The Lyceum is one of Scotland’s leading producing theatre companies. We are committed to building bespoke corporate partnerships that deliver clear business objectives and ROI. By partnering with us, we can help you raise brand awareness, customer loyalty, create new business and customer opportunities, and positive PR opportunities. David Greig’s appointment as Artistic Director was a significant milestone for the company and has created the prospect of many high profile partnerships.
“I think The Lyceum is my favourite theatre, both as an audience member and a performer. It’s a perfect late Victorian house, it has a great acoustic, intimate atmosphere and is really beautiful. The warmth of that auditorium extends backstage too and whenever I’ve worked there I’ve felt really supported and welcomed.”

“The Lyceum has always been part of the British theatre scene as well as of the Scottish one. Its first production in 1883, starred those icons of the British stage Ellen Terry and Henry Irving, still commemorated in the names of The Lyceum’s two elegant function rooms. And on occasions – particularly during the Edinburgh International Festival – it also becomes a key international stage.”
“I’m honoured and privileged to be Artistic Director of a theatre that has meant so much to me personally and which sits at the heart of both Edinburgh’s cultural life and Scottish Theatre at large. I’m keen that more people experience the joy of live performance in this beautiful building but also that we create more connections with the city beyond our home in Grindlay Street. That means making new partnerships, more touring opportunities, pop up performances and an international strand to our work.” David Greig, Artistic Director
“Already a major figure in British drama, David’s plays have been performed and acclaimed at theatres around the world. As an inspirational and widely respected figure David has been a committed champion of the nation’s creativity. His Artistic Directorship promises an exciting new direction for The Lyceum and its audiences, including new partnerships and collaborations.” Shonaig Macpherson CBE, FRSE, DUniv – Chair of the Royal Lyceum Theatre Company

DEMONSTRATE YOUR COMMITMENT TO SCOTLAND’S CULTURAL FUTURE AND OUR SHARED COMMUNITY
Our mission is to advance public education by the encouragement of the performing arts. We are committed to producing world-class drama, inspiring creativity, developing talent and reaching out to our local communities through our innovative year-round Creative Learning programme. Upholding our consistent reputation for creating live theatre of artistic excellence, we stage on average 11 productions annually. We are proud to create theatre that is Made in Edinburgh – human stories presented in striking visual stage productions that are socially and politically resonant with the local population and beyond. Our strength lies in re-imagining classics in new and bold productions as well as staging world premieres of contemporary Lyceum commissions. Our Creative Learning Department has been working with hard to reach groups in Edinburgh since 1993. We are committed to supporting creativity in young people, particularly those from areas of Edinburgh classed as socially and economically deprived. Around 18,000 young people participate in the life of The Lyceum, by attending performances and learning events with their schools; and by taking part in Lyceum Youth Theatre workshops, holiday courses and productions. Through our Creative Learning activity, we aim to engage, inspire and develop people of all ages, giving priority to those who may experience social or financial barriers to accessing the arts. By supporting the arts you are nurturing creativity throughout the city, providing a platform for engagement across backgrounds and cultures. By improving the cityscape for all who reside and work here, we create a vibrant community for future investment.
“Baillie Gifford recognises that when we partner with local arts, we are partnering with our whole city. We chose to support The Lyceum and in particular their Creative Learning programme, because creativity is an integral part of any vibrant community. By supporting critical thinking in children from all backgrounds across the city, we are helping to foster the talent and skills necessary to develop young people for the future.” Samantha Pattman, Events Manager, Baillie Gifford
WHAT YOUR SUPPORT MEANS TO US HOW WE ARE FUNDED: As a registered charity we aim to cover our costs each year, and rely heavily on the generosity received from our corporate sponsors, in addition to trust and foundation grants and the commitment of individual supporters. With recent changes to public funding, the need for private support is all the more vital to fund our work both on and off stage. We currently receive approximately 33% of income through public grants and we must raise the remaining 67% through a mix of heavily subsidised ticket sales, venue hire, sponsorship and donations. We are committed to keeping ticket prices low to ensure that we remain a theatre that is accessible to all, and therefore ticket sales alone are not sufficient for covering the costs of being one of Scotland’s largest producing theatre companies. We are grateful to all our supporters for the role they play in helping to fund every area of our work – from the inception of a play, providing us with essential funds to create and bring these productions to our stage, and ensuring we are able to bring the joy of live theatre to as wide an audience as possible. Royal Lyceum Theatre Company is a Scottish Charity No. SC010509
