Get red-carpet ready in just five steps. With the nominees for the 81st Academy Awards announcement, the Oscar Party planning has begun. You might even be planning a glamorous party of your own, but how can you look red-carpet ready from the comfort of your own home? Women often look to red carpet events to get ideas to incorporate the latest trends in fashion and beauty into their look. Step 1. Get that golden glow. Nothing beats a bad hair day – except a bad skin day. A 2008 Olay Skin Survey found women felt three times more confident when their skin looked its best. Celebrities often have a perfect sun-kissed glow on the red carpet and you can achieve the same look at home. The trick is to moisturize and attain an even skin tone. Prep skin by cleansing and exfoliating for a residue-free, clean canvas for beauty. Use a foundation that blends seamlessly with your skin tone and can be enhanced further with blush or bronzer. Step 2. Favour falsies. Prepare to flash those beautiful lashes for the paparazzi by wearing a set of false eyelashes. Available in strips or individual clusters, a set of false lashes will open up your eyes and make your eye colour pop in just minutes. Step 3. Work on that smile. All actresses and models can flash that brilliant white smile thanks to expensive whitening procedures courtesy of their Hollywood dentists. An at-home whitening kit can give your smile that same pearly appeal. Complement your new grin with a lip colour that complements your skin tone and makeup such as rich berry colours that bring out a woman’s natural lip tint. Step 4. Avoid the matchy-matchy faux pas. Bright colours signifying optimism in the wake of the economic crisis are expected on the red carpet this season. Do follow this trend. Do not match your eye makeup to your outfit. A bright coloured dress should take centre stage with sheer, light coloured cosmetics like silver, pearl or gold tones taking the supporting role. Shimmery shadows ill brighten your eyes for an overall luminous look. Contour with a darker shade in the crease.

Step 5. Donâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;t have a meltdown. The hot lights on the red carpet can melt away makeup. So too can dancing the night away with friends. To keep your prettiness in place, skip the heavy foundation and opt for a lighter tinted moisturizer or mineral powder foundation. Concentrate on taming the oily t-zone.
