Monica Rose Celebrity Stylist

Written By: Angela Brickley Photography: Violeta Meyners Makeup: Jadene Munson

Meet Monica Rose, a celebrity stylist that made her mark in the industry by building her business organically. Read Monica's interview to learn more about how her passion turned into her business.

T

ell us how you got started styling and how you grew your business? It all began for me when I started networking and offering to style for free in exchange for photos for my portfolio. In my journey I met the most amazing photographer, Lionel Duley, who I truly admire and enjoyed working with. He booked me on my first editorial and I still remember that surreal moment when I saw my name credited in a magazine.

It absolutely drove my desire to continue the hustle and build my business. Where does your ambition come from? My ambition comes from my roots of how I came to be and the paths I have walked. I started with absolutely nothing and have always worked hard and with integrity.

Issue 8 | 13

"I TRULY FELT SO BLESSED TO BE WORKING WITH SOME INCREDIBLY AMAZING WOMEN WHILE DOING WHAT I ABSOLUTELY LOVE." How did the transition into focusing on celebrity styling happen? It all happened organically and just really took off. Once I was on this path, I truly felt so blessed to be working with some incredibly amazing women while doing what I absolutely love, which is to create and uplift. What are some of the projects that you want to do in the future, specifically? How do you see your business evolving? I’d love to do capsule collaborations with different brands in not only clothing but other lines of lifestyle goods. Ultimately, it is my goal to create my business into an all encompassing and worldly brand.

Are there any key milestones that you think have helped you reach this point in your business? When I first started it was all editorial work, so when the jobs started including music videos, commercials, etc. it opened up a whole new world for me artistically. The only person I am ever in competition with is myself, and I always strive to continue to push myself in all aspects. What does an average day of work look like for you? Do you have a daily routine? My day starts off with my family which include my three young angels who are all under the age of eight. It’s always mama mode first and foremost. Then it’s emails and checking up with my team to discuss what we need to do for that day. Always insanely crazy, but I wouldn’t change it for anything. Is there anything important you wish you had known earlier about business or life that you would like to share with people starting out? I have learned that it is of the utmost importance to have a tight staff. My team is amazing and I truly appreciate them. There is SO much that goes into what we do, and we have to balance a million and one things while always remaining courteous and professional. If I can provide some words of wisdom to an upcoming stylist, I would say that it’s all about working hard and never giving up. Also, always trust your instincts and always work with integrity. Surround yourself with positive people in your life who truly support and believe in you. What would you say has been the biggest challenge you've faced so far in your career? The biggest challenge for me is being a working mother of three young children and having my career. I struggle with mommy guilt at times, but I constantly remind myself that everything I do is for my family and I’ve slowly learned that it’s all about finding and maintaining that balance of my personal and professional life. It’s such a blessing to have the best of both worlds! Issue 8 | 15

Would you say that's the legacy you want to leave? That’s a really big question and I don’t know if I even know how to answer that fully yet, but I want to be known for being a good mom and continue to create empowering moments.

"I WANT TO BE KNOWN FOR BEING A GOOD MOM AND CONTINUE TO CREATE EMPOWERING MOMENTS."

CAROLINE VAZZANA

Author, Fashion Editor & Style Influencer By: Angela Brickley Photography: HB Media

T

ell us about what you do as an entrepreneur. I am the author of "Making it in Manhattan: The Beginner's Guide to Surviving and Thriving in the World of Fashion" as well as a fashion editor and style influencer. Through my book, I shed light on the fashion industry in a fun and relatable way and share behind-the-scenes moments for those hoping to one day work in the industry. Since the release of my book, I have traveled to colleges, spoken on panels and been able to share my positive message which has been so much fun! As a style influencer, I partner with various brands across my platforms to share my unique eye and voice by appearing in various ad campaigns and projects.

"I love being able to think up a wild shoot or article and then being able to bring it to lifeit's super liberating."

