Dear Bookseller
Welcome to issue 6 of the Macnews, our newsletter just for booksellers.
May and June will be very busy because it is procurement time in most provinces, focusing on Gr 1-12 CAPS top-ups and supplementary material for Gr R-12.
Reading is still a serious concern in South Africa. The latest PIRL results released last week show that Grade 4 learners in South Africa have the worst reading ability in the world. Giving learners access to readers is now more important than ever before. In the next few issues of this newsletter, we will focus on all our reading series as well as other readers.
The booksellers in Gauteng, the Western Cape and KwaZulu-Natal will have the opportunity to view our books and enjoy a cup of tea with members of the Macmillan team at Bookseller Open Days scheduled for the first week of the June/July school holiday. Booksellers in these provinces will receive their invitations soon. We will continue to support booksellers in other provinces with visits and Let’s Talk information sessions.
Macmillan Education proudly announces that the Education Department has approved our TVET First Farming Management N5 books as well as the Building and Structural Surveying N5 book. You can go to page 8 of this newsletter for more information on these books and the link to the new NATED catalogue.
July means price updates! The 2023–2024 pricelist will be made available to all booksellers soon. The pricelist will only be available in a digital format.
World Environment Day is celebrated annually on 5 June, encouraging awareness and action for protecting the environment. Read the steps Macmillan Education has put in place to help protect our environment in this newsletter.
Make yourself a cup of coffee, sit back and enjoy our newsletter.
Regards, The Macmillan Team
