Time passes; Churchill’s words are now seventy-seven years old, and it may seem as if everything has changed. It feels like things have been different for decades, but is that really the case? We can interpret what has become a Churchill catchphrase, in different ways, but what I hear in his words is this: silence is criminal. Silence is the fate of the weak. To censor is to shackle the conscience. We have been given a voice to speak. Sometimes even to scream. We have been given a voice – be it loud, quiet, barely perceptible; whichever it may be, it has been given us so that we may express our thoughts, feelings, emotions and aspirations. Let’s do something reflective: let’s each choose one subject – a problem or cause that resonates in the soul; that touches the heart. And we will talk about it as often and as loudly as our projection allows. Let it resonate like Mariah Carey or the glorious Caruso, it doesn’t matter, as long as it gets heard. Ecology, nature, caring for our oceans and protecting animals, protection of human rights, protection of architectural monuments, preservation of culture, Ukraine, Artsakh, Armenia, Israel... Let us not be silent. Then perhaps there is a chance that together we will change something for the better. Then we have some hope. And if we have that, we already have so much. Our magazine is all about luxury lifestyle, about holidays and beauty, about super-abundance and well-being, about rich, famous and massively successful people. We cultivate this philosophy, we set trends, we
influence tastes; but can there be pleasure from luxury, without conscience, kindness and compassion? All that remains for us is airtime, words, pages, social platforms, and the readers who trust us. DEVOTION 70YO len Grant Devotion 70yo is a whiskey from 1953, which spent its entire maturation period in a single French oak butt barrel, seasoned with sherry. Only 7 carafes were created. The presentation of the oldest whiskey in the history of the Glen Grant distillery is the result of cooperation with artist John Galvin and master Brodie Nairn from Glasstorm. The seven-faced crystal work of art, as well as the drink itself, is a tribute to Queen Elizabeth II and to the seven decades of her reign. The closure of each carafe is made of silver and is decorated with an individual floral motif. The first decanter boasts a unique engraving of The Queen Elizabeth Rose. The first decanter (‘Number One’) was auctioned by Sotheby’s for a record $135K and the proceed was donated to the Royal Scottish Forestry Society, for which Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II was patron.

olls-Royce La Rose Noire Droptail is embolden by the allure of the Black Baccara rose, an intense, velvet-like flower that originates in France and is beloved by the mother of the commissioning family. The dark pomegranate colour of its petals appears almost black in shade, but in direct light, a red, pearlescent shimmer is revealed on the dark surface. These two colours form the primary palette of La Rose Noire Droptail. The first red shade is named ‘True Love’ in recognition of the romance the client wished to capture in this commission. The darker tone is named ‘Mystery’, inspired by the mysterious nature of the rose, which appears to change colour when viewed from dif-
ferent angles. A removable hard top has been designed to give Droptail two distinct characters: without its roof Droptail is a lithe, open-top roadster; with the roof installed, it becomes a formidable and dramatic coupé. Exclusively for La Rose Noire, the roof is uniquely lowslung, which is further exaggerated with a faster and longer rake to underpin its assertive, glamorous character. Behind it, an ingot with the name of the motor car is included – the first for Rolls-Royce. The completely Bespoke roof also features an electrochromic glass section, inviting patrons to explore the world above. A significant exterior element is the treatment of the striking alloy wheels, which features the dark Mystery paint finish.

INTERIOR The most remarkable element of this extraordinary motor car is its cocooning interior. This reveals the most complex expression of parquetry ever created at Rolls-Royce. The artwork represents an abstract expression of falling rose petals, formed using 1,603 pieces of black wood veneer triangles. The highly complex pattern is formed with 1,070 perfectly symmetrical elements forming the background, and 533 asymmetrically positioned red pieces representing the rose petals. The asymmetry was requested by the clients to represent a natural, organic ‘scattering’ of petals. Made from Black Sycamore wood sourced in France as a subtle tribute to the French provenance of
La Rose Noire, each triangle is cut, sanded and precisely positioned by hand. Its two seats are decorated at the edges with both dark red Mystery leather, and light red True Love leather, each finished with a subtle copper shimmer, evoking the pearlescent texture of the Black Baccara rose petals. The fascia of Rolls-Royce La Rose Noire Droptail is provisioned with an integrated one-off timepiece by Audemars Piguet, which was specially commissioned by the client. The 43-mm Royal Oak Concept Split-Seconds Chronograph GMT Large Date is powered by a unique self-winding Calibre 4407 movement, featuring a flyback chronograph and a split-seconds mechanism.

