Congratulations to JUAN LUIS GARCIA for designing the winning poster for the 20th Annual SDLFF! About the designer: Juan Luis Garcia is a creative from Southern California specializing in photography and graphic design. He works with clients in cultural, non-profit, and commercial fields. His debut photo exhibition and self-published book, “Cuba Y Cubans”, garnered international acclaim and was awarded Blurb’s Book of the Month. He is currently working on his second book titled “Face value: Mirror Portraits” where he is photographing 500 people looking at themselves through a two-way mirror. He lives in Los Angeles with his wife and neighbors and is available for freelance work. www.juanluisgarcia.com This year’s Poster Selection Committee 2013 include: Nuvia Guerra, Artist; Franko Rosas, Graphic Designer; Isaias Crow, Artist; Alessandra Moctezuma, Gallery Director – San Diego Mesa College; Ana Brown, The Roots Factory; Bob Green, The Roots Factory; and Perry Vasquez, Artist/Professor – Southwestern College.
Latino Cinema has become a force to be reckoned with, introducing audiences from around the world to a new generation of dynamic and universal stories. Our list of the 10 most influential and groundbreaking Latino films of the past two decades are films that blur the line between reality and fantasy, explore ideas of love and friendship, and delve into pertinent social and political topics such as poverty, memory and state violence. These films, from regions as diverse as Mexico, Chile, Spain and Brazil, managed to crossover from the arthouse to the mainstream. The 20th anniversary showcase is funded by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences.

April 1st-5th 1st - 3rd grade: Everyone works together to create an original movie! Create the scenery, props, and costumes while you act out your favorite fairy tale or fable. Whether you’re the director, camera man, or actor, there is something for everyone to learn and collaborate on during this fun, week-long camp. • Learn the basic functions of a camera • Put your creative skills to the test to create an original movie • Every week-long camp ends with a screening and exhibition for family and friends! 9:00am-12:00pm (AM CAMP) 1:00pm-4:00pm (PM CAMP) $140/per camper 4th - 8th grade: Discover the possibilities of filmmaking and beyond! Explore character, composition, and sound as you create a series of hands-on video projects. This camp provides many possibilities of creative media making. • Work with live-action video, stop-motion animation, interactive media and design, sound recording, digital photography, and more. • Use software such as iStopMotion, GarageBand, and iMovie,. • Every week-long camp ends with a screening and exhibition for family and friends! 8:30am- 3:30pm $195/camper
April 8th-12th & 15th-19th 3rd - 5th grade: Filmmaking, Acting, and Stop-Motion, Oh my! Spend the week producing a collaborative film project.
