Lviv Convention Bureau was established in 2013 as a part of Lviv City Council. The main aim of the Bureau is to promote Lviv as a new Eastern European MICE destination, cooperate with local businesses and provide customers with the best services and experience in Lviv. There are 9 people currently working in the Bureau. Our services include, but are not limited to: • Tailoring the best package for our customers • Coordinating the cooperation of local MICE industry participants • Negotiating with hotels and venues • Providing support from governmental institutions and local media • Providing other services during the conferences • Presenting Lviv on international trade markets, fairs, forums

Danylo Halytskyi International Airport "Lviv"
Danylo Halytskyi International Airport ‘‘Lviv’’ is the biggest airport in Western Ukraine according to passenger flow and destination network. It is located in the southwestern part of the city and has favorable location to the main city infrastructure objects. As of now destination network of the airport consists of 28 routes (24 international and 2 domestic). The new airport terminal was put into service on April 12, 2012 specially for the championship Euro2012. It was built at the territory of the airport with the use of the recent developments in aviation industry, in accordance with modern technologies of passenger and baggage handling, as well as with international architectural and engineering standards and requirements of ICAO (International Civil Aviation Organization) and IATA (International Air Transport Association). New terminal "A" has • total area of 39,000 sq. m • 9 departure gates, 4 of which are jet bridges • 28 check-in desks, 2 self-service check-in kiosks • 18 passport control checkpoints • 12 aviation security control checkpoints • 19 airlines • VIP-lounges for the passengers of international and domestic flights • modern Duty Free • 2 parking lots with 25 bus parking spaces and 1,100 car parking spaces. New airport terminal was built with due consideration of people with physical disabilities.
Therefore all the zones and rooms of the terminal were equipped to provide an easy mobility and handling of disabled passengers. In June 2013 in the course of forum "Airport Development Russia and CIS", Danylo Halytskyi International Airport "Lviv" was given a title "The best airport in CIS"

Geographical position Ukraine is situated in Eastern Europe. Its neighbours are: Poland, Belarus, Russia, Moldova, Romania, Hungary, Slovakia. The geographical center of Europe is in a village of Dilove (county of Rakhiv). Population — 44,573,205 people. It is the 5th largest country among European countries in terms of population. Area — 603,628 km2. It is the largest country entirely within Europe and second largest country of the continent Eurasia after Russia. First settlements lived here more than 150,000 years ago. Ukraine is a heritor of Kyivan Rus (9-12 c.) which was the largest and most powerful state in Europe. Independence of Ukraine — 24th August 1991
Geographical position Lviv is situated in the western part of Ukraine just 70 km from the Polish border and 160 km from the eastern Carpathian Mountains. The first record of Lviv as a city was made in chronicles in 1256. Founder of Lviv — King Danylo of Galicia. He named the city in honour of his son Lev. Population — 729,842 people Area — 182.01 km2 Cultural capital of Ukraine The historic city centre is on the UNESCO World Heritage List. The city has unique architecture preserved through centuries, developed infrastructure and huge potential to develop MICE industry.
Lviv’s climate is humid continental with soft winters, wet springs, mild summers, warm and dry autumns. The average temperatures are -3.4°C in winter, +17.5 °C in summer and in mountain region +11 °C.

Useful Travel Tips Visa Citizens of the European Union, United States, Canada, Japan, South Korea, Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Andorra, Vatican City, Monaco, Iceland, Norway, San Marino, Mongolia, Serbia, Montenegro, Georgia, Hong Kong, Israel, Paraguay and the countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States (except Turkmenistan) do NOT need visas for entering Ukraine. Religion Most of Lviv residents are Christians: Ukrainian Orthodox — Kyiv and Moscow Patriarchate, Ukrainian Autocephalous Orthodox, Ukrainian Catholic (Uniate), Protestant, there are also many Jewish and Muslim citizens. Lviv is known by its loyalty to different religions. 8
Language Official language is Ukrainian. Alphabet Cyril. Almost everybody in Lviv speaks Russian and Polish and most of the young people can speak English or German. Money National currency is hryvnia (UAH), 1 hryvnia = 100 kopiyka. You can exchange currency for hryvnia in banks and numerous exchange offices, some of them work 24/7. If you would like to pay with a credit card, ask before you make the payment. Punctuality People in Lviv, in general, are not very punctual. It’s acceptable to be late for 10 minutes if it’s unofficial meeting, and for 5 minutes if it’s official. Water Don’t drink tap water .
People Are very hospitable and friendly. Don’t be surprised, when you ask someone the way and a stranger will not just explain it to you but also walk with you to the place you need. Greetings At official meetings people in Ukraine shake hands. For women it’s not necessary, but possible. Cheek kissing is acceptable if you are in a friendly relationships. Traveler’s checks Traveler’s checks can be cashed in banks. Tips You are expected to tip on the average of about 5–10 percent in Lviv’s establishments. Mostly tips are not included in the bill.

Price and value We promise you will be surprised that for pretty moderate money you can have such a great value! All services you’ll use will be of European level but by Ukrainian prices (much lower than in any other European country). You can have lunch in a good restaurant just for 5 euro. Lviv is one of the least expensive major cities in the world. Infrastructure The newly constructed Danylo Halytskyi International Airport, which is only 7 km from the city center, makes air travel a breeze. There are daily flights from Warsaw, Vienna, Kyiv and Moscow. There are more than 70 hotels, 38 of which boast 3-5 stars. Total guest room capacity in 4 & 5 star hotels – 700 rooms. There is a wide range of conference halls for different capacity, with the biggest one for 1 000 people. Lviv boasts really unique venues for your MICE event, including lots of historical buildings.

Scientific heritage and history Lviv region is third in number of scientific organizations, candidates and doctors in Ukraine. Lviv is an ancient scientific center in Europe. Kerosene was invented here, first effective vaccine in the world for epidemic of typhus discovered. American journal “R & D Magazine” put the inventions of Lviv’s scientists together with inventions of NASA to the rating “Top 100 best developments in the world”.Around 40 research and development institutes and scientific-research design institutes are situated in Lviv.

Young and educated city Each 5th citizen of Lviv is a student. There is one of the oldest in Central Europe and first in Ukraine University — Ivan Franko National University of Lviv (1661); Education institutions of Lviv are in the top ratings of the most recognized education institutions in Ukraine. There are 33 institutions of higher education that makes reputation of Lviv as a city with high level of education.

Lviv Opera and Ballet Theater
Lviv Opera House hosts international opera festivals and contests dedicated to Solomiya Krushelnytska – the great Ukrainian opera singer, the patroness of the theatre, diva of European theaters end of 19th c. – beginning of 20th c. The events are planned for 2014-2015. Before these and other (tours of Ukrainian and foreign theaters, or individual performers) wide-scale events a pressconference is held in the mirror hall, and after a performance – reception for several dozens of people, as it was done at the Presidential summit for Central European countries in 1998. There are also exhibitions held in the theater’s mirror hall. One of the most representative exhibitions was held in 2010 – ‘stage costumes of the world opera stars’ from the collection of La Scala theater in Milan. Our theater – the only in Ukraine – is a member of the international association «Opera Europa».
