THANK YOU! Dear Supporter, What a year it has been. Filled with loss and many challenges, but SO many successes & new beginnings as well. MEDIA ARTS has been honored to touch the lives of so many 1000s of people this year via our film screenings, education programs, and production services. We could have not done it without all of you in the community. MIL GRACIAS to all those of you who supported our programming in 2012! NOW SHOWING Reaching over 20,000 people this past year, MACSD’s long-running Latino Film programs continued to wow audiences, both old and young. Here’s a sample of some of last year’s highlights...

EDUCATION This past year, MACSD’s education and learning programs worked with youth and adults of all ages. In addition to the many outreach programs across San Diego County, the organization continued to build its’ new community technology center - The Digital Gym. Here’s some of the highlights from last year. Teen Producers Project 71 Local Participating Students from Crawford High School, MAAC High School, San Marcos High and from throughout San DIego. 1 Summer Youth Media Booth Camp help w/ 33 youth from throughout Southern California 14 youth media videos produced. 5 Community Screenings of Student Works 23 Mobile Stories Workshops held at Logan Heights Library, Central Public Library & other schools/libraries across the City of San Diego. Youth Media Camps A new track added to Summer Camps. Now two groups of campers creating videos each camp week! 204 9-14 year-olds participated in our Spring, Summer, Fall, & Winter Youth Media Camps. 345 family members attended the weekly community/family camp screenings.

Adult Digital Media Workshops 464 Workshop Participants 108 Workshops presented to community members. The Digital Gym Facility in North Park New CDC Small Business Finance Loan secured to redevelop new space. 41 volunteers from Qualcomm Inc. & throughout San Diego community TAKE BACK THE ALLEY and create a new outdoor screening & community space. 430 plus attendees at 3 Blvd Bights events celebrating the businesses on El Cajon Blvd New upstairs editing suites & administrative space completed. 2 new workshop spaces created for campers and community members. 1 Cinema/Multi Purpose space created for community events & family screenings. 1 new “Green Screen Production” room developed. New membership computer bar & lounge completed. New ADA restroom created.







CREATE & PRODUCE Supporting local filmmakers & producing stories about San Diego communities for the past 13 years. In 2012, MEDIA ARTS once again supported the production of new works and created new videos for many community partners to help them tell their stories. Video Production Services This year Media Arts Center’s Video Team has moved forward in forging new & strengthening partnerships with the San Diego Union Tribune, San Diego County Registrar of Voters, Harder & Co., VoiceofSanDiego.org, MCRD-MCCS, and many other local and state organizations. Our shoots brought us all the way to Sacramento and back to San Diego Comic-Con and of course to Media Arts Center’s own San Diego Latino Film Festival. Many thanks to our partners as we move forward to another year of producing great content. VPS trained emerging community videomakers and at the same time brought in over $100,000 back into MACSD’s education programs and services! Fiscal Sponsorship Program Over $96,000 was Generated in 2012 for local San Diego filmmakers and Film Production via MEDIA ARTS’ Fiscal Sponsorship Program; now celebrating 12 years! 33 Community Videographers rented Video Production Equipment from MEDIA ARTS.
