Aloha Las islas sagradas Hawaianas son un lugar único de belleza cautivante en donde el espíritu de Aloha fluye libremente. Situada en medio del océano Pacífico, son la cadena de islas más remota del mundo. Algunos dicen que las siete islas se relacionan a las siete energías de los chacras, cada una capaz de facilitar la habilidad para conectar consigo mismo y con la tierra de forma única. La isla de Oahu, el punto focal de esta edición, es conocida como el lugar de encuentro. Representando el chacra de la garganta, siendo verdaderamente la voz de las islas. Con aguas aguamarinas y cielos despejados color azul, se acuerpa perfectamente el color del 5to chacra. Algunos de los surf breaks más famosos en el mundo se encuentran al norte de Oahu, y durante el invierno surfistas de todo el mundo se amontonan en busca de los tubos azul verdosos. Los cuales se presentan en abundancia y son para muchos su definición de ola perfecta.
The sacred Hawaiian islands are unique places of mesmerizing
beauty where the spirit of Aloha flows freely. Located in the middle of the pacific ocean, they are the most remote island chain in the world. Some say that the seven islands resonate with the seven chakra energies, with each one lending a unique ability to connect to oneself and to the earth. The island of Oahu, the focal point of this issue, is known as “the gathering place”. As the throat chakra, it truly is the voice of the islands. With aquamarine waters and clear blue skies, it embodies the color of the 5th chakra perfectly. Some of the most famous surf breaks in the world are located on the north shore of Oahu, and during the Winter surfers from all over the world flock here in search of the perfect wave. They are rarely disappointed, as glassy blue-green barrels are in abundance.

Esta fue la primera vez que surfeé Waimea esa temporada. Fue el segundo swell más grande que pegó en Hawaii desde que llegué en el winter. Ese día entré al mar a las 8:30 am. con mi novio y sus amigos. No esperaba que el mar se fuera a poner así de grande porque la previsión de esta temporada ha sido un poco errónea. El reporte de las olas siempre decía que iba a estar grande pero por alguna razón disminuía al momento de arribar.

was the first time I surfed Waimea this season, it was the second big swell since I got here this winter. I got to the bay at 8:30 am; I was surfing with my boyfriend and our friends. I was not expecting it to be big, because the swell report had not been accurate the last swells. The swell would always fade on the way here and waves were never as big as predicted. This is why it was such a surprise for me when I saw the first set. There were a lot of people surfing at the Bay. Esta temporada en Hawaii fue una muy especial para mí. Siempre trato de ir a Hawaii mínimo un mes para poder surfear olas grandes y acostumbrarme a la fuerza y al crowd. Estuve dos semanas en noviembre en las cuales el mar estaba bastante chico, de igual manera me quedé en la casa Rip Curl frente de Off the Wall. Por primera vez con el equipo internacional de la marca, una oportunidad única. Entró un buen swell en Noviembre y me dí una de las olas más grandes de este donde me metí al tubo, pero la ola se cerró toda. Fue tan grande y linda que la foto que me sacaron dentro del agua por el famoso Zack Noyle salió en el instagram de Surfer Mag y más de 25 mil personas la vieron. En diciembre regresé a Mar del Plata para pasar las fiestas en familia y amigos. Me quedé en Argentina hasta casi fines de enero donde competí en la primera fecha del Circuito Nacional Reef Classic
y lo gané. Empezando el año bien volví a Hawaii el 25 de enero a 4 días de que empezara el Volcom Pipe Pro, una de las fechas que más me gusta del circuito WQS. En Hawaii siempre me quedo en la casa de mi gran amigo Luis Real y su mujer Stephany. Ellos y los vecinos Mike y Breen me tratan como familia y me hacen sentir de la mejor manera. El Volcom Pipe Pro además de ser una de las olas más respetadas por todos los surfistas por su fuerza, historia y dificultad es la única fecha del WQS donde también se hace el WCT. Este año no tuvimos las olas grandes pero siempre un día mínimo increíble tuvimos. En este torneo compiten grandes surfistas como Kelly Slater, John John Florence, Adraino de Souza, Wigolly Dantas y muchos más. Fue mi mejor año en esta fecha ya que quedé 5to lugar llegando a la semifinal y ganándole al gran campeón mundial John John Florence en su casa. 8
Hice historia siendo el único argentino no sólo en competir en esta ola sino en llegar a la semifinal y si hubiera llegado a la final habría sido el tercer latino en hacerlo. Al final tuve un muy buen desempeño en el torneo y las olas fuera y dentro de la competencia estuvieron divertidas. Nunca voy a dejar de ir a Hawaii por sus olas y la enseñanza que te deja. Quiero seguir aprendiendo y mejorando como persona primero y después como atleta. Gracias por esta nota y que viva el surf! las olas nunca van a parar.

