wen and Toby are happily married and, after several miscarriages, are finally expecting their “rainbow baby.” When Gwen’s twin brother moves in after a nasty divorce, a chain of events lead to tragedy and a new understanding of the secrets we keep from our loved ones. MARISSA ALANIZ (Playwright) is a Latina actor, writer, director, and burlesque performer based in NYC, though she splits her time between both coasts. Originally from San Antonio, TX, she earned her associate’s degree from the American Academy of Dramatic Arts (Los Angeles) and her BFA in drama from NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts, where she also minored in Linguistics. She can currently be seen in Ned Record’s feature length thriller The Dark Places, which is due to arrive on Amazon Prime soon. She can also be seen in the upcoming film Find Her, which is set to be released later this year. As a writer, her work can be seen at several festivals in NYC, including the Broke People Festival and WinterFest. Marissa is also a trained singer who is proficient in rock, pop, musical theater, and opera. In 2020, she co-founded the Imaginarium Theatre Company, a non-profit dedicated to inclusion, sustainability, and social justice. She is thrilled to serve as vice president of the Board of Directors and hopes that the work done by Imaginarium will help shape the world of theatre.

DEBBIE BRILEY (Stage Manager) is a native of North Carolina but now calls Orlando home. She is a Theater Arts graduate of East Carolina University. She moved to NYC after receiving an internship at The Juilliard School. As a lighting designer and stage manager, she freelanced throughout NYC in Off Off-Broadway theater productions. As assistant to the managing director of Circle in the Square Theatre, production highlights include: The Rose Tattoo by Tennessee Williams starring Mercedes Ruehl, The Shadow Box by Michael Cristofer starring Marlo Thomas & Estelle Parsons; and The Grandparent Connection starring Sherry Glaser, Leonard Nimoy & Ben Vereen. Also while in NYC, Debbie studied under Broadway lighting designers Jennifer Tipton and Howell Binkley; as well as, participated in a workshop at NYU.

MICHAEL GENIAC (Toby Blau) Instagram: @g_niac, TikTok: @g_niac_ At ten years old, Michael purchased a Hi8 camcorder using earnings from Christmas Carol. He then performed consistently in shows at Theatre Downtown, The Civic Theatre (REP), Orlando Shakes, Ice House, and more. He continued his acting training at Dr. Phillips H.S. before attending University of North Carolina School of the Arts to complete his senior year. Michael earned his B.F.A. from California Institute of the Arts, has written and performed for Upright Citizens Brigade, Second City, Hollywood Improv, The Pack Theater, iO, REDCAT, The Blank Theatre, SAK Comedy Lab, and once left his keys at Drew Carey’s house. This performance is dedicated to Brendan Crich.

W

hen Eric’s twin sister Ava disappears from his life, he uses his skills in robotics to create a replica based on the data she has left behind. As Ava-22’s machine learning progresses, Eric is at first comforted by having his sister back in his life, then dismayed as he discovers that the artificially intelligent version of Ava has no need for him. Goldfish Have No Memory asks whether technology can mitigate grief and what it means to truly know someone.

PAULINE DAVID-SAX (Playwright) is a playwright, children’s book author and educator living in Brooklyn, NY who focuses on (re)constructing missing or neglected perspectives in order to tell more complex stories. She was awarded the 2020 Jane Chambers Prize and was a 2020-21 Henley Rose finalist. Her plays have been selected for Centenary Stage Company’s 2021 Women Playwrights Series, Women’s Theatre Festival’s 2020 Occupy the Stage festival, and the 2020 Players Club of Swarthmore New Play Festival. Her picture book Everything In Its Place is due to be published by Doubleday in Spring 2022. Pauline is a member of the Dramatists Guild, SCBWI and Honor Roll! (an advocacy group of women+ playwrights over 40.)

MONICA LONG TAMBORELLO (Director) is a director, actor, and teaching artist who has worked with Orlando theaters and schools for over twenty years. Directing credits include: The Woodstock Tontine, My Life As You and Eggs on Ice with the Women’s Voices Play Festival, The 19th Amendment Project, Rapture Blister Burn, Grounded, and A Short History of Nearly Everything (Mad Cow Theatre); After Orlando (ATHE Conference 2019); Othello, Henry V, The Winter’s Tale, As you Like It, Twelfth Night, Much Ado About Nothing, Macbeth, and Hamlet (TYC/Orlando Shakes); and Number the Stars, A Little Princess (Young Actors Theatre, Tallahassee). She recently served as dramaturg for the original play, Familiar Kill, in Clamour Theatre Company’s Clay & Water 2021. Based in Washington, DC, production dramaturgy credits include Building the Wall (NNPN

Rolling World Premiere), All the Way, Disgraced, and Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner. Directing credits include Perfect Arrangement (world premiere); Pramkicker (DC premiere); Henry IV, Part I; Henry IV, Part II; Henry V; Domestic Animals; Ajax; and The White Devil. I

n Defense of Ourselves occurs across three crucial time periods for Black America. Mary Church Terrell and Ida B. Wells-Barnett prepare for the Women’s Suffrage March of 1913. In 1954, Mary and her grandson protest segregated eating establishments in Washington, DC., one year before Emmett Till’s lynching and eleven years before the Voting Rights Act of 1965. The play concludes on November 9, 2016, when a conversation between two women leads to clarity after a recent turn of events. NIKKI BRAKE-SILLÁ is a playwright and filmmaker. She is the Founder of DrAW (Dramatists At War) and an inaugural member of Jouska PlayWorks. Nikki’s full-length plays include Trouble of the World, Finalist (Terrance McNally Award, Lark Apothetae, Space on Ryder - Family Residency), Semi-Finalist (O’Neill, Bay Area Playwrights Festival), Dear Ann, Residency (The Mitten Lab), Semi-Finalist (Premiere Stages), In Defense of Ourselves, Commission (Philadelphia Women’s Theater), and GTFOH. Her full-length narrative, A Weathering was a Semi-Finalist (Middlebury Scriptlab) and Second Round Selection (Sundance Narrative Lab). L&D a one-hour pilot was a 2021 Semi-Finalist (The Orchard Project and Middlebury TV Scriptlab). A.M.A. - AGAINST MEDICAL ADVICE (monologue) selected for Annenberg’s Screening Scholarship Media Festival 2021 and Semi-Finalist (The Black Motherhood & Parent New Play Festival). She has received funding from The Sachs Foundation, RECPhilly – Black Music City, The Puffin Foundation, The Lark, the Princess Grace Foundation, the Leeway Foundation, and the Regional Center for Women Artists. AMBER JACKS (Mary Church Terrell) Amber, a Washington D.C. native, relocated to Orlando in the 90’s to sing for Walt Disney World with the elite vocal group the “Voices of Liberty” in Epcot’s American Adventure Pavilion. She appeared in multiple Broadway style musical theater roles for the Disney Cruise Line in the first cast of the Disney Wonder. Amber has studied through various acting classes and workshops in Orlando, has filmed various background and featured extra roles in films and commercials and has acted in various staged productions. In addition to her on stage talents, she is in love with the creative process. Amber has had roles as a talent wrangler, stage manager, and production assistant. She has worked in costume design and construction, in addition to prop design and construction for theatrical productions.

ADRENA WILLIAMS (Dramaturg) is a freelance dramaturg based in West Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Adrena received a B.A. in English from Temple University, and completed her Master’s Degree in Theatre at Villanova University. In Philadelphia, she has served as a production dramaturg with Drexel University, Simpatico Theatre, Inis Nua Theatre, People’s Light, and InterAct Theatre Co., among others.