Clive Christian fragrances were extremely popular among high society and were inseparable parts of the hand luggage traveling with their owners around the world. They received wide distri bution and recognition at international exhibitions as well. It is brightly evidenced by the multiple awards on the labels of vintage bottles. One of the brightest examples that Clive Christian’s clients were influential and wealthy people was the flacon found in the first-class cabin of the Titanic. The dominant individuals on the most innovative of its time British passenger liner decorously trav eled with their favourite perfumes. And Clive Christian’s master pieces were also their spokeless witnesses at the midnight dream. In 1999, a visionary designer – Clive Christian OBE - acquired the storied Crown Perfumery Company. Clive Christian’s iconic collections blend the company’s history of perfume opulence with future-forward vision. The brand boasts Original Collection, Pri vate Collection, Noble Collection, Addictive Arts, Crown Collec tion, and The Absolutes. In the same year of acquiring the Crown Perfumery Company, Clive Christian Perfume launched the Orig inal Collection, which included 1872, X and No.1. The pioneering perfumes since 1999, are now signature and classic collection. It is all about the artistry of perfume in its pure form through the use of the most exquisite ingredients. The first inspiration I drew from the scent of the perfume was like unlocking the door to a world of exploration,” says Yukako Sakakura. he Cannes Film Festival, one of the most prestigious film events in the world, returned in 2023 to the Croisette to celebrate its 76th anniversary. This year for the first time the Festival was held under the leadership of a female president - Iris Knobloch, the producer from Germany, who is responsible for the Cannes Film Festival from 2023 to 2025. Iris herself stated that she would make every effort to ensure that the event continues to influence world culture. Every year, Cannes attracts celebrities from all over the world. Of course, no Cannes Film Festival is complete without one of the most significant and symbolic events - The Red Carpet and “La montée des marches”. Walking up the Red Carpet is a moment of pure glamour and elegance in the best outfits of the major brands of the festival – Yves Saint Laurent, Dior, Alexander McQueen, Valentino... And, surely, on the steps of the Palais des Festivals, the actresses and actors shine with luxurious watches and high jewellery from the Red Carpet collection masterfully crafted by Chopard. DIDIER CASNATI THE GYPSY QUEENS The Gypsy Queens is an international band formed in Nice by Didier Casnati. They play a large repertoire of multi-lingual covers, with a rich vocal style. Although their albums feature music legends and world famous actors, they are first and foremost a performing band and the pioneers of "roaming" or "strolling" type of performances. “Life was tough, and I was made homeless, and busking was a means of survival since I only had myself to count on,” says Didier Casnati.

Sitting in one of the most upscale casinos in the UK, the Crown London Aspinalls Casino also known as a dining hotspot for Hollywood stars, Didi is flicking through pictures from LUXURY International Magazine’s latest edition. He stops on the Aston Martin DBS 70 page for a third time like he’s just won a game of Three Card Poker. What is the 6 ft Italian star often mistaken for Orlando Bloom trying to tell us? “The universe is trying to tell me something,” he says, his leading man mien transformed into a boyish Hollywood grin. Has he joined the never-ending list of candidates considered to be the next James Bond? “No,” he smiles, “I’ve just flown back from Miami and New York where I was with Tony Danza who sings alongside me on
“Buona Sera Signorina” which is featured on the ‘Reminiscing with Friends’ album.” Tony is the 80s Taxi heartthrob who jams with Didi on the track with over 1 million views on YouTube the song tells a tale that is close to Didi’s heart of a young homeless 14-year-oldboy in Nice who dreamed of becoming a star which fasts-forward to the modern millennial we see before us today. This is the life of a charismatic artist who through hardship, grit, and determination has developed ‘star quality’ one big names fall over themselves

