The caliber RM031 is equipped with an AP directimpulse escapement. Developed by APR&P for Audemars Piguet, this new escapement represents a subtle combination of a detent escapement and a Swiss anchor escapement. The AP escapement provides an improved chronometric results thanks to the direct action of the escapement wheel on the balance wheel in contrast to a Swiss anchor escapement in which the anchor acts directly on the escape wheel. The AP escapement beats at 36000 vibrations per hour and is fitted with two Elinvar spirals that are set in opposite directions. It delivers a well improved

efficiency. A dart is specifically designed for this kind of escapement, which prevents any overbanking. The objective is achieved: this high-demanding design caliber reaches a chronometric variation of only 0 to 30 sec per month. The baseplate and bridges are machined from ARCAP, a material used for the first time in watchmaking in the Richard Mille caliber RM002. ARCAP is renowned for its physical characteristics, which include corrosionresistance and anti-magnetic properties. These qualities explain its frequent use in the aerospace, automobile and advanced electronics industries.


The new round case (50 mm x 13.90 mm) is made in four parts according to an exceptionally complex design, and has been chamfered, polished and brushed for a unique finish. Lastly, in a perfect demonstration of the attention devoted to every detail, the lugs are carefully designed to extend the lines of the case while following the curve of the strap. The RM 031 is available in a limited edition of 10 platinum pieces.

Malcolm Hasman and his unique ability to create awe-inspiring events brought together over 150 invited guests on May 16th, to enjoy a spectacular evening at Aurora Jet Partners private hanger at the Vancouver International Airport. Malcolm was excited to participate in the evening of lavish delight, now being described as ‘the aviation event launch of the year’. Together with ROLLS ROYCE Vancouver, FISKER and FAZIOLI Piano’s, Malcolm has beautifully executed another jaw dropping event for his VIP clients to enjoy. With the overwhelming success of his past exclusive events, including the Terminal City Mercedes AMG SLS event he hosted this past March, Aurora Jet Partners invited Malcolm to co-host their event, “It was just a perfect fit for my most exclusive VIP clients” says Malcolm. Established in 2010, Aurora Jet Partners now offers the most exclusive and efficient fractional jet ownership program in Canada. To mark this new addition exclusive guests were invited to preview their state of the art fleet featuring the CHALLENGER 605 and the PHENOM 300, which until this event had never been seen before in Vancouver. According to AURORA’S Vice President Darryl Simpson, the special evening was an opportunity to show the VIP Guests how easy private jet travel and ownership can be. Whilst marvelling at the incredible opulence and detail put into the evening, guests had the rare opportunity to witness the unveiling of the long awaited ROLLS ROYCE GHOST extended body and the impressive FISKER KARMA. Guests were invited and delighted to get behind the wheel and test drive the incredible vehicles. “The cars are both simply stunning to look at and to drive,” says Malcolm. Manuel Bernaschek of Showcase Piano’s brought a stunning $400,000 Italian FAZIOLI piano, providing the entertainment for the evening. He brought together concert pianist EVGENIA RABINOVICH and six year old SHUQI LI who had just returned from her performance at CARNEGY HALL. “These incredible Italian pianos, which take over three years to individually build, are not only beautiful to listen to, but are truly an impressive piece of art to admire,” says Malcolm. Wine producers of the province have been repeatedly recognized by the world’s top wine competitions including most recently, London’s celebrated International Wine and Spirit Competition in 2011, where they won over 100 medals including the trophy for ‘Best Dessert Wine’. New to the list of award winners and receiving a lot of international attention is Painted Rock Vineyard, an eightyear-old winery that some are calling ‘a superpremium-wine star in British Columbia’. After vacationing in the South of France exploring its vineyards with their family, owners John and Trish Skinner knew that BC could produce equally spectacular wines and began to envision a family-run estate winery back on home soil. Their philosophy is that wine should be made for friends and family to enjoy, and they have done just that since their dream came to fruition in 2004. the ranks of BC big hitters such as Mission Hill and Jackson Triggs; these two well-known wineries took home an impressive combined haul of 32 medals in 2011 at London’s International Wine and Spirit competition. Their stunning 60-acre property sits perched overlooking the eastern shore of Skaha Lake in Penticton B.C. The name ‘Painted Rock’ was inspired by the ancient pictographs they found on the rocks behind the vineyards bluffs. The property has a unique climate that differs from its surrounding areas, creating the perfect environment to grow grapes. “What distinguishes Painted Rock from other wineries is as simple as the dirt,” shares Lauren Skinner. “The estate property where the wines are grown is unparalleled. Malcolm Hasman with his sophisticated pallet for wine has been a great supporter of Painted Rock Vineyard since they first started, but admits that he has a favorite. “I have been enjoying these fabulous wines for the past few years, but the Red Icon is the most spectacular,” says Malcolm. Kitchen and Coast are just a few of Vancouver’s finest restaurants to tout the award winning wines. Their signature Red Icon is said to show complex aromas and flavours with “both power and elegance” and is extremely popular in the Asian market, selling for 10 times the price in China, than it does in Canada at an impressive $500 price tag. While the Skinners had great confidence in their properties potential, they couldn’t have anticipated the incredible reviews they received upon placing their first vintage in a competition, it won 2 of the 10 B.C. Lieutenant Governor’s Awards for Excellence. This reaffirmed everything for John and Trish and inspired them to be better. Now on their third vintage, they were ranked as the #1 Winery in B.C. at the 2011 Wine Access Canadian Wine Awards and their signature Red Icon is rated the Best Red Blend in Canada. Most recently, they have won two of the coveted

