The Rotary Foundation (TRF) was started with an endowment fund pooled by Rotarians in 1917,

today, after 95 years, the TRF continuously works with Rotarians worldwide in advancing world understanding, goodwill, and peace through the improvement of health, the support of education, and the alleviation of poverty. What better way to learn more about TRF but through the eyes of one its scholars. Meet our Magical Speaker for tonight:

PDRR CATHY GONZALES Myreza Catherine S. Gonzales, a name that resonates to the world of education and service, better known by her nickname “Cathy.” She graduated MAGNA CUM LAUDE with a degree in Secondary Education from the University of the Philippines-Diliman. She has been connected with top educational institutions in the country namely, Kumon Philippines, Inc., MIT International School in Alabang, and Reedley International School in Quezon City. This year she co-founded Lux Mundi Training Services a company engaged in providing quality development seminars for students and professionals. In the world of Service, Cathy started in the Interact Club of Pio del Pilar High School in Makati, sponsored by the Rotary Club of Makati. She was sent by the said club in a life changing conference in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. This experience leads her to crave for more service opportunities. The right opportunity came when the RC Makati tapped her to re-energize the Rotaract Club of Makati in 2005. Together with family members and

close friends from her church community, they made the club into one of the strongest and best clubs in District 3830. Her enthusiasm to serve and outstanding leadership did not go unnoticed by her peers. She was elected to become District Rotaract Representative of RI District 3830 for two years in a row! Her gains as a DRR led her to be elected as the Pilipinas MDIO Chair for RY 2011-2012. During illustrious term, the 10 districts of the Philippines united to organize the First Pilipinas Rotaract Conference. But the crowning glory of her term is the great news from Rotary International that all districts have complied with the requirements to finally forms PILIPINAS MDIO. Her heavyweight status (figuratively), reverberated all over the world when she was tasked by Rotary International to be a facilitator for the 2012 RI PreConvention in Bangkok in 2012 and when her home District. RID 3830, selected her to be part of the historical batch of the Group Study Exchange Team to the UK in October of 2012.

A MAGICAL ENCOUNTER IN MALAYSIA It was a magical Malaysia Sunday as we welcomed 30 child refugees and their elders from Myanmar at the Royal Selangor Visitor Center in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia last November 4, 2012. The excited kids learned more about the company who creates the most exquisite gifts made of pewter. The Rotary Club of Manila Magic supported this outreach activity of the Rotaract Club of Subang, RID3300 by sponsoring the breakfast of the attendees and the volunteers. After the tour, the kids were given to chance to write essays that narrates their wishes for the future. VP Oliver Alvarez together with the Rotaractors from RAC Manila and District 3300 enjoyed the entire morning with the children.