Not bad for a young musical maestro inspired by the likes of his English teacher, Mr. Peters, The Beatles, and Michael Jackson “They influenced me in so many ways, Mr. Peters playing guitar and The Beatles and Michael as humanitarians, philanthropists, and artists who transcended culture.” Busking with Beckham, Beyonce & Blackpink Busking may be as organic as a live music experience gets and with busking in Didi’s blood, will we see him surprise commuters with an impromptu performance at London’s St Pancras International station with Beckham followed by a follow-up country Busking tour with the likes of Beyonce, Blackpink and Coldplay in the UK, US or Asia soon?, he laughs, “I actually played football with David Beckham in the Maldives when he was on holiday with his family. “I mean I would love to busk with David and Chris Martin together as long as we’re not busking football, ” and the Grammy-dominating Queen Bee that is Beyonce Knowles-Carter, “that would be a dream come true,” he smiles, and what about K-pop sensation Blackpink a group that has become one of K-pop’s biggest acts and a global force to be reckoned with who were entertained by none other than King Charles III at a banquet in Buckingham Palace. “Absolutely! he beams, Jeannie Kim’s Jazz performance of ‘You and Me’ is out of this world and would be a great collaboration to perform together when they tour Miami or Seoul since the boys and I have never been to Korea.”

ictoria, can you tell us how the concept for your project came to be? How did you decide to fuse the art of theatre with gastronomy? Victoria Strekalina: The joy of being an entrepreneur lies in bringing bold visions to life. Sometimes, it’s those seemingly wild ideas that turn out to be iconic. I’ve always aimed to be at the cutting edge, pushing boundaries in whatever I undertake. My business ethos has always seen cuisine as an art form, ripe for blending into any domain. Before the inception of our immersive Gastro Show, I ran a successful catering business for over a decade. Within just two years, we rose to be industry frontrunners, consistently ranking among the top three in our region. What set us apart wasn’t merely the gourmet food we served but the creative flair we infused into it. A decade ago, we began tailoring our dishes to specific events. Take, for example, a LEGO-themed children’s party where our treats and décor emulated recognisable LEGO shapes. For a project inspired by the Northern Lights, we conjured up an icy frappe presentation, shimmering in hues of blue, purple, and green. Even serving fish was transformed to encapsulate the spirit of the North. Our commitment to imaginative presentation and intricate details was that for this particular project even our menu was encased in ice. Such innovations quickly got us noticed, solidifying our leadership position. The desire to intertwine culinary artistry with other fields, especially theatre, has always been strong in me. I’m captivated by the world of theatre and often find it a rich source of inspiration for my ventures. But I always yearned for more, which drove me to establish my theatre — a space where I could bring my myriad creative concepts to life, seamlessly merged with delectable dishes. The

85 idea of utilising a theatrical narrative to elevate a meal into a performance, echoing the theatrical theme within each dish, has been deeply inspiring. Just as theatre engages audiences on multi-sensory levels, our Gastro Show aims to tantalise all five senses, offering an unparalleled gastronomic experience. Let’s delve a bit deeper into the individuals behind this ex hilarating project. Could you tell us more about yourself and your team? Anton Dorogobed: As the producer responsible for all the comprehensive organisational and technological solution for the project, my skills and enthusiasm transform our shows into vibrant and unforgettable experiences. Victoria Strekalina is the founder and executive producer of the project. Her role involves shaping comprehensive concepts and ensuring a harmonious blend of the script, show elements, and culinary presentation. She acts as a connecting link between the two worlds to provide a cohesive style and impression for our guests. Igor Glyanenko is our commercial partner, handling the business aspects and aiding in the successful launch of the show. His expertise and professionalism not only furnish the commercial component of the project but also contribute to its flourishing. Vagan Saroyan is our talented director, whose professional career and acting talent breathe life into any event, infusing it with meaning. Then, there’s Lyubov Shevkun. As our Operations Director, she is capable of bringing any idea to life. Katya Reshetnikova and Vitaliy Savchenko are our gifted choreographers who are setting new benchmarks in the dance industry. They create distinct and incredibly colourful dance numbers for our

