To help evoke a sense of home most of the rooms contain different photographs and artwork of different outdoor scenes. Having local artists show their work can help the patient have a sense of community in the space. The pictures also connect the patients to nature.

Cellient is a woven textile that incorporates proprietary infrared fiber technology that promotes energy and causes less fatigue while sitting.

Senses used here are sight, smell, and touch. This is seen through the fireplaces, interesting textures and nature wall decals that also connect the user into nature and incorporate biophilia design.

A combination of cool and warm colors in each space evokes different feelings and stimulate different senses. Warm colors can be stimulating and make a space feel warmer, therefore, promoting my idea of the five senses and a sense of home. The cool colors seen in each space are to evoke calmness and be soothing.

Wayfinding is seen here on the flooring with the different colors. The green flooring in the acute care rooms acts as branding showing a mountain range that is also seen in the logo. The ceiling feature above the nursing station also provides wayfinding with smooth lines and organic forms connecting back to the concept. The numbers on the rooms help patients and staffs easily find the rooms as well.

Acute Care Room

Warm colors used to evoke a feeling of home in acute care. This can keep people calm and comfortable and not overwhelmed.

Research shows that although users enjoy gardens in healthcare the city noise or high traffic can prevent the feeling of calmness desired. The solution was raising walls and incorporating greenery throughout.

Cool colors in the gym are to help reduce stress and create a calming environment.
