Expo 2020 off to a quick start in Dubai
Expo 2020 Dubai has welcomed a total of 411,768 ticketed visits in its first ten days since the start of the world event on October 1st, 2021. Visitors belonged to 175 nationalities with one in three visitors having come from abroad.
The first World Expo to be held in the Middle East, Africa and South- Asia Region has attracted participation from 192 countries, each with their own pavilion.
The Kenya Pavilion is led by the Commissioner General and CEO of the Kenya Export Promotion and Branding Agency Dr. Wilfred Marube. Dr. Marube noted that “Expo 2020 Dubai is an exceptional event that has provided Kenyans with an opportunity to grow the economy and do business with the world. We will leverage on this Expo to position Kenya as a home of quality of authentic products and services, while deepening our trade relations with our hosts and the participating nations.” Feel the Energy

Recap: The week that was
On 7th October 2021, the Kenyan Pavilion at the Expo 2020 Dubai was privileged to host Ambassador Fatma M. Rajab, Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation in the United Republic of Tanzania. Ambassador Rajab was accompanied by the Head of Chancery (HOC), Embassy of the United Republic of Tanzania, Mr. Hangi Laban Mgaka among other key staff members from the Chancery and the Tanzania Pavilion.

The Kenya Pavilion received Azzedine Downes, the CEO & President of The International Fund for Animal Welfare IFAW, an organization whose mission is to rescue and protect animals around the world. IFAW’s aims to rescue individuals, safeguard populations, and preserve the habitat while making human connections. Mr. Azzedine visited the Kenya Pavilion on 9th October 2021 to explore the possibilities for cocurating on joint programmes in wildlife conservation at the Expo 2020 Dubai.
The Kenya Pavilion received a delegation from the UAE, Ministry of Interior, led by the Deputy Minister Major General Khalifa Haren Ali Khaili on 10th October 2021.

Additionally, the Pavilion also received the Chairperson of Esaad Committee Ms. Muna Mohammed Alamri. The Esaas Card is a loyalty programme that offers exclusive privilege, discounts and promotions to Government employees under the General Directorate of Dubai Police. This program aims to strengthen Institutional Loyalty and improve quality of life to promote employee happiness.

Upcoming Scheduled Visits to Kenyan Pavilion
The Former Prime Minister of Uganda and Special Envoy of H. E. The President of Uganda, Rt. Hon. Ruhakana Rugunda and his delegation, are expected to pay a visit to the Kenya Pavilion on Tuesday 12th October 2021.
Upcoming Events: Farm to Fork Conference 14th to 15th October 2021 at the Italian Pavilion On 14-15 October 2021, the European Commission will host its second “Farm to Fork Conference – Building sustainable food systems together”. This annual gathering of stakeholders, organised in the run up to the World Food Day, provides a forum for discussion on the challenges and opportunities linked to the transition to sustainable food systems. The Farm to Fork Conference 2021 will be a hybrid meeting with the majority of the audience joining virtually. It will focus on the progress made on the initiatives foreseen in the EU Farm to Fork strategy’s action plan, support the European Union’s (EU) efforts to achieve a global transition to sustainable food systems and put emphasis on transition enablers. Appreciating the global significance of EXPO 2020 in Dubai, the European Commission organise one session on the international dimension of food systems transformation in Italian Pavilion at EXPO 2020, on 14 October 2021, 18:20-19:20 Dubai time. The session bring together international actors to discuss global partnerships, trade and cooperation in framework of sustainable food systems. The speakers will include:
