The Sealy News: Division 35 West Newsletter | August 2024
WHAT’S UP SEALS!
Happy August seals! Welcome to the fourth issue of The Sealy News. I hope your summer treated you right. I can for sure tell you that I had an amazing one! I went through this awesome internship at my city’s city hall in their finance department and it’s definitely going to be one of my core memories. The mentors and experiences I gained were amazing and I hope I get to do something similar in the future! Other than that, I hope you enjoy the newsletter! Welcome back to school sealies!

SEALS! HAPPY AUGUST
School is officially BACK in session which means lots of organization, football games, and unfortunately stress. Make sure you are all prioritizing yourself and your mental health! Don’t let assignments build up and always be willing to ask for help! With this being said, also remember to have fun. You are only a teenager in high school for so long. Continue being active within your club and the division as we move through the school year. We have many events planned for you to have fun but to also be productive and get service hours in. Remember, your LTG will always be here for you! Please feel free to email me or message me if you need any assistance, advice, or even just want to chat! I am always active on my socials. Stay tuned for upcoming events seals!

Arcadia | Shepherd’s Pantry
HEY HEY HEY SEALS! On 7/9, I attended Shepherd’s Pantry with some of our fellow D35W sealies. We arranged meals into paper bags, organized foods onto their shelves, managed their refrigeration units, and last but not least, finally gave out each bag to the families in need. This was my first time volunteering for this event, and I’m definitely going to come here more frequently! I loved working and chatting with all the cheerful staff, while also putting a smile on people's faces!

ngel Award Ceremony
On August 2nd, 2024, our officers attended the City Angel Award Ceremony hosted by our Kiwanis Club to honor John Fasana. During the event, we had the opportunity to assist guests by guiding them to their seats, serving them food, and distributing raffle tickets for exciting prizes. Our officers also enjoyed connecting with officers from other clubs in our division, such as Mt. View and CSArts. This event was a wonderful opportunity to strengthen our relationship with the Kiwanis Club, and we look forward to similar events in the future.

For the month of July, D35W hosted the Summer Olympics, a perfect summertime event, as the DCM consisted of games such as tug of war, a water balloon toss, capture the flag, a water balloon fight, and volleyball. As the majority of the schools of the division were present, the DCM was a lively event. With a consistent attendance at division events, our home club, Los Altos High School, was recognized! aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
“Glendora | Elim Pantry
In alignment with their goods distribution every Saturday, Glendora Key Club has been helping out at Elim Pantry! We checked in families, packed boxes with goods, and gave them to those in need. In doing so, our members ensured families received essential supplies all while strengthening our community ties. We’re excited to continue supporting Elim Pantry’s efforts each Saturday morning!

On July 12 our officer members along with some club members helped out our community while also fundraising for the club. The event was held at our local park by our Kiwanis Club of Baldwin Park. In the event Sierra Vista Key Club had fun selling concession snacks, the event helped with funding leadership training and social service projects. Besides serving a great time for our city we fundraised a good amount which will help with cutting down the price for the membership fee for our incoming members this upcoming year.
