This is a small remnant of a pristine dry coastal forest that is rich in biodiversity and is owned by Tongaat Hulett. The walks are managed by WESSA. Hawaan Forest walks are monthly on the first Saturday of the month or by prior arrangement. For this you need my contact details: Jocelyn Sutherland 083 275 2216 or 031-572 4116 The KwaZulu-Natal Sharks Board Established in 1964 to provide shark attack prevention measures for beach users they launch their boats at dawn and highly trained and experienced teams ensure all is in order before the arrival of beach users.

You can stay safe by following these simple do’s and don’ts: • Do always swim at beaches offering the protection of shark safety gear.

• Do obey instructions from the lifeguards.

• Do remember that alcohol and swimming don’t mix.

• Don’t swim at dawn and dusk when sharks are more active and come inshore to feed.

• Don’t swim in dirty water or in a river mouth.

• Don’t swim with an open wound as sharks can detect blood in the water.

• Don’t ever swim alone.

For the more adventurous – take an early morning boat trip to see the shark nets being cleared off Durban’s Golden Mile.

Crocodile Creek Located on the Tongaat River in sub-tropical bush and is home to over 7000 Nile crocodiles, alligators, caiman, snakes and other reptiles. The farm includes bush and hill trails, a waterfall, river plains, thatched buildings with tree top walkways, curios, croc leather, crocodile dishes and other refreshments.
