Chateau de la Treyne, France The French castle Chateau de la Treyne really reminds me of a fairytale castle. It is perched high on a cliff top and has magnificent views partly over the Dordogne River, and partly of a lush and extensive forest area. The castle, located in the Dordogne area of southwestern France, was built back in 1342. After a long history, during which the castle had several different owners, it was bought by the Gombert family in 1982. Today, they organize a number of cultural events, including art exhibitions and concerts, to hold the cultural flag high and thus to „keep alive“ the ancient stones. The huge castle offers 17 different rooms and an excellent in-house restaurant that boasts one Michelin star. The chef is Stéphane Andrieux and if you combine his cuisine with the view from the castle‘s terrace you know that it just can‘t get any better! Every real watch lover has their own personal wish list of the watches and types of watches they would love to own once in their life. At the top of my list is an aviator watch. Over the past few months, I have come across watches that have piqued my interest – such as the Zenith Pilot Type 20 with a

case size of 45 mm, or the IWC Big Pilot‘s Watch Heritage with a diameter of 46.2 mm. Meanwhile, my heart beats for vintage watches – though I don’t absolutely need a used original from World War II, since the condition and previous owners of such watches are hard to assess. The fact that many of the aviator watches on the market are offered with vintage wristbands, but are otherwise anything but old, does not make the search any easier. Nevertheless, I have recently found a watch that seems to combine all these essentials in one model. But more about that later...
