Volleyball

This year the varsity volleyball team finished 10-9. Breanna Tanton and Amelia Haggins (both named All-Big Bend 2nd team) were the season’s top finishers for the Marauders. The highlight of the season was beating 6A Lincoln in three games on Senior Night. Next year promises to be even more rewarding with hard work and discipline.

Football

The Marauder football team finished with a record 4-5, including big wins over Brookwood and FAMU (the first win at Bragg Stadium). The team was led by two senior captains Jim Murrah (All-Big Bend 2nd team defense), and Ethan Hovsapian who provided leadership and positivity that played a huge part in the growth of the program. The senior class won an impressive 27 games over their career.

Swimming

The Maclay Swimming and Diving team had a remarkable season making their best finish at states championship in 20 years. The 1A region is by far the strongest in Florida, pitting the Marauders up against the top schools. The boys relays were on point this season and set multiple school records. Stuart Higdon, All-Big Bend Swimmer-of-the-Year, won his 500 free to become the first Maclay state champion in 36 years.

Cross Country

The boys and girls cross country had another outstanding season, finishing once again at a state championship. The boys team was led by Clayton Knox (All-Big Bend 2nd team) who helped the Marauders to a 14th place finish and Gracie Koeppel (All-Big Bend 1st team) placed 8th overall to lead the Marauders to a 4th place overall. Lillian Koeppel was also named All Big Bend 1st team and Angie Milford was named Coach-of-the-Year. Both the teams won the district championship, and Gracie took the individual district title.

Golf

Both the boys and girls had a great season with big wins over area schools. Both teams placed 2nd at Districts and qualified for Regionals in Jacksonville. The girls team was led this season by Ellie Riner (All-Big Bend 1st Team) who shot a 78 in the Big Bend Championship and an 83 at the District Championship. The boys scoring leaders were Lee Poppell and Wyatt Frazee, and both were named to the All-Big Bend 1st team.

Evan Brown Selected as SAAC Rep

Junior, Evan Brown was selected to the FHSAA Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC). The committee serves as a critical link in identifying topics, issues, and concerns that face the student-athletes in Florida. Sixteen representatives were selected to represent schools in all classifications across the state.
