L’artista spagnolo Frank J. Pardo crea le sue opere rispondendo ad una forte motivazione interiore e sperimentando discipline differenti attraverso tecniche e materiali anche molto diversi tra loro. Frank è un’artista autodidatta che cerca di proporre con la sua arte una manifestazione dell’attività estetica e artistica innata negli esseri umani. Nelle sue opere riesce a combinare con armonia la geometria con l’astrazione, ma anche con la figurazione, utilizzando anche forme organiche oltre a quelle geometriche appunto. Questo perché scopo della sua arte è quello di esplorare territori fino ad ora sconosciuti, dominati dal silenzio. L’ultima sua fase creativa, ben rappresentata nella sua creazione esposta alla MAD gallery, in cui Frank ha dato vita ad un video dove ci presenta le sue opere che fanno parte del “Proyecto formas del hierro”, sono ben visibili influenze da altre discipline come soprattutto scienza, psicologia e filosofia. Per Frank è fondamentale trovare sempre un nuovo sistema di pensiero, un nuovo modo per intrepretare la realtà che ci circonda, arrivando così ad ottenere sempre nuovi concetti e tipologie di arte. Infatti, Frank ama mescolare e unire materiali molto diversi, a volte nettamente antitetici, ma creando comunque un’armonia innata. I simboli scelti e rappresentati nelle sue opere sono rappresentativi di una filosofia costruzionista ed esistenzialista. La pratica costruzionista è ben visibile nella preoccupazione costante per linee, volumi, spazio, sempre e comunque circondati da un’atmosfera energica.
The Spanish artist Frank J. Pardo creates his works by responding to a strong inner motivation and experimenting different disciplines through techniques and materials that are very different from each other. Frank is a self-taught artist who tries to propose, with his art, a manifestation of aesthetic and artistic activity innate in human beings. In his works, he manages to combine geometry with abstraction in harmony, but also with figuration, also using organic shapes as well as geometric ones. This is because the purpose of his art is to explore territories unknown, dominated by silence. His latest creative phase, well represented in his creation exposed to the MAD gallery, in which Frank has given life to a video where he presents his works that are part of the "Proyecto formas del hierro", are influences from other disciplines like above all science, psychology and philosophy. For Frank it is fundamental to always find a new system of thought, a new way to interpret the reality that surrounds us, thus arriving to always get new concepts and types of art. In fact, Frank loves to mix and combine very different materials, sometimes clearly antithetical, but still creating an innate harmony. The symbols chosen and represented in his works are representative of a constructionist and existentialist philosophy. The constructionist practice is clearly visible in the constant preoccupation with lines, volumes, space, always and in any case surrounded by an energetic atmosphere.
Sistema libre en ingravidez
Simbolo molto amato e rappresentato in molte sue opere, che possiamo vedere nel video, è la catena, che ha in sé duplici e antitetici significati. La catena può essere sia simbolo di schiavitù, se chiusa, sia di libertà, se spezzata o aperta. La catena può essere simbolo della liberazione da una situazione straziante, ma anche il rendersi conto di sentirsi incatenati inevitabilmente a qualcuno o qualcosa. La catena è anche, in senso positivo, simbolo di forza, unione, legame che può resistere alle prove del tempo. Frank ha analizzato questo simbolo sotto tutti questi aspetti, inserendo nelle sue opere anche aspetti che riguardano la scienza. Come per esempio nell’opera “Sistema libre en ingravidez” vediamo la catena che sembra librarsi nell’aria, al centro della composizione in cui domina il color rosso fuoco e sembra infatti inserita in una specie di fornace. Nell’atto di creazione della catena, durante la fusione del metallo, è per l’unica volta libera da pesi a lei ancorati, fisici o emotivi. Invece in molte opere intitolate, “Punto de inflexion” sono ben visibili le forze che tirano la catena dalle sue estremità. Queste sono così aggressive che la catena si sta spezzando, un suo anello si sta aprendo e da questa apertura fuoriesce una forza nuova che si espande tutto intorno e turba l’atmosfera.
Symbol much loved and represented in many of his works, which we can see in the video, is the chain, which has in itself twofold and antithetical meanings. The chain can be either a symbol of slavery, if closed, or freedom, if broken or open. The chain can be a symbol of liberation from a harrowing situation, but also the realization of being inevitably chained to someone or something. The chain is also, in a positive sense, a symbol of strength, union, bond that can withstand the trials of time. Frank has analyzed this symbol under all these aspects, including aspects related to science in his works. As for example in the work "Sistema libre en ingravidez" we see the chain that seems to float in the air, at the center of the composition in which it dominates the fiery red color and seems in fact inserted in a kind of furnace. In the act of creating the chain, during the fusion of the metal, it is for the first time free from weights anchored to it, physical or emotional. On the other hand, in many works called "Punto de inflexion" the forces that pull the chain from its extremities are clearly visible. These are so aggressive that the chain is breaking, a ring is opening and from this opening comes a new force that expands all around and disturbs the atmosphere.