What is your favorite thing about being an entrepreneur? I love the creative freedom. I love being able to think up a wild shoot or article and then being able to bring it to life- it's super liberating. As opposed to working for someone else and being told "no" you have so much freedom to be super creative and have fun- which I love. There are no limits in the industry so being able to push myself on a daily basis has been super rewarding. I also love being able to collaborate and meet so many other inspiring women in the industry. When I'm out constantly at events or meetings, I've been so lucky to meet some pretty incredible people who endlessly inspire me.

Issue 8 | 24

"I always wanted to be my own boss, it was always a thought I had in the back of my head. But, when I started writing, "Making it in Manhattan" it was because I could think back to what it was like when I first started in fashion."

Who or what inspires you to chase your dreams? I feel like there is inspiration everywhere. But one thing that really fuels me is my younger self. It might sound cliche, but I've always wanted to work in fashion since I was about ten years old. I've always been creative and I used to paint all the time. So when I'm having a day where I may be feeling uninspired I think "If only your younger self could see you now, living your dreams, she would be so proud!" This is a constant source of inspiration to keep me motivated and following my dreams. Why did you decide to start your own business? I always wanted to be my own boss, it was always a thought I had in the back of my head. But, when I started writing, "Making it in Manhattan" it was because I could think back to what it was like when I first started in fashion. I didn't know anyone or where to start, so I thought if I could create a guidebook for those hoping to "Make It" that would be pretty awesome and help a lot of people!Â

Issue 8 | 25

What is your dream-level goal for your business?

Talk us through what your typical day looks like.

I hope to continue growing my brand and sharing the "Making it in Manhattan" message to follow your dreams and to always fearlessly be yourself. I hope to be able to partner with brands that truly inspire me, where I can show my unique and eclectic sense of style. Every day my dreams are growing and changing, so I think at the end of the day to just grow my brand, share my message, share my fun style, and to be happy and have fun along the way is my ultimate dream.

There is no real typical day as every day is so different. But usually every day I wake up, check emails and Instagram to see what I need to take of that morning. Every night before I go to bed I look over my schedule so I know what to be prepared for the next day. After emails, I'll get ready and usually, my assistant will meet me at my home before we head to an event or meeting or to shoot. While we travel, she and I go over my schedule and to-dos for the day. Then after that, I could either be attending previews, events, meetings or shooting a campaign. I'll usually end my night with an event (or a few!) depending on the day. Sometime during all of that, I always find time to post across my page to share what I'm up to! I'm not that big of a planner though so many people are surprised I do not plan out my Instagram which I think makes it more fun and authentic.

What does your current business model look like? I have a tight-knit group of people who work really hard and understand the brand goals and message. I have an assistant who works with me regularly on projects, shoots, and communication within the company. She's a vital part of my team because she's my right hand in everything that's happening. Then I have a deputy editor for my website MakingManhattan.com, she is in charge of all of the backend work. Making sure we are staying on schedule and posting several times a week. She is also in charge of communicating with our freelance writers. Then I have my manager who handles all of my brand collaborations. Any offers I receive are forwarded to her so she can negotiate and go through everything to help me decide what is most beneficial for me and my brand. I started working with her right before my book launch and it has been life changing! And then last, I always have an intern each season who helps with a variety of things from assisting on shoots to attending events and helping with errands around NYC. So it's a small team but every single person plays such an important role.

Issue 8 | 26

What is your brand's mission? Here is a mission statement that was developed by our team "The Making it in Manhattan reader is an educated, professional young woman who loves the 3 T’s: travel, trends, and tips. She is obsessed with color (and lots of it!), beauty (inside and out), everything Instagram, and pushing her career forward. She is social and likes to have fun, but is also not afraid to break barriers, be bold and be herself - all in only the best pair of shoes! She is budget-conscious - as she is just starting her career - but demands high quality and expects it for the best price." So our girl is truly herself, has fun with fashion, but is also very career focused and wants to make it in her field, so we hope that by opening up and sharing our career experiences (and style advice!) she can follow her dreams and become the best and most authentic version of herself.

What's next for your business? I feel like this is a super loaded question because there is so much! This is only the beginning. Launching my first book and getting my name and message out there was only the start of it all. I hope to grow my brand by partnering with incredible companies who truly align with who we are. I also hope to write more books, to share the "Making it in Manhattan" message and to inspire others, always.

