DISINFECTION IN MARITIME TRANSPORT
from MAEM MAGAZINE 8
by MAEM
The global pandemic threat has made us all start to look closely at hand hygiene. In this difficult time more important than usual. The need is the mother of the invention, and in a short period of time many different disinfectants have been developed for various industries or medicine.
The product intended for our nearest marine industry was created thanks to the invention of the Mergi company, which owns the MarineSept brand. Mr Tomasz Reszka, Renergi's sales manager, will tell us about it in short. Where did you get the idea of developing liquid for transport?
The common denominator connecting the founders of MarineSept is their love of transport. Our career paths have been linked by one of its more spectacular and exclusive branches, namely sea transport. Here we have friends who, just like us, are calmed down by the breeze of the sea. Here we have partners who, like us, know the hardships and dangers that accompany shipping professionals on a daily basis. Not all problems can be solved but some of them can be dealt with. We believe that by working together on solutions we can make our lives better and, above all, safer. We have decided to take a professional look at hand hygiene during our daily work in transport. We are all aware of the importance of this issue and we know from our experience how difficult it is to take care of it. Inspired by the pristine Scandinavian nature and the cleanliness of the seas there we have found an effective solution to one of the
important issues we all face on a daily basis.
What risks do transport workers face, especially international transport workers?
International transport is particularly dangerous in epidemiological terms. Harbours, transshipment stations, public toilets or canteens are concentrations of bacteria and viruses from all over the world. The organism shows less resistance to bacteria and viruses which it does not encounter on a daily basis and which stand in its way during exotic journeys. Frequent changes in the environment, lack of sleep, changes

in time zones, that is to say, aspects inherent in transport are conducive to a decrease in our body's immunity. For most microorganisms, the hand flora is a perfect place to multiply. Our organism, left without help, is not able to cope on its own.
What are the special features of MarineSept?
MarineSept hand disinfectant is a solution created for the transport industry. Our daily hand disinfectant is manufactured in Europe, based on a unique formula developed in Scandinavia. MarineSept has a Biocidal Product Authorization No. 6491 issued by the Ministry of Health, confirming the biocidal effectiveness against bacteria and viruses found in all climate zones of the planet.