Il tema della catena è esplorato da Frank anche in alcune sculture, come per esempio “Equilibrio Imposible”, in cui Frank crea una scultura quasi metafisica, una catena che, sfidando le leggi dell’equilibrio, si regge in piedi da sola, anzi sembra voler proprio allungarsi verso l’alto. Una catena che lega più due estremità apposte, ma che cerca di spingere sé stessa dalla terra, a cui è ancorata tramite il legno, al cielo e oltre. The theme of the chain is also explored by Frank in some sculptures, such as "Equilibrio Imposible", in which Frank creates an almost metaphysical sculpture, a chain that, defying the laws of equilibrium, stands alone, indeed it seems just wanting to stretch upwards. A chain that binds more than two ends affixed, but that tries to push itself from the earth, to which it is anchored through the wood, to the sky and beyond.
Equilibrio imposible
Emblematica di tutta questa filosofia di Frank è l’opera “Liberarte”, il cui titolo nasce appunto dall’unione delle due parole che per l’artista sono le più fondamentali: libertà e arte. La libertà di fare arte, ma anche fare arte per la libertà. Con la sua arte Frank si sente libero di esprimere pienamente sé stesso, mostrandoci così anche un modo diverso di vedere ciò che ci circonda. Infatti, in quest’opera rappresenta una catena che sembra come ammucchiata a terra, quindi abbandonata, che non serve più a legare qualcuno o qualcosa. È il simbolo di un vincolo spezzato: attraverso l’arte possiamo spezzare quei vincoli che ci frenano ed esprimere pienamente noi stessi. Emblematic of all this philosophy of Frank is the work "Liberarte", whose title is born precisely from the union of the two words that for the artist are the most fundamental: freedom (libertà) and art (arte). The freedom to make art, but also to make art for freedom. With his art Frank feels free to fully express himself, showing us also a different way of seeing what surrounds us. In fact, in this work represents a chain that seems to be piled on the ground, then abandoned, which no longer serves to tie someone or something. It is the symbol of a broken bond: through art we can break those constraints that restrain us and fully express ourselves.

Universo III
Universo I
All’immagine della catena, Frank nel video alterna una sua personale visione dell’Universo, nella serie di dipinti intitolati appunto “Universo”, divisa in diverse fasi con diverse inclinazioni di significato. Per esempio, nel dipinto intitolato “Universo I” possiamo vedere un intersecarsi di strutture che sembrano metalliche, ricurve a forma di ferro di cavallo, quindi che non si chiudono. La costruzione sembra fluttuare nel vuoto, sospesa nello spazio e nel tempo, proprio come l’universo. Con lo scorrere del video questa visione cambia e infatti nelle ultime versioni dello stesso soggetto, come nel dipinto intitolato “Universo III”, la composizione assume un’aura molto più metafisica. Lo sfondo scompare in una tinta neutra, per far risaltare maggiormente il soggetto al centro. La struttura è qui formata da tre anelli completamente chiusi e perfettamente rotondi, orientati nelle tre dimensioni dello spazio. Il cerchio è il simbolo della perfezione: siamo quindi passati, in questa sorta di processo evolutivo, dal caos all’ordine, per arrivare infine alla perfezione. Cosa è più perfetto dell’Universo?! Una enorme macchina le cui parti lavorano all’unisono creando un’armonia perfetta.
In the image of the chain, Frank, in the video, alternates his personal vision of the Universe, in the series of paintings entitled "Universe", divided into different phases with different inclinations of meaning. For example, in the painting entitled "Universe I" we can see an intersection of structures that look like metal, curved in the shape of a horseshoe, so that they do not close. The building seems to float in space, suspended in space and time, just like the universe. With the flow of the video this vision changes and in fact in the latest versions of the same subject, as in the painting entitled "Universe III", the composition takes on a much more metaphysical aura. The background disappears in a neutral hue, to bring out the subject in the center more. The structure is here formed by three completely closed and perfectly round rings, oriented in the three dimensions of the space. The circle is the symbol of perfection: we are then passed, in this sort of evolutionary process, from chaos to order, to finally arrive at perfection. What is more perfect than the universe?! A huge machine whose parts work in unison creating a perfect harmony.