FUN FACTS ABOUT CAROLINE What celebrity would you love to have dinner with? Sarah Jessica Parker, of course! What is your favorite vacation location? I love Paris!

What advice would you give to someone who is just starting?

What is one thing on your bucket list that you would like to complete by end of the year?

Work hard, love it, be nice, and be yourself. I think it's so important to be ready to work hard. Be open to the legwork, getting coffee, doing pickups, because if you go in with a positive, can do attitude your bosses will notice! I also say love it, because as I said it is going to be hard work so make sure to truly love it because that passion is what will keep you going. Being nice to others is also so important because you never want to burn a bridge and you never know where someone will end up, so putting your best foot forward always will get you further. Lastly, I stress to always be yourself, you are you and that is your superpower. I always say I've built a brand on just being me, being my most sparkly, colorful self. And if I can do it so can you!

I'm pretty happy with everything I've accomplished this year, so I'm not too sure. Maybe to just enjoy some time with families and try to disconnect a bit during the holidays! Coffee or Tea? Tea What does your current workspace look like? Desk or studio I have a desk but I am always on the go, so I joke my phone and the back of an Uber is my mobile office

CHLOE CLEAVES VISUAL BRANDING COACH & DESIGNER

W

hat do you love most about being an entrepreneur?

I absolutely love that your passion fuels your freedom. I know that a lot of people just want to have the freedom of doing what they want when they want. But for me, it is so much deeper than that. I find that if you truly love and know that what you do is your purpose, you feel free, even when your schedule isn't. Who inspires you most to keep going every day, no matter how hard it gets? Myself. Of course, my family and the next generation are who inspire me, but each of them is still extensions of me. I am the only person that can outdo myself to get to the next level to be able to bring everyone with me. What do you think your fans and followers love most about you? That's a tough question lol. I would say my transparency and my drive. Over the years I have gone through a few phases to get to this point but a good bit of my followers have hung in there the whole time, supported me, wished me well, and done business with me. On top of that, it would definitely be my style and visuals. Issue 8 | 31

"I HAVE A GENUINE ABILITY TO CONNECT WITH MOST PEOPLE I COME IN CONTACT WITH AND EVEN IF IT'S SOMETHING SMALL WE'RE TALKING ABOUT, I GET THEM." Why do you think is most important to connect with your clients? For me, it is merely the love of people. That is my reason. However, from a business standpoint, people do business with whom they like so I truly connect by being myself. That ability can take you a long way in life, period. How would you describe yourself to people who don't know you? I'm bomb. LOL. I'm kidding (somewhat) but if nothing else, I would have to say real and personable. My clients know this but one thing about me is I make your vision my own. I have a genuine ability to connect with most people I come in contact with and even if it's something small we're talking about, I get them. I absolutely love that your passion fuels your freedom.

Issue 8 | 32

I know that a lot of people just want to have the freedom of doing what they want when they want. But for me, it is so much deeper than that. I find that if you truly love and know that what you do is your purpose, you feel free, even when your schedule isn't. What does your current business model look like? Believe it or not, I've done it all myself. Not because I have to. It has just kind of happened that way. I had an assistant for a couple months at one point to get me through a hump but other than that it's all me. I do however have partnerships in place to produce things outside of the design and consulting parts of my business.

Talk us through what your typical day looks like. I don't even know if I have a typical day LOL. But if I had to generalize, I would say my mornings can start anywhere from 2:30 am to 7:30 am depending on how I feel and I utilize that time for designs. I don't have to get up that early but I am always more productive during the day and like to relax at night. Around 9 is when I start meetings until about 3. Then comes any errands. I save photo shoots mainly for weekends because with them taking so much time, I don't want it to be rushed. In the evenings I could be relaxing, at an event, or maybe even doing another round of designing. What do you want your brand to ultimately be and do for others? I want my brand to be known for luxury branding services and coaching. I want to be a helping hand however I can in a way that I can because I didn't have that when I first started.