performances. Victoria, can you elaborate on the primary concept and idea behind your project? Victoria Strekalina: The “WHAT ELSE” project is not just a dinner or lunch event. It’s an art form that captivates all our senses, allowing guests to immerse themselves in a mesmerising world of flavours, scents, and captivating narratives. We offer unique experiences that engage all five senses: sight, hearing, smell, touch, and taste. From November 21 to March 8, we have scheduled 68 shows over 34 evenings. Our format grants a selected group of guests not just the role of spectators but also the privilege of becoming active participants in an enthralling storyline. We’re crafting a multi-dimensional experience, which includes a wow-factor, interaction between guests and performers, savouring exquisite dishes, appreciating beautiful music, dances, and drama. Every show is complemented by an impressive stage setup. Interactivity is at the heart of our shows. Guests have the power to influence the progression of events, transitioning from mere audience members to active participants, interacting with both the performers and the food. This results in a myriad of emotions since the narrative’s direction often hinges on the guests’ involvement. Our performance also features musical and dance segments that intertwine with our inventive culinary presentations. For instance, in one of our shows, the audience had the pleasure of savouring a salad descending from a chandelier, served in the form of spheres. These spheres were an integral part of that chandelier where, moments earlier, performers executed gymnastic

It’s for people who have travelled extensively and are accustomed to specific gastronomic standards of quality and exclusive entertainment. Our show is perfect for a romantic dinner when there’s a desire to surprise a partner or a beloved one, celebrate an anniversary, or any other significant occasion. Additionally, we are open to large corporate events and are ready to modify the show’s script to suit specific requests for business events, corporate gatherings, or presentations. Igor, what intrigues you about gastro shows, and why did you specifically choose the UAE, Dubai in particular? Igor Glyanenko: We see significant growth potential in the UAE and the MENA region as a whole. This region is rapidly developing and is gradually emerging as a global hub for tourism, culture, and art. Bearing this in mind, we are planning to launch new projects, tailoring them to cater to the interests of each country in the region. In the near future, we plan to open a second show in Dubai, which will be not only an entertainment venture but certainly a cultural phenomenon, bridging people of various nationalities and backgrounds.

Jeremy and Shira Piven grew up in a family of theatre artists. This is their first collaboration as actor and Director. “This is not a typical World War II story,” says the director. “I was compelled to make this film because it is, at root, a contemporary story. Harold May is a man so desperate for success, he finds himself tap dancing as the world falls apart. Eventually, Harold is pressed to make choices as a human being, more specifically as a Jew, that connect him with an essential, perhaps buried, part of himself. We are absolutely thrilled to have our world premiere in Rome. We shot the film entirely in Europe, and have such an international cast and crew, I know this will feel like home.” The Performance has been a true labour of love for Jeremy Piven who attributes his mother for presenting him with what he calls the role of his career. “My mother gave me Arthur Miller’s piece that appeared in The New Yorker and said ‘I think you would like the story and I can see you playing Harold.’ My sister Shira and I grew up in the theatre and embodied the work of playwrights. We come from a theatre family, both of our parents were actors, directors and teachers. My mom was my acting teacher since I was 8, and Shira is the best actor’s director I’ve ever worked with, so it became a family project.” “It was an honour to inhabit Harold May,” Piven continues. “An actor lives for a brilliant piece to work with and this is a brilliant piece. I’ve been trying to make this film for 12 years, and being in

It is going to lead to a lot of conversations I can’t wait to have.” Robert Carlyle is almost unrecognizable as the Nazi administrator, true to his Method roots. Many actors have played Nazis over the years and one of the defining lines in each character is how much good versus how much bad there is. “That’s what Arthur Miller does brilliantly well,” said Carlyle, “all of these characters are incredibly three dimensional. MOCAK MUSEUM OF CONTEMPORARY ART IN KRAKOW One of the main sightseeings
T
he Museum of Contemporary Art in Krakow MOCAK is located on the premises of the former Oskar Schindler factory in Krakow, adjacent to the Oskar Schindler’s Factory Museum. The exhibition space enfolded the buildings, making use of the open area in between the buildings that had been made available to the Museum. This resulted in an irregular, sprawling form that itself became significant, enhancing the size of the exhibition space, stretching from the main entrance in Lipowa Street to the open space in the north at the back of the building. The south wall, on which the Museum logo is displayed, marks the beginning of the route. It was established in 2010 and it was in the same year that the first works found their way to the Collection. During the years of the Museum’s existence, they have succeeded in acquiring 5107 works (with 1215 distinct inventory numbers) by 333 Polish and international artists. One of the main aims of the expansion of the Collection is to achieve the Museum’s statutory objectives by collecting and presenting Polish art from the second half of the 20th
century against the background of world art. Just as important are the presentation of the main trends of contemporary art and popularisation of the achievements of the leading artists across diverse audiences. The largest part of MOCAK Collection is the Potocka Gallery Collection, which was donated in two tranches, in 2011 and 2014. It goes back to the 1970s and was involved in Maria Anna Potocka’s endeavour to establish a Museum of Contemporary Art in Krakow. The works comprised in the original Potocka Gallery Collection are the core of MOCAK Collection, around which it is being extended. Other donors include artists and collectors. In 2011, from Mikołaj Smoczyński’s heirs, MOCAK received a legacy of the artist’s works and an archive. These are the artist’s both early and late paintings together with a photographic archive of several thousand negatives and prints. They change the arrangement of the Collection annually, combining the new exhibition with different issues. New works constitute at least half of each new edition. It is worthy visitng the museum to see the new contemporary artworks.