HER es un proyecto del fotógrafo Ricardo Bellini, su objetivo es registrar la sensualidad detrás de un concepto actual y creativo de la moda. La inspiración del equipo proviene de los ensayos boudoir de la década de 1920, donde el registro de la sensualidad es relleno de osadía y erotismo, sin perder la elegancia. Apoyado en el estudio de 2013 acerca de la tendencia de la sensualidad en las redes sociales, del publicista Paulo Guerra, los ensayos son construyendo para despertar el interés del público ligado a la moda, generando nuevos negocios entre las marcas, agencias, publicidad, modelos, el cual ha sido publicado en diferentes redes sociales y otros medios de comunicación. Llegando a su cuarta edición, HER trae la bellísima modelo brasileña Diana Conte. La modelo hace parte del casting de la Closer Agency y en su portafolio están marcas famosas como: Niely Cosméticos, Proibida, Dress&co, Adriana Barra, Marisa, Pernambucanas, TNG, Liquido Store. En ese cuarto año, muchas modelos tops brasileñas y una decena de profesionales de la moda, maquilladores, videomakers, estilístas, utilizaron las redes para publicar las fotografías más sexys en Facebook e Instagram. El proyecto es un éxito, ha sido publicado en principales periódicos, revistas y sitios del Brasil. Nicole Gormley Born and raised in California, Nicole Gormley has always had a love for the ocean, mountains, and everything wild in between. After graduating from UCLA with a degree in marine biology, she pursued her love of story telling and has gone on to become a promising and adventurous young filmmaker and television producer. She has filmed and produced projects for many of the world’s leading television networks including National Geographic, Discovery Channel, CNN, and many more. In the process, she has mounted cameras on great white sharks, chased polar bears high above the Arctic Circle, and slogged the Himalayas with heavy camera gear. She’s most comfortable in the water though, as her scars on her foot from a shark bite can attest. | gromlet

DANIEL BACHMANN PERSONAL TRAINER
My name is Daniel Bachmann, I’m a personal trainer working on the North Shore of Oahu. I was born and raised out here on the North Shore and feel privileged to work with the community to improve the health of its individuals. I have been working in the field of coaching for over six years now but it was not always my first choice. My journey in fitness began in the 9th grade when I was 15 years of age. I just decided that I wanted to put some muscle on and figured I would start by hitting the weights. I bought myself a pair of 15lb dumbbells, a yoga mat, and a punching bag. I only had these three pieces of equipment and would workout at least an hour a night with no formal guidance. I essentially just figured out what worked and what did not work through trial and error and found my route to reach my physical success through my younger years. I always surfed growing up, being the nature of the surf town of the North Shore but I always had a pull towards fitness. After about a year I began to train in MMA with a few friends in my family’s garage. We were all just a bunch of surf punks that
would meet up after school and a surf session and just beat each other up. Eventually we wanted to compete in MMA so one or two of us would sign up for a match at one of the local cage fighting events and rally the troops for the weekend. Looking back on it, it was one of the craziest things I did and witnessed growing up and quite entertaining that fact that it actually happened the way it did. My third and last MMA fight took place two days after I graduated high school and my parents told me I had a choice, keep training and competing in MMA and make a career out of it or to stop fighting and go to university full time. I won my final fight and told them I would hang up the gloves to pursue an education. I always liked the healthcare system and taking care of people so I chose to head in the direction into nursing. I had great grades in high school so I got into a decent pre-nursing program and studied in this field for two years. During my education I was teaching at our Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Academy. I would teach 18
women's kickboxing classes at night. The class got so popular that we couldn't take on the demand so we had to start turning a few women away. Eventually the classes at my home gym caught on and the demand allowed me to support my education from a financial standpoint. I really enjoyed teaching so much so that I started to think I could pursue that as an education instead of nursing. So I made the switch at college and my new mind set towards physical education began. It took my 5 years to earn my bachelors of science in Sports Science with a major in Sports Management. I was a full time student also working a full gym schedule teaching personal and group classes. Once I earned my degree I put all of my focus into my business and currently established my gym with a schedule that has me teaching up to 10 classes a day. I am currently expanding my gym to three time the current size and excited to what the future holds. | dbach808