What is your latest project? My personal rebrand is probably my main focus. There are a few projects in the works but in between clients, that is what I am doing. Designing and planning your own material is an ENTIRELY different task than doing it for others. I am spending way more time than usual planning content, archiving photos, extended photo shoots, designing new material for a full rollout on January 11. My five year business anniversary! What's next for your business? Definitely expansion. As I stated, almost everything I produce is all me. Could I have done this before now, yes, but timing is everything? Now that I am reputable in a specific aspect and have built a solid foundation, I can provide opportunities for others.

Issue 8 | 33

Issue 8 | 34

What advice would you give to someone who is just starting out as an entrepreneur? Always be selective. From the type of clientele, you would like to the partnerships you agree to. Please keep in mind that everything and everyone is NOT for you. All money is not good money, and all energy isn't needed in your life. When a lot of us start out, we are struggling. We need our plan to work and we need to make money. But DO NOT get lost in that. Truly understand who is trying to help you vs. being around you to help themselves. Make sure you know that a target audience will always be your best bet vs. trying to sell to any and everyone. As long as you can get one person to purchase or one to invest that is actually good for you, there will always be more where that came from. What's the most challenging part of your career? I'm not sure if there is one for me. Whenever there is something I don't know or don't like, I either research it or block off time to learn it or grasp it. My most recent challenge though was understanding what social media strategy specifically worked for me. Where can people find your website or social media channels? Instagram: @thechloebrand, @thechloebrandingco, @thebrandingbrunchÂ

FUN FACTS ABOUT CHLOE What is the one word that you live by? Patience. Which is why I got it tattooed on my wrist for all the times I grow weary. What is the last country you visited? Dominican Republic What is your favorite fashion trend of all time? High waist pants. They save lives when you aren't the most consistent gym attendee LOL. What is your must-have beauty product? Edge control. I have to keep it in my purse because they just do not cooperate with my lifestyle. Last book or magazine you read? December issue of Elle featuring Michelle Obama. Issue 8 | 35

What’s Your New Year's Shape-olution? The quick & easy shaping solution post holidays BY: YALDA KAZEMI We’re all familiar with the often elaborate and ambitious annual New Year’s resolution plans that are made post the winter holiday season. As much as we tell ourselves that this year will be the year that we stick to our strict caloric intake to maintain our pre-holiday physiques, there’s just something about indulging in all that delicious gobble gobble (and fixings) served at the holiday gatherings that get in the way. So, until we can work off those extra holiday pounds by getting back on the healthy eating and exercising bandwagon, you can use a quick shape-olution (aka shaping solution) to help you look fabulous in all your favorite pre-holiday wardrobe pieces. Look no further than shapewear! It’s by no means a new concept or product; although advancements in fabric compositions and styles are always being made. But, it’s a wardrobe component often forgotten or skipped by many.

Issue 8 | 37

SPANX High Power Panties SPANX High Power Capri

Not only can shapewear help you achieve your ideal look by instantly contouring your body and enhancing your shape; while quickly giving you a more slimming appearance, but it can also help to smooth out the appearance of clothing. Depending on the type of shapewear you select, some can give you an up to 10 lbs slimmer appearance (often in the stomach, thigh, and buttocks). However, many tend to skip this important piece of undergarment by believing it to be uncomfortable or ridiculously expensive. Neither of which is true!

Issue 8 | 38

With so many varieties and options available, both in store and online, shapewear is now so much more affordable than it once used to be. And, with advancements in innovative fabrics such as Lycra, shapewear can not only be comfortable and breathable, but nearly invisible underneath your clothes; so nobody will even know you’re wearing it. The only thing that will show is your amazing body and the beaming smile on your face when you look confident and fabulous in what you’re wearing. Lastly, shapewear can help you smooth out the appearance of clothing when wearing layered looks (which is often the case in the colder winter months). So the next time you want to tuck that crisp white dress shirt into your favorite hip-hugging pencil skirt or high waisted pants, throw on your favorite waist cinching shapewear and tuck your blouse into it, then watch how smoothly your clothes sit on your body and marvel at your beautiful self in the mirror!

