BACK IN THE BLACK BOX

The Middle School performance class presented the Game of Tiaras and the Upper School performance classes presented The Adventures of Mousedeer to Lower School classes this semester in the Black Box theater. This school year, Maclay Fine Arts was excited to welcome two new additions to the staff, Anne Kinnebrew in the Upper School and Elise Smith in PreK and Lower School theater.

Soto Exhibit

Sarah Caulley Soto’s photography exhibit opened this fall at the Inspiration Gallery in the Beck Family Innovation Center. The interactive exhibit featured Sarah Calley’s beautiful wildlife photography and QR codes which directed visitors to animated versions of each piece.

Winter Arts Festival

Logan Albritton’s The Most Dope Oil and Aerosol Paint took 1st place in the WinterFest Arts Festival. Logan created the piece for her AP portfolio.

It was an amazing night for Music on the Plaza, where our talented musicians performed under the stars at the Beck Family Innovation Center. The Maclay Concert Band, Americana, String Orchestra, Music Club, Voice Ensemble, Glee, and Percussion Club and even the Faculty Band played and entertained the audience.

Upper School theater students once again received rave reviews at the District Thespian Festival in Ft. Walton. The Troupe received two superiors and one excellent for their performances and qualified for the State Festival, which will be held in March.

The Maclay 2-D Studio Art and AP students learned how to bring their vision to life by collaborating, creating, and installing a mural at Hopkins on Market Street. The TLH artistic creation was a project with Knight Creative Communities Initiative which partnered with a local muralist Cosby Hayes and our Maclay art teacher Sarah Painter and her students.
