The multifaceted artist Natalia Schäfer
Text by Susanne Lieb Translation Louise Mawbey
Delicate mandalas with spiritual and contemplative patterns in glimmering shades of metallic colours illuminate spaces from the walls, alongside expressive abstract paintings and Africanstyle pieces inspired by folk art – you can’t pigeonhole Natalia Schäfer. The work of the autodidact, who was born in Russia and has lived in Germany for many years, is as multifaceted as the techniques she has developed. She uses materials such as genuine gold, silver and copper to perfect her paintings. Driven on by a profound appreciation of aesthetics, her gifts to the viewer are instances of beauty and relaxation in our often hectic everyday lives. “With my art, I would like to give people a brief respite, time to pause for a moment, in order to enable them to see once again how beautiful life and the natural world are.” Natalia Schäfer has taken part in numerous solo and group exhibitions and art shows in Berlin, London, Zurich, Gstaad, Miami and New York. Since 2009, she has produced a variety of calendars, stationery products and gift books to great success, together with renowned Germanlanguage publishers. In addition, she regularly runs workshops aimed at encouraging creativity in children and adults. In line with clients’ wishes, she also works as a street artist to design indoor and outdoor spaces – it just isn’t possible to pigeonhole Natalia Schäfer. Art is the journey of a free soul – the Swiss acrylic artist Patricia Schweizer.
Samadhi Art is the enterprise started by the Swiss acrylic artist Patricia Schweizer (35). She is passionate about travel and her motto is “Wherever you go, go with all your heart.” “I always travel with a “free soul” and try to soak up as many impressions and as much inspiration as possible. I then return to my studio where I process these experiences and give them life in my paintings.” The paints she selects are as colourful as the experiences on her journeys; the broad, powerful brush strokes are as dynamic as the painter herself. Elegantly perfected with sophisticated colours such as gold, copper and silver, she creates expressive, abstract works which adorn the private lounges and bedrooms of their buyers, enrich hotel suites or decorate medical practices and beauty clinics. The next exhibition will be held in Zurich in the autumn 2020. Find out more: mysamadhiart

Swiss acrylic artist Partricia Schweizer Absolutely unique “Luisa” metal design: «sunrise» by Greta Rohner.
She works with brass and a hand grinder – the Swiss metal artist Greta Rohner (47), with her workshop in St. Gallen (near Altenrhein airport), uses a technique she developed herself to create aesthetic “Luisa” wall decorations which are unique the world over in terms of workmanship and design. “I liberate the Luisa who is lying dormant within the brass panel; she is a luminous diva and a goddess – she is pure sunlight. For me, each work is a momentous experience,” explains Greta. With the hand grinder and a variety of discs, she penetrates the brass panels to differing depths and fashions sweeping, flowing shapes with “smooth, swaying movements”, thus creating unique, 3D-effect pieces in gold and brown tones. By applying selected liquid chemicals to specific points, the artist then intuitively decorates her “Luisa” with additional colours (blue, violet, grey,...). The picture is finished with a layer of hard, crystal clear, UV-stable automotive paint which gives the “Luisa” a highgloss, resplendent shine and protects it from environmental impact. In addition to exclusive wall decorations, “Luisa” can also be used to create wall elements for interiors and even to enhance the design of everyday objects. The human form, born of paint, in continual metamorphosis. Nicola Barth creates metamorphoses in oil – physical and full of life.
“As if there stands before me the human form, born of paint, in a state of constant, breathtaking metamorphosis” (Dr. Roland Held) Vigour and expressive tenseness. Figurative associations that are evocative of organic or geological processes. Cryptic titles such as “Tso Naduni Namie” and “Hono Badi Nei” that are meant to resonate rather than be understood. Paintings that present more questions than answers. This is an apt description of Nicola Barth’s (living) creations. Nicola Barth is a painter who occasionally forays into the world of the physical (sculpture) or the digital (photography). She mainly paints in oils on paper and canvas and loves to work in large formats. Ideas about morphology, the spirit, matter, energy, insight, transformation, time and space accompany her works and are also what spurs her on. “My paintings emerge from an internal dilemma. It is not possible to comprehend the world completely. I therefore paint what I don’t understand but crave to understand. As an artist, one is always a seismograph, travelling through the world with one’s tentacles fully spread and ready to absorb experiences. My paintings are snapshots of processes of development, comparable with a film clip that only depicts a randomly chosen and minuscule part of a very large entirety.” Nicola Barth’s works have been nominated for various art awards and have been on show in numerous (curated) individual and group exhibitions in Germany and abroad over the last few years. www.nicola-barth.de nicola.barth Artist Nicola Barth

Art is my life and my life is Art – The Swiss artist Ursula Straumann.
Ursula has been painting for as long as she can remember. Art has always been one of the most important aspects of her life. Originally beginning with watercolours, moving on to painting in charcoal (nudes), then to the acrylic works which she creates now, she draws from a great wealth of knowledge about the various techniques and styles of painting. For 30 years now, the Swiss artist has been teaching the old and the young in schools as well as in private courses. She organises her own exhibitions and helps her students to set up their own art exhibitions and galleries. Her artworks are vibrant, usually colourful and always with a great desire for harmony. The piece “Vietnam” was created after an impactful trip through Vietnam and it is a homage to the re-blossoming and revival of this nation after the Vietnam War (1955 to 1975). surya.like.art
