Hello,
my name is Maitén Rodriguez. I’m an architecture student from Argentina.

I perceive architecture as a reflection of the society in which we live in. Society is continually changing and evolving. Architecture needs to be reevaluated constantly to be adapted to these changes.
I like to incorporate new tools everyday, as well as learn most of the skills that are going to allow me to express myself regardless the society I’m living in, while still being truth to my roots.

WEIGHTLESS
WW STEEL DESIGN COMPETITION - 1ST PLACE
FALL 2021 - 6 Weeks - Revit, Photoshop/Illustrator, Lumion
A “floating” building,
seen from below.
I wanted to create a sense of weightlessness by elevating the terminal building, while preserving the ground plane free of obstructions for people’s use and vehicular circulation. Just like an airplane, people can see the building from below and contemplate how its steel structure works to hold the weight of the FBO terminal.
Even when steel is a heavy material, the building is still able to separate itself from the ground, just like airplanes are able to fly while holding their own weight.

AN AUTHENTIC ITALIAN EXPERIENCE
FALL 2022 - 8 Weeks - Revit, Photoshop/Illustrator, Lumion
A stadium-building experience should be about the before and after a big soccer match, and it should not become a dead zone when the stadium is closed. If there is no activity on the soccer field, the neighborhood can still take pleasure in its surroundings.
The major goal of this design concept was to make it possible for the entire site to become part of the community’s everyday life and activate the zone, not just on game days, but everyday of the year. The design is meant to improve the experience of visitors and the local community; this starts with the stadium grounds and continues inside the stadium.
Any time, any day, local families and town visitors are welcome to spend time at the stadium plaza because the design has created a place for people to meet and get away from the busy downtown area of milan.

A MOMENT OF PAUSE
GLENN PARTNERS DESIGN COMPETITION - HONORABLE MENTION
SPRING 21 - 5 Weeks - Rhinoceros 6, Photoshop/Illustrator
The space created under this marquee is an outdoor space that does not feel as part of the sidewalk, but instead, it creates an experience that makes people stop for a moment, and enjoy the theater even if they’re not inside the theater yet ...it creates a moment of pause.
I wanted to recreate that moment of pause. A transitional process from the busy city to the inside of the building, the user is outside the building while experiencing a different feeling from being just standing on the parking lot, or sidewalk.
This giant marquee functions as an architectural element that not only creates an space outside the entrance, but it also pulls people to the inside of the building.

After analyzing Deep Deuce district at the heart of Oklahoma City, I became inspired by the marquee located at the entrance of Aldridge theater. It is interesting how this marquee creates an outdoor space that feels as if it is separated from everything surrounding it, but it is still a part of the whole. This giant marquee functions as an architectural element that not only creates an space outside the entrance, but it also pulls people to the inside of the building. There's a floor to ceiling opening at the entrance that eliminates the boundary between the inside and outside. The entry contracted under the marquee, but when move to the ramp, or the studio, the spatiality changes and the space expands. The interior plan of the building also contributes to this concept of pulling people to the inside, section, and experience

The interior plan of the building also contributes to this concept of pulling people to the inside, since it enlarges, in plan and section, and it creates a complete different spacial experience in each space.

THE COMMUNITY’S LIVING ROOM
Guthrie citizens define Guthrie as “family”.
Guthrie is a calm city. A place where everyone knows each other, a town where people can feel safe, where they can enjoy their families, and be part of a bigger family, called “Guthrie’s community”.
The visitor center developed from the idea of creating a community living room, a place where all citizens and tourists can come together and enjoy their “family” time. This place is welcoming and leads people in. The interior is cozy and contemporary. People can enjoy a warm cup of coffee by the fireplace and then watch the outdoors through floor to ceiling glass paneled windows while they learn about Guthrie’s rich history.
Red brick is used for the two main volumes of the building, while steel panels are used for the siding of the transitional volume. Traditional and contemporary materials come together to form a harmonized whole, where historical and new meet. Guthrie is a growing city and it is important to modernize the city while maintaining the historical aspect of the place.

ON THE GROUND
A collaboration with Isaac McCalip and Adam Romero
SPRING 22- 5 Weeks - Revit, Photoshop/Illustrator, Lumion
Responsibilities: Residential tower design, post production of renders and plans.
The word humble traces back to the Latin for “on the ground”. We want our design to be humble, modest, but still comfortable for the people who will be spending their time at this community space.
Architecture is sometimes seen as invasive, specially in a historical neighborhood like midtown Atlanta. The building’s design returns the architecture to the people of Atlanta. The design creates a healthy living environment while still committing to the needs of the under-served communities of Atlanta
This mid rise, mixed use complex is meant to be responsible, modest, respectful, unpretentious and grounded. This is a project meant to create change and innovation. This is architecture that can provide cultural impact and does not ignore the needs of the diverse and growing population that inhabits the city of Atlanta.