BETTER WORLD FUND THE 80TH EDITION OF THE VENICE FILM FESTIVAL

ince 2016, BWF, Better World Fund, a Paris-based non-profit organisation, has been organising prestigious international events and inspiring cultural programmes. This year again, in the sublime Palazzos of the Ca’ Sagredo Hotel and the Misericordia di Venezia, influential individuals from around the world were gathered. As stated by Manuel Collas de La Roche, President and Founder of Better World Fund: “… the BWF edition in Venice will celebrate women, and raise awareness about the place and power of women in the film industry… It is essential to continue supporting and encouraging the involvement of women in all aspects of the film industry in order to create a more equitable and inclusive society for all.” During gala evening, which took place on September 8 at La Scuola Grande Della Misericordia, in the presence of Isabelle Huppert, Jeremy Piven, the Soprano Joyce El-Khoury, many celebrities supported this commitment through their attendance, contributing their image to a cause

of Women Empowerment in the Image of Maria Callas. Symbolising this theme, Euzhan Palcy, a celebrated filmmaker, has been commemorated for her achievements. She received an honorary Oscar last November and was recognised as the first Black director to win the Silver Lion at the 1983 Venice Mostra. She further garnered a César Award for Best First Work, a historic achievement for a female and Black director. Recently, she was honoured with Medals of Honor from the Society of Dramatic Arts and Composers in France and the French National Assembly. The Better World Fund supported the Maria Callas Foundation, in honour of her centenary, the mission of which is to search and gather archives from all over the world in order to build a museum collection. Tom Volf, a leading expert on Maria Callas, highlighted the film he has just directed with Moni ca Bellucci, following the success of his last film “Maria by Callas” in 2017 which became an award-winning documentary and the most-watched French-produced film

he Gulf Superyacht Summit by SuperYacht Times is an annual two-day Summit that informs, assists and advises yachting clients and related interested stakeholders, with the goal to develop the Gulf as a leading winter superyacht destination. This year’s Summit was scheduled to convene in Abu Dhabi on 22 and 23 November. The GULF SUPERYACHT MARKET REPORT 2023 was also available and distributed at the Summit. With major infrastructure and development across the Gulf in recent years, and new marinas constructed in Saudi Arabia, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Qatar, and the wider region, there was a panel of experts if these new facilities have been

The presentation of the 3D printing in the maritime industry highlighted the implications of 3D printing in the yachting industry and its recent developments. Case Study was 69m Vripack/Vitters Project Zero. Commissioned three years ago to develop a sailing yacht with entirely fossil-free operation, the presentation explored the evolution of Project Zero and its impact on the yachting sector. Monday to Thursday business meetings in PHOENIX2, on Friday a 6-hour executive board meeting at the company’s GLOBAL HQ, and next week the same again, jetting from one meeting to the next – always AVANTI, AVANTI! And then finally: Vacations with my family. A week off, just us: my wife VALERIE and our kids. What a contrast, what an OASIS of peace. Our son RONIN, an ACE in sports, in the CORAL OCEAN all day long – windsurfing, wakeboarding, kitesurfing. Our daughters AMADEA and TITANIA enjoying their school holidays on board the spacious yacht, too. My wife and I, swimming in the main deck’s infinity pool, and later indulging in A+ quality dining. In the evenings, we’d go down to the cinema to watch movies, or we’d sit on deck, looking into the star-lit sky over the PACIFIC, just to wake up the next morning, pampered by the RISING SUN’s first warm beams.
