May

From the General Manager, Mark Reid The Lakewood Property Owners Association recently held our Annual Meeting on April 21 beginning at 7:00 p.m. The Board President addressed the state of the Association as well as major projects the Association has either completed or are in progress over the past year. The Treasurer addressed the financial condition of the Association. This information is presented at the important Annual Meeting as full transparency for our stakeholders. As few actually attend the Annual Meeting, we have placed this information in the form of our Annual Report on our website, LPOA.COM, for all members to view at their leisure. As the Lakewood Property Owners Association controls the Lakewood Holding Company (LOCC) the state of the Country Club as well as the financials were presented during the meeting. The only item of Business for the Annual Meeting was the Election of New Directors. This year, there was only one race and that was for the West Lake Director seat. I sincerely thank both Jonathan Snow and Tony DeMarco, both of whom are wonderful people and ran a low key, high class campaign for election to be on the Board. In this race, Mr. Snow was successful in obtaining the most votes. Therefore, we welcome Jonathan Snow as the new West Lake Director. Subsequently, Joseph Pec, who ran unopposed will join the Board as the Multi Family Director and Tom Maloney, who also ran unopposed, will join the Board as the East Lake Director. We look forward to these new members continuing the mission of the Board and the continued care and improvement of the Lakewood Community. This point in the year also brings the sad moment of having three prior Board Members leave the Board. We all appreciated the wonderful service, talent and perspective that Christy Nyquist, Toni Eckman and Susan Arbo brought to the Board during the past three years. On behalf of all the Staff at the LPOA and Lakewood Oaks Country Club, we wish all of our community moms a wonderful Mother’s Day. Enjoy.

From the Boardroom

Kathleen Heydon, Board President

On April 5, 2022 Lakewood honored 65 volunteers and their guests, serving on 11 Standing committees. Chef Molly and her staff prepared an outstanding dinner complete with beautiful tables and attentive servers. But the best part for me was to see the hugs, handshakes, and hear the chatter and laughter....it was amazing to all be together again. All Committees of the Association, whether they are of a business or social nature are considered a vital resource to LPOA. The purpose of these committees is to give an opportunity for residents to participate in the overall betterment of Lakewood, to provide an avenue of communication between residents, the General Manager, and the Board of Directors, to accept specific tasks and responsibilities assigned to them by the Board and to prepare recommendations for improvement. There are four kinds of committees which include Administrative, Standing Advisory, Parcel, and Ad Hoc Advisory. Administrative includes ARB/ARC, Appeals, Executive, and Election Committee. These committees follow our Covenants, Conditions Restrictions, and By-Laws. They are ongoing and permanent. Standing Advisory Committees were established for a specific service and purpose. They include the following: Insurance, Finance, Facilities Development (FDC), Activities, Lake Use, Construction Materials Standards, and Food and Beverage. The Parcel Committees which include Multi-family and Maintenance provided parcels are responsible for the maintenance and improvements of their Parcel. Ad Hoc Advisory is appointed by the board for a specific project or task of a non-recurring nature. To get a more in-depth understanding of each committee please go to www. lpoa.com/Documents/Governing Documents/Policies/Policy #3. It’s a 7-page document that

gives you a more in-depth description and duties of each committee. If you have any interest in a committee, please go to the LPOA office, request a Committee Interest form, fill it out and Nichole will make sure it is shared with the Committee chair. The committees choose their members. Our committees fulfill essential roles within our community and help the board accomplish the association’s goals effectively and efficiently. Your Board of Directors would like to say to those who dedicated selflessly their time and talents, thank you for making Lakewood a better place. Wow, summer is almost here, on May 28 the pools will open, weather permitting and it’s also National Hamburger Day! Enjoy your summer and all your community has to offer. On behalf of the Lakewood Mom’s Club Board we would like to wish a happy mothers day to all of the moms in our community. Our community has over 2,400 homes and when you live in a neighborhood that size, what better way to meet other moms and families than through a Mom’s club?!

Every mom knows there’s a need for support; whether you work outside the home, from home, or your bosses can barely see over the countertops, we need help and camaraderie. And not only for ourselves, but for our kids. Originally established in March 2011, Lakewood Mom’s Club has grown to over 200 families! This network is a great way to meet other moms, other kids, and other families. To get involved, contact lakewoodmoms64064@gmail.com.