2012 British Columbia Lieutenant Governor’s Awards for Excellence in Wine, one for their signature 2009 Red Icon and the other for their 2009 Syrah. Only 11 awards are given to the entire industry and it’s the second time, in the three years their wines have been available, they have won two of them. “This business is about trust. When someone buys a bottle of Painted Rock they expect a particularly high quality bottle of wine. Winning these awards again confirms that we are achieving the consistency that will earn us that trust,” says John. The goal for the future of Painted Rock is to simply “get better, not bigger.” They aspire to be a preeminent brand in the Okanagan and help to raise the regions profile and reputation internationally. _ HUB LOT C AT HED R A L _ MINUTE REPEATER TOURBILLON AND COLUMN WHEEL CHRONOGRAPH Hublot marked the recent Basel Fair by presenting a world first, a minute repeater watch featuring two “cathedral” type gongs, a tourbillon and column wheel chronograph, with carbon fiber bridges, in a case made from carbon fiber. This is a perfect illustration of “Fusion” between great watchmaking tradition and the technology of the future It is a timepiece with a sophisticated mechanism, featuring three major Haute Horlogerie complications particularly prized by connoisseurs and collectors, but revisited in a resolutely contemporary spirit: The main particularity lies in the fact that the three complications are visible from the dial side. Besides the carbon fibre, the case is also fashioned with materials such as titanium and rubber, which is a perfect illustration of the Art of Fusion key to Hublot. From a design point of view, the minute repeater bolt is ingeniously integrated into the King Power case middle, just like the chronograph control push-piece subtly integrated into the watch’s crown. The minute repeater, activated by means of a lever situated between 8 and 10 o’clock, sounds the hours, quarter-hours and minutes. Its two “cathedral” gongs (one for hours and the other for minutes) are double the length of a regular gong. The whole design aims for a very uncomplicated overall effect for a piece of this level. The manual-winding mechanical movement boasts a 5-day power reserve. The hour and minute indicator is situated centrally, for a conventional readout. The flying tourbillon – with suspended cage – is situated at 6 o’clock, and features an unusual structure of very high quality: indeed, the cage rotates without a ball bearing, and has a Swiss lever escapement. 3 9