FASHION PHOTOGRAPHER & FILMMAKER By: Lori Granded

How did you get started with fashion photography and film directing? Before moving to filmmaking I had been working as a stage director in the hotel chain Club Med. My job description was to set worldfamous musicals on stage and manage performers, light, sound, etc. It's very similar to filmmaking regarding managing various departments, directing actors and handling the budget. When I moved from filmmaking to photography, it was a downshift (joking). Seriously speaking, photography production comparing to a complex filmmaking set is a walk in a park. However creative vision remains the core component for both.

Issue 8 |Â 41

"I FIND INSPIRATION IN THE WORK OF OTHER CREATIVES: MUSICIANS, FILMMAKERS, WRITERS, AND PAINTERS…."

What inspires your photography and where do you find your inspiration? I find inspiration in the work of other creatives: musicians, filmmakers, writers, painters… That's why visiting exhibitions, museums, and art fairs are very important to me. Additionally, I draw lots of inspiration from collaborations. Who are some of your favorite photographers? I certainly will mention such established photographers as Patrick Demarchelier and Mario Testino. For me, photography of these two artists is an artistic and commercial visual inspiration. However right now, working on my exhibition project Sex-Drugs-Rocknroll, I am inspired by Annie Leibovitz's early images, that have been published in Rolling Stone magazine high contrast black and white, reportage style, with lots of storytelling in every image. Who are some of your favorite filmmakers? Iconic Stanley Kubrik and Steven Spielberg. However, Quentin Tarantino-Robert Rodriguez duo had always inspired me as a new wave of the filmmaking industry. Being a student, I, along with my peers could not get enough of the 'guys next door' success story. Small budget films, DYI solutions on set and genius distribution decisions symbolized for me the beginning of new era of independent filmmaking. What is your biggest goal for your businesses? My biggest goal as an artist is to collaborate with the most established world artists. I draw lots of inspiration from collaboration, so working with the worlds best creatives would mean a lot to me.

What does your current business model look like? I own an audio-visual company and I hire freelancers whenever it is necessary (beauty team, graphic designers, editors, etc) Talk us through what your typical day looks like. My one day can be very different from the other. That is exactly what I love my profession for- it is never boring or predictable. I can lock myself in a studio for post-production for a week and then leave for a photo shoot in a lush forest or at a Greek island. I love variety and challenge. What photo collaboration have you been most proud of? For my upcoming photography exhibition Sex Drugs Rock-n-Roll, I'm thrilled to collaborate with established entertainment industry performers and artists. I will be revealing the names in 2019, during the exhibition marketing campaign, however, it will be my most large-scale collaboration to the date. Which has been your favorite photo shoot thus far? I have a few, but my exhibition project 'Kenya: Back to roots' is certainly very special. Not only did I shoot it on a spectacular location but it also has a deep storytelling aspect. In collaboration with Kenyan fashion designers, we have created a project that fuses Kenyan traditional costume with modern fashion. The project also underlines the fundamental women's role in the traditional Kenyan society.

What's next for your business? I can't wait to collaborate more with American creatives, especially musicians. Do you have any advice for people starting in the photography/directing industry? Dream big and work hard for your dreams. Nothing is impossible but don't expect it coming easy way. To filmmakers, my advice would be: 'Get a job. Filmmaking does not pay bills'. To photographers, I would say: 'Work for established modeling agencies. Even if you will do it for free. Your image is as good as the model on the image'. In your opinion, what makes a 'good' photograph? Certainly a unique vision. Also, I believe that every visionary should continuously draw inspiration from different sources. It will allow the visionary to reinvent him/herself over and over again. Where can people find your website or social media channels? www.nikkalorak.com IG:@nikkalorak

FUN FACTS ABOUT NIKKA

What is your favorite piece in your wardrobe? Whatever falls off the hanger first. I’m not a fashionista although I shoot fashion. What is your favorite type of food? Delicious dishes from ripe vegetables and fruit. What is one thing on your bucket list that you would like to complete by end of the year? I want to learn singing and playing an instrument. I had been always saying that my dream occupation is being a rockstar. (joking) Netflix or a night out on the town? Depends on my mood and who is my Netflix company ;) Do you prefer brunch or lunch? Certainly Brunch! Brunch is the only thing I like about Sunday, that I find to be the dullest day otherwise. Everything is closed and I can't reach out to anyone. Issue 8 | 45

HOW TO MAKE YOUR PERSONAL BRAND STAND OUT By: Vanessa Buchanan As an entrepreneur, creator or professional, being able to explain who and what your company is all about can be difficult if you are not good at storytelling. Most large corporations hire communication specialists that come in to tell the story of the company.

