2014 Term 3 21 July—26 September Term 4 13 October—17 December

Our office staff do their very best to look after your children when they require medical attention. However it is important to point out they are first aid trained only. They are not nurses. To assist staff when helping your child when they are sick please ensure that your child's current conditions have been notified to the office staff. If you have any information our office staff should be aware of, please either email or send a written note: admin@campbellsbay.school.nz On another medical matter, please do not send your child to school if they are at all unwell. (They seldom get better at school!) Not only do they risk passing bugs to others at school, we have very limited facilities to deal with children who are sick and should be at home. Thank you for your support.

The children in Year 0/1 had a wonderful time at Kenny the Kiwi’s picnic last Wednesday. Each class had spent the morning preparing food to share and games to play with their friends. The picnic was part of the Inquiry focus Belonging and the children have spent time exploring where they belong and what it feels like to belong. All the children took part in creating this picnic so that Kenny the Kiwi felt like he belonged. They did an awesome job and fun was had by all.

Brotherton,

Frozen! Well done Campbells Bay, you really pulled together and did a phenomenal fundraising job for Daffodil Day. With only three days notice, or even two days notice in some cases, we raised, as a school, just over $1,500 - WOW! The class that raised the most money per student is Room 20 (Mrs Richardson). They raised a total of $159.80. In second place is Room 32 (Mrs Meder) with $117.10, in third place is Room 8 (Mrs Leadbetter) with $104.80 and in fourth is Room 27 (Mr Richardson) with $88.20. A sterling effort for a very important cause. In consultation with the ice-challenge volunteers, it was decided to let Room 20, Room 32 and Room 8 nominate a teacher to take the icechallenge this week. Ka pai CBS from a proud and potentially frozen Mrs Richardson.

Reading Counts Congratulations to Andy Song in Rm 31 for reading his way up to 500 reading counts. Well done Andy.

A CBS parent is involved with a community project at Peninsula Primary School in Te Atatu. The school is starting a group project teaching their students how to knit and would be very grateful for any donations of old or spare knitting supplies i.e. knitting needles and/or wool. The children will knit peggy squares to make blankets to donate to a group of their choice either here in Aotearoa or overseas. If you, grandparents, or extended family have any spare wool or needles to donate, please take them to the school office and drop them into the donation boxx. Thanks for your support in advance.

APPA Concert Ticket sales close on 12 September. Order forms can be collected from the school office.

What do you think of ERO’s parent booklets? The Education Review Office (ERO) publishes a series of five booklets for parents and caregivers. We want to find out how useful the information is to parents, how the booklets can be improved, and if parents would prefer to receive the information in a different way. We’re starting with a survey of How is my child doing? To take part in the survey go to www.ero.govt.nz – Featured Publications. The survey runs until the end of September and only takes a few minutes to complete. Meanwhile if you would email info@ero.govt.nz
