Well, that might be an exaggeration, but he was the star attraction on the morning 042 bus on Wednesday and Thursday last week. Auckland Transport and NZ Bus (the operators of the service) have been working for weeks to get the 042 morning service to the same reliability level as the afternoon 042 bus run, namely 100%. It seems they have achieved their aim and the only thing that put the bus behind schedule were the sheer numbers using the service, no doubt attracted by Maxx being on the journey. If you have any questions about the bus service please do not hesitate to contact me. Helping children achieve a positive attitude towards using the bus helps with the development of citizenship and it also helps to keep cars off the road! My email: principal@campbellsbay.school.nz

1949 - 2014 Campbells Bay School was clearly a different place in 1949 compared to our school today. While some things have stayed the same, there have been many changes, even since the 2014 photo was taken. The most recent photo does not show the third classroom on the bank or the demolished classrooms (Rms 15, 16 and 17). An aerial photograph in another 12 months should tell a rather different story to the photo earlier this year. Watch this space!
Calendars, Cards and Diaries
Please check your child's bag for your calendar orders as they will be distributed to classes this week. We will be offering another chance to order these items if you missed out last time. Please make sure you read the newsletter to find out when orders reopen.
Carnival 2015
Following extensive discussion, it was decided there will be no CBS Carnival early next year as there is nobody available to lead the organisation of this event. If at any time someone would like to take this on, please come along to a meeting and we can revisit this for the end of the 2015 school year.
Join us!
If you have ever contemplated coming along to join the group but faltered, please do decide to try it next year. This a small friendly group of mums and dads who meet with senior management for an hour, once a month for a wine or coffee, and plan social and fund raising events for the school. There are currently only a handful of people actively involved. For a school the size of ours, more support would be gratefully welcomed. The next meeting will be around planning activities for 2015 so please bring your ideas and join us on Thursday 13 November at 7.30pm in the staffroom.
EZLUNCH Ezlunch is making a small change In response to feedback, hot and cold lunch items will now arrive at school in separate bags. As from Monday 3 November please ask your children to look out for TWO lunch bags if they’re got both hot and cold items in their lunch order. Don’t leave half your lunch behind! Thanks. Should you have any queries, please let me know. Sharon Slater | Helpdesk 0800 EZLUNCH | Tel. 09-475 5287 “Not Self, but Service”
Kapahaka Costumes
Cool Hat Day Many thanks to all the children for taking part in our cool hat day last Friday. It was great to see that children had made a big event to take part and recognize the charity—Canteen. The money collected in donations on the day and will be passed onto Canteen.
Ngā mihi mahana ki a koutou katoa! Warm greetings to you all! Thank you, thank you, thank you to the 20 helpers that volunteered their time to make the costumes. We are 75% complete on most of the girls’ costumes, and Helen Patterson has volunteered to sew the boys’ costumes at home. What a huge job that was made easier by the giving from the parents (and a bit of tea and cake). There were even helpers that did not have children in kapahaka and were willing to assist us. He tino pai te mahi a Annette Roper! The work of Annette Roper was amazing. Annette took on the task of designing the costumes. She made up the patterns, sourced the materials, developed the sewing instructions, and is an awesome sewer. This project would never have got started without her vision and ability to fit these tasks around her already hectic life as a graphic designer and parent.
CBS Teachers take to the Mud!
Marvelous team, but
Utterly disgusting conditions! Dirty, dirty, dirty, but Delightful all the same!s
A huge thank you to Emma Rawstron and Fred Nu’u, (the kapahaka teachers), for guiding this project and taking on the mammoth task of organising and training over 100 students.
Really challenging obstacles to overcome,
Under a beautiful blue Sky Hooray for Team CBS: Nathan Janes, Claire Dobson, Rob Padgett, Hannah Leadbetter, Julie Bose and Lincoln, Rawstron, Rebecca Boggs and Caitlin Richardson.
Additional Help Required There may be some hand-sewing required to complete the costumes and I will ask for helpers next week in the newsletter if that is necessary. WATCH THIS SPACE NEXT WEEK! Emma

After the gymnastics photos on Friday afternoon some children went home with the wrong school uniform. We are missing the following items: top - Ruby Meder, long sleeved shirt - Jackson Smythe, sports top and skirt - Nikita Penniall. These items are all named so please check to see if your child went home in the wrong uniform. We are reviewing how we do this in the future as it isn't an acceptable outcome so apologies to those children and their parents.
