So how does a man that sells almost a quarter of a billion dollars worth of real estate a year break away from it all? I manage my time well and I’m home for dinner most days by 5:00pm. I find the time to have dinner with the family and take the kids to soccer and all the things that a dad must do! Most of my friends and clients know I have a home in Los Angeles where I go whenever I have a few days clear. If I’m busy, I don’t go, it’s that simple. I love the sunshine and lifestyle in L.A. I enjoy the restaurants, hotels and shopping. That’s it for me I don’t play golf or tennis but I enjoy my life well….and always with my family.
So what does 2012 look like for the Vancouver real estate market? The real estate market in greater Vancouver has changed so much over the past five years. In 2011 almost 90% of all my luxury properties sold to buyers coming directly from China or Chinese families moving from other parts of Vancouver. restaurant market on the North Shore and decided to use their combined insights to create the all around perfect dinning experience to satisfy that need. “The goal was to have it approachable, not stuffy, but really quality food, ” shares Barb on what their vision was for Fraîche. “People can come in, still relax and even wear their jeans if they want but they know they are going to get a really superior product and service.” It appears Barb and Paul knew what they were doing. Coming up on its 4th year anniversary, Fraîche has received numerous accolades and glowing reviews since opening its doors in 2007. Quickly winning their first award in 2008,
they were named one of Canada’s Top Ten Best New Restaurants by enRoute Magazine, and most recently given the Gold and title of Best North Shore Dining in 2009 by the Annual Vancouver Magazine Restaurant Awards. Humble and modest when asked what it feels like to be considered such an outstanding establishment Barb says it’s all about their gifted staff. “For us it’s really exciting but the people that get the most out of it is the staff. For someone to recognize them as being good is the best part of receiving such an award,” says Barb. Somewhat new to the Fraîche team is head chef, Jefferson Alvarez. He signed on 6 months ago and has quickly impressed many taste buds with his creative fare. The self-taught native Venezuelan has worked at numerous top restaurants in Toronto, New York and Philadelphia. He moved to BC in 2009 to head up the kitchen at wine bar and bistro, Divino. “A friend in the food business took us to Divino where Jefferson was working and we just fell in love with his food and it just went from there. It was a good time for him to move on and it was a good time for us,” says Barb on how he came to work for them. Most impressed with the passion that Jefferson puts into everything he does, Barb says he goes far beyond the average chef with his creativity and really stresses the importance of fresh, sustainable products. Although hard to pick a favorite menu item, Barb narrowed it down to his beat salad, arctic char, and ash crusted ostrich that she calls, “just beautiful.” Their goal to create the perfect dining experience that offers both quality and comfort has been achieved. “I had the most wonderful opportunity to meet this Italian master piano builder,” says Malcolm, “and was incredibly amazed with Mr. Fazioli’s sophistication and passion for his pianos.” On November 25th at the Fairmont Pacific Rim, enchanting piano music resounded through the halls, enthralling an audience as the talented pianist, Daniel masterfully played Mozart’s ‘Turkish March’ on the white, custom-built Fazioli. “These incredible Italian pianos are simply amazing, both to look at and listen to,” says Malcolm. Manuel Bernaschek shared the same sentiment and decided four years ago to bring the Fazioli
pianos to Canada and opened, Showcase Pianos. Impressively he has sold 37 Fazioli’s in that time, making it the top market in the world for Fazioli’s. “Any one who has ever touched a Fazioli Piano says they are phenomenally better than anything they have ever played on,” says Manuel. ”One thing players comment on all the time is how smooth the action is. The sound is very clear, very powerful, very even.” Malcolm’s personal favorite is the Fazioli M. Liminal, which
costs $450,000. Only eight have been made, and six have already been sold. Malcolm seems to have good taste, as it’s famous pianist, Herbie Hancock’s piano of choice as well. Malcolm believes that Mr. Fazioli has achieved perfection and has changed the way the instrument sounds and feels. Those fortunate enough to own one of Fazioli’s perfectly crafted masterpieces is surely grateful for his passion and dedication to the arts.

The challenge facing Director of Design Dirk van Braeckel in coming up with the new design was to take an icon of automotive art and improve it. It was a challenge he successfully surmounted. His concept for the new super four seater luxury convertible started with a 6-liter, twin-turbocharged W12 engine with 567 horsepower and 516 lb. of torque available at 2000 rpm that goes from 0-60 mph in 4.5 seconds. It also runs on ethanol fuel although mileage is reduced. Fulltime AWD is standard. Whereas the first Continental GTC was both elegant and understated,
