he or she is called up for duty.
SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS WHEN CHOOSING A WEDDING INSURANCE POLICY Some of the items that are covered under a wedding insurance policy are sometimes covered through the insurance carried by the vendor or business involved. Ask questions and check first to see how much benefit you actually get by purchasing a wedding insurance policy. It is also important to understand that some limits and restrictions might apply to the actual coverage of the wedding insurance policy.
Liability: In the event that you are having the wedding at someone’s personal residence, you might want to include a liability rider.

THE MATRIMONY OF MONEY (AND THE IRS) by Nesha Pai You are married! Congratulations! All those months of planning, the details, the dress and then finally, the honeymoon. Marriage to the right person can be dreamy but it is still a work in progress as two people come together to build one life together. Marriage is not only about combining lives, households, and calendars, but is also about combining your bank accounts. The two become one. Now, for some of you progressive types (like myself at this point in my life), I plan on keeping my own bank account and would hope to create a joint account we both contribute to for household expenses. Regardless of having separate bank accounts, the IRS looks at you as one. A joint couple. Now, you can file separately in cases of a substantial income difference between you and your spouse but you will pay for it by being in a higher tax bracket. If you are going to be filing your taxes jointly for the first time, know that you get tax breaks by filing Married Filing Jointly (MFJ). Isn’t that so romantic of the IRS? First off, filing one return is less hassle and less expensive. Here are some of the other benefits:

For example, if you drank each cocktail in order, would they flow naturally from one to the next?” www.LuxLifestyle-magazine.com

Rice and Flower It is Impossible to distinguish the butter cream flowers from the real thing that cake artist Seyun creates in her New York City based studio. Secret techniques in hand-piping, coloring and composition mean every cake is truly one-of-a-kind. All the flowers are made with Italian meringue buttercream or sweet white bean paste frosting- making them a treat for both the eyes and taste buds. Bringing her designer background into culinary artistry, Seyun founded Rice & Flower with the simple goal to create unique and beautiful flower cakes. Cakes that are as delightful to look at as they are to eat. Her signature hand-piped petals and one-of-a-kind coloring techniques translate to a sophisticated, captivating floral designs that push the creative boundaries of everyday beauty. Each and every cake is a little piece of edible art. Seyun often draws her inspiration from impressionist paintings, which she studied while receiving her MA from Parsons School of Design.

FINDING A FOREVER GOWN By Katelyn Rutt

timacy and inclusivity. Not only are the two showrooms, located in Fort Mill and Charlotte, spaces for brides to feel welcomed and celebrated, but also supported—every step of the way to their dream dress.
NEUTRALS / We’ve seen hints of blue and nude undertones, but most of our clients are asking for ivory. CAPES AND SHOULDER VEILS / Both accessories are making a debut this year, but don’t rule out the traditional veil (80% of our brides are walking down the aisle in one).
ON THE HORIZON TEXTURE AND SPARKLE / Both elements are predicted to reemerge in 2023. DUCHESS SATIN / This material is making a comeback, thanks to ball gown and royal wedding styles (hail 1990’s).
WHAT MAKES THE EXPERIENCE SO DIFFERENT? With its unparalleled service, Ladies of Lineage offers dependable designers, gorgeous storefronts, customizable inventory, and attentive staff and stylists who cater to the personalities, styles and wedding day visions of their brides. Duff-Cole, who runs her company like a well-oiled machine, has left no stone unturned, anticipating any frustrations or challenges her clients may encounter during the process.
“What’s really unique about this year can be attributed to the pandemic,” Duff-Cole says. “The wheels have come off. Brides are embracing their personal style and the fact that a wedding venue no longer has to depict their chosen dress. They are willing to take chances, welcoming a transitional look.” www.LuxLifestyle-magazine.com
69
“We aren’t like traditional bridal salons,” Duff-Cole says. “We won’t send you into a sea of white and ask you to choose your favorite dresses. We’re going to ask the right questions, get to know you and your wedding day vision, we’re going to pull designs that you may have never considered, or perhaps are everything you’ve always dreamt of. We’re going to style you for your wedding day and make you feel and look like a bride.” Even better? Sizes range from 6-22, with plans to extend into 24/26 for certain collections. “Our stylists are trained to pull styles right for each build,” Duff-Cole says. “Every body is a Lineage body, and within our showroom we want each bride to embrace themselves for what they are now—not what they want to look like 6 months from now.” This intentional methodology has built nothing less than a raving customer base.