Bill Gates and Microsoft, Richard Branson and Virgin, Steve Jobs and Apple—these entrepreneurs have distinct personal brands that are inseparable from the companies that they've built. These entrepreneurs take whatever makes them special and they project it in a consistent, authentic, and impactful way.

What makes your personal brand effective? 1. Build your brand's story. Having a storyline for your brand is crucial for your audience to understand who and what your brand stands for. Effective storytelling is about representing change—it’s about showing, not telling, your audience how you got from point A to point B. 2. What is your elevator pitch? Have a shorter description to describe your personal brand statement. Within the pitch, you should be able to sell your audience on the KNOW, FEEL and DO on what your brand is. What do you want the customer to KNOW? How do you want the customer to FEEL about the brand? What would you like your customer to DO (call to action)? Your personal brand statement should also consist of three key elements: Your target audience: The specific market or people that you serve. The value you offer: How you help your target market. What makes you unique: Why people choose you over the competition.

3. Highlighting success stories. For most entrepreneurs, family and friends are their first customers. In turn, your family and friends will refer your business to others. Many of your referrals will come with a great review, that is the reason why your brand is being referred. So make sure to capture those success stories or reviews online so that anyone looking for your products or services can read about how great of a company you are running. If a milestone or a victory is significant to you, tell people—whether it's launching your business, reaching a certain number of sales or sharing an article you were featured in or something nice a customer said. Share parts of your journey as they happen and those with an interest in your unfolding story will follow along too.

4. Curate online content to share your story Content marketing is huge in this day and age. Content marketing attracts prospects and transforms prospects into customers by creating and sharing valuable free content. Content marketing helps companies create sustainable brand loyalty, provides valuable information to consumers, and creates a willingness to purchase products from the company in the future. What you choose to share reflects you and your interests, while also helping you to maintain an active, authentic presence online. You can start a vlog on YouTube, reaching out to be on podcasts, guest post on other blogs, or offer a behind-the-scenes look at what you're up to through Snapchat or Instagram Stories. The same rules apply as with content marketing in general: Put out content that your audience cares about, capture their interest, and earn more attention over time. 5. Stay active online. Business owners who are active online have an advantage in front of their online audience that can be broadened to online customers. Nowadays the amount of followers you have does not translate to how rich you will be. Most online shoppers will have to see the product on someone else before they purchase the product or service. You don't need to win the most followers award or be a multi-millionaire to build a personal brand. If you are active online, if you share your thoughts and maintain consistency, you're already ahead of most in building yours.

SEVEN ONLINE BUSINESS IDEAS TO START IN 2019 By: Vanessa Buchanan

1. Online Clothing Boutique Owner The majority of the population cannot afford to open a brick and mortar fashion boutique, so that option is simply out of the question. But with the help of technology, it is possible for you to open an online fashion store. And better yet — you don’t need any experience or money to get started! Consumers are increasingly more comfortable with purchasing clothes online, as opposed to visiting a conventional clothing store in their local city. This is because there are many advantages to shopping online, including a less stressful atmosphere and the convenience of shopping in the comfort of your own home. Consumers are attracted to online clothing boutiques not only because of the high level of convenience they stand to enjoy, but also because of the broader options, highly competitive pricing, and of course accessibility to a broader range of information.

