PIP PEOPLE IN PRINT
Nottingham based specialist systems distributor and service provider ArtSystems has announcd the promotion of both Tom Goddard and Robert Durrant to new senior roles within the business. Tom Goddard will take on the role of Supplies Manager for ArtSystems, while Robert Durrant will move into the position of External Media Account Manager, encompassing all media ranges supplied by the company.
Tom has been with ArtSystems for eight years, developing his role within the business from Account Management to Product Specialist. In his new role, he will take over the day to day management of the internal supplies team.
As Supplies Manager, Tom will continue to carry out his existing product specialist functions, as well as look after other members of the ArtSystems supplies team. Tom will be uniquely placed to feed up to date market trends and intelligence into the supplies team that will help ArtSystems capitalise on opportunities sooner.
“This is a very positive development that will improve communication and allow us to be much more proactive,” ArtSystems Marketing Manager John Draycott says. “It is incredibly gratifying for me to have worked with Tom over the years and watch his career develop.”
Robert is also a long-serving member of the ArtSystems team, having been with the business since ArtSystems took over the UK distribution of Neschen Supplies almost 10 years ago.
His focus was initially working with end users to sell the Neschen brand and over time this role has extended to also cover resellers, allowing him to form many key relationships that have proved to be successful and incredibly valuable to ArtSystems.
“Robert has clearly demonstrated the ability to take on new responsibility and his passion and enthusiasm for the business never dwindles,” John Draycott adds.
“He is the ideal person to use his skills and experience to lead and showcase the whole range of media that we have. I’m delighted to see Robert take on this additional responsibility as his career moves forward.” www.artsystems.co.uk
PHIL FOSTER HEADS SOLOPRESS BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT
Solopress has announced the appointment of Phil Foster to the role of Head of Business Development, reporting directly to MD Simon Cooper. Phil started his career in the print industry over 35 years ago as a plate maker in pre-press, before making the move into sales. Since then Phil has held a variety of roles, building a formidable reputation within the industry. Following a stint running his own litho printing business, Phil cemented his position as a recognised figure in the print world during a successful seven year spell as Senior Sales Executive at Saxoprint.
Phil’s role at Solopress will span both on-boarding new business and maintaining key relationships. In addition to identifying businesses that could benefit from working with Solopress, he’ll also work with those businesses to make sure they get the most out of the relationship.
Solopress MD Simon Cooper said of the appointment: With his vast experience in our industry, Phil is the perfect fit for this newly created Head of Business Development role. Not only will print buyers learn more about how our current catalogue can support their business, but we also hope to identify areas where new products and variations could better meet their needs.
Phil Foster commented: I’m thrilled to be joining Solopress at this exciting point in their journey. I prefer a consultative approach over the hard sell, and I’m happy that I’ll be able to put my print knowledge to good use as I introduce the business to new customers.
Phil’s appointment is part of an on-going programme of recruitment and investment by the Essex based printer that will see them expand their payroll, plant list and square footage yet further within the year. www.solopress.com

Tracy brings a depth of experience to the role, with more than 25 years spent in the print industry, working for leading brands including EFI and HP.
On joining Soyang, Tracy says: “I’m really excited to be joining the team. One of the main attractions of the role was to be working with a business that has a customer-centric philosophy and a history of account based marketing. This is at the heart of Soyang Europe’s success and growth in the UK.
“With the synergy of machinery and media being critical to a customer’s success, the draw to join Soyang and to genuinely focus on the long term relationship was key to my decision. It’s an exciting time and I am sure that we will present as the partner of choice for the industrial end of the market.” www.soyang.co.uk