THE TIMELINE A bespoke experience from start to finish
“Ladies of Lineage has grown quite organically throughout the years,” Duff-Cole says. “We’re a referral business. More than 50% of our clients are referred by a past Lineage bride, wedding vendor or business acquaintance. It’s humbling and it speaks volumes of our team.” Duff-Cole reflects on one of her most meaningful interactions to date—26-year-old Maja, who had just delivered twins and was battling aggressive leukemia. Her dream was to marry her best friend, so the team shut down the showroom so she could try on designs without any immunity concerns. “I’ll never forget the look on her face when I put her in her wedding gown,” Duff-Cole says. “She had already lost her hair and wanted to wear a white turban and veil. I quickly pulled a yard of lace and wrapped her beautiful head. She was angelic and so perfect. Her smile filled the showroom and we all watched in awe.” On the day of the wedding, Duff-Cole received an enthusiastic text from Maja saying, “The dress was perfect...I felt normal again.” When Maja found her place in heaven in June of 2020, her husband, now with three daughters, invited Duff-Cole to the funeral. “The truth is, every one of our brides has a story, some we are made privy to, others we may never know,” Duff-Cole says. “But we’re part of something incredibly special and honored that each of our brides instills their faith in us to help them choose the most important garment they will ever wear.”
It all begins when Duff-Cole travels to New York Bridal Fashion Week or international markets to meet with designers to preview the season’s newest collections. “I like to bring a stylist with me so he or she can learn and understand the buying process,” Duff-Cole says. “Secondly, they can use the feedback their brides have provided them to influence important buying decisions.” If there is one thing you can be certain of, it’s this: You won’t find run-of-the-mill names in Duff-Cole’s showrooms. Customer service is paramount to the Ladies of Lineage ethos, so the owner specifically chooses designers based on their outstanding level of client relations. “I want to be able to pick up the phone and know our brides are taken care of and get a quick response without making a bride wait a week for an answer,” Duff-Cole says. “I can do that with any one of my designers, and because of that, our brides know they can put their faith in us. It’s also nice to pull up a designer for a quick FaceTime when a bride has announced she is ‘down for the gown.’” Even after a dress is chosen, fitted and donned for the big day, Ladies of Lineage maintains close connection with its clients. Duff-Cole says that anytime a member of the team is mentioned in an online review, that team member will create a personalized response. “The core of what we represent and who we are is family,” Duff-Cole says. “The secret sauce is my team of stylists, client relation experts and management staff. Together we have a natural ability to care about each one of our brides and provide an exceptional experience from start to finish.”

THE ART OF THE
INVITATION
Tips, tricks and secrets of the century-old stationers By Katelyn Rutt Nestled on a cozy corner of Dunavant Street, Arzberger is perhaps the truest example of a brand that lives and breathes intentional design, blending cutting edge materials with masterful equipment that pays homage to its 1922 origins. Inside the wrought iron exterior, the showroom features a display punctuated by elaborate stationery—each piece printed, tied, glued and assembled by hand. With the level of thoughtfulness ingrained in its business model, it’s no surprise that Arzberger is celebrating 100 years of special moments with its customers near and far.

According to DeLaPaz, Arzberger’s mission has always remained simple: “That you love your experience with us, are proud of the product you created and that, 20 years from now, you will still be proud of your choices and our craft.” And it doesn’t stop there—the Arzberger impact is just as enduring as its stationery. “Having a bride come back through our doors to work on her first baby announcement is the best feeling,” Knight says. “The memories of the wedding invitation experience come back instantaneously and creating new memories in the next chapter is a true gift. Ultimately, the milestone of 100 years is only possible as a result of our customers’ passion for our craft and loyalty to our company.”
After designs have been completed and approved, the production process—which ranges anywhere from a few weeks to a couple of months, depending on an order’s complexity—can be initiated. ‘Everything we do here is by hand,” DeLaPaz says. “From etching the copper plates to cutting the paper, feeding each piece through the press one by one, lining the envelopes and conducting final inspection. As the walls in our facility say, ‘We are all there when you open the box.’”
76

WHAT ARE COMMON MISTAKES IN THE PLANNING PROCESS? “Plan early and allow yourself extra time. This is by far the most common misstep. Custom work needs time in order to get it right—it is never something you want to rush. Additionally, the addressing and assembly process takes longer than you think. Giving yourself some ‘cushion’ will keep the process fun and stress-free.” –Catharine Knight, Sales Director

of an event.” –Muriel DeLaPaz, Creative Director
“It’s all about texture! From an exaggerated torn edge, to luxe velvet ribbon, to lace overlays, texture is a trend we are super excited about right now. It takes the invitation to another level of customization. Color is also more popular than ever right now. Brides are not afraid of exploring more than just the previously used white and ecru stock options—dark greens, rich chartreuses, and soft blues and greens are running through our presses regularly.” –Muriel DeLaPaz, Creative Director
WHAT DESIGN SHOULD A BRIDE CHOOSE? “For the unsure bride, we have a beautiful wedding album with designs created by our team that are on display in stores around the country. We consider this the perfect library for a bride who isn’t sure what she wants. The designs in the album feel unique to us and we will always suggest an idea or two to make the suite uniquely yours with a custom ink, the perfect liner or an alternate paper color.” –Catharine Knight, Sales Director

HAUTE SPOTS Honeymoon by Lisa Mele Once upon a time, a bride and groom dreamt of the most fabulous place to honeymoon. In this dream, the destination would have perfect weather year-round, would consist of many islands that are known for supreme seclusion and of course have close to nonexistent crime rates. This was my exact dream eleven years ago for my own honeymoon, and my dream came true. I first visited the British Virgin Islands then, and they are just as magical today as they have always been. The BVI’s are known for exclusivity and are some of the least-developed islands of the Caribbean, which only adds to their allure. Yachting crowds recognize the British Virgin Islands as one of the most impressive places for island-hopping in all the Caribbean. The hardest part of your honeymoon will be the decision on which island to choose. So, grab your sun hat, a favorite novel, and enjoy on some of the most beautiful beaches and resorts in the world.