2. Web Designer Once you have decided to be in the business of web design, you will have to seek a mentor or a coach. Let professional web designers be your guide, and look for their tips and advice. This means you will have to spend a lot of time researching and looking for good materials that will inspire you. You also should become a part of the web designer community and learn from their mistakes or successes. For instance, spending time on web design forums to address any questions you may have before getting started. The web design community is huge, and you can easily find help if you search for it. Follow other web designers, choose your favorites, but remember to create your own personal style that’s unique to you. Just as in any business, it is unprofessional and frowned upon to copy another’s work, so gain inspiration from others, but don’t plagiarize. Before taking the leap into starting your web design business and charging clients for your services, think about building your portfolio by partaking in a couple of free projects in return for a client review.

3. Business Coach A coach is an individual who has been professionally trained or has the first-hand experience in a particular subject matter which helps others achieve their goals. As a subject matter expert in coaching services, you can offer valuable expertise and information to individuals who do not adequately possess the level of knowledge or experience required to successfully accomplish their end goals. If you enjoy helping people and would like to help them meet their goals, coaching can be a good alternative to counseling services (depending on the topic). In fact with the internet, advances in technology and social media, the landscape of coaching has changed dramatically. Individuals are no longer limited to just career or life coaching; but can work remotely to provide coaching in a wide variety of niches such as career, weight loss, and time management.

4. Personal Shopper Within the last decade, personal shopping services have emerged as a rapidly growing industry with a high potential for profitable operations. It is a service that appeals to corporate clients, Â as well as busy individuals with an above average income. An enterprising individual who provides this type of service can earn good profits from such a business. Since a personal shopping business falls within a highly competitive industry, you need to ensure that you include many areas of specialization within your services to grow your client base. Â For example, in addition to shopping solely for your client, offering an additional gift purchasing service to specialize in purchasing clothing, accessories, and holiday gifts on behalf of your clients.

5. Wardrobe Stylist Wardrobe styling is one of the most popular emerging professions in the fashion world globally. However, finding work as a wardrobe stylist is very competitive and one has to work very hard to gain consistent employment in this field. Any good wardrobe stylist must have a passion for fashion and a keen eye for detail. You must also continuously research the most recent trends and color schemes, be on the lookout for emerging fashion trends and be in the know about fashion labels. Looking presentable in your clothes inspires self-confidence, and allows you to make a professional impression, which helps you gain the trust of clients and colleagues. Note, that often clients who enlist the services of a wardrobe stylist prefer to try everything on at home, and on their own time without the burden of pesky salespeople, crowded malls, or cramped dressing rooms.

6. Fashion & Lifestyle Blogger How do you go from blogging on the side to making it your full-time career? All you need is a serious interest in the industry, an eye for future trends, and something personal and unique to say. With these building blocks, you can become a popular, money-making fashion and lifestyle blogger. Of course, as a fashion blogger, you'll need to think of multiple streams of income. Affiliate marketing and working with an ad network, and creating a product can help to fill in the gaps. Blogging as a full-time career is all about making a name for yourself and really networking to make it a viable work option. It’s not easy, but the rewards are worth it!

7. Social Media Consultant Thousands of companies are hiring social media consultants, so this may be the perfect time for you to start your firm. Social media consultants serve as the face and voice of the business in social networks. They run social media campaigns, improve engagement and loyalty with social media posts, and ultimately try to drive sales from social platforms. Starting a social media consulting business is not easy. You have to build your business from the ground up like any other business. You need to make sure that you have the necessary qualifications before you can sign clients. There’s a lot of work involved, but it can be a very lucrative career that’s currently in high demand.

KREWE: THE NEW ORLEANS SUNGLASSES BRAND THAT BEYONCÉ WEARS BY ANGELA BRICKLEY The New Orleans based sunglasses brand, Krewe, launched back in 2013, and are now gracing the pages of major media outlets with celebrities like Beyonce and Gigi Hadid rocking these stylish sunglasses. So why has the brand become so popular? Not only are celebrities wearing these retro style sunglasses, but department stores such as Nordstrom, Bloomingdales, and Neiman Marcus (just to name a few) are also buying into the brand. They captivate consumers with their retro-inspired shapes in striking colors, and mixed materials, often with colored or mirrored lenses. The company is notable for being one of the few fashion brands to come out of New Orleans, and to remain close to its roots, even as the label took off and gained popularity.
