KEPROBA CEO Dr. Wilfred Marube witnessed the handover of 170,000 liters of a pesticide that will aid in the fight against desert locusts in East Africa. Bayer East Africa donated Deltamethrin pesticide worth KES 100M to the governments of Kenya and Uganda. This product will be used to treat 170,000 Hectares of locustinfested land in the two countries. Dr. Marube thanked Bayer East Africa for the donation which will aid in the attainment of food security in East Africa.
Media Engagement and Partnership
As part of KEPROBA’s efforts to push the export agenda, CEO Dr. Marube was interviewed by CCTN Africa on Kenya’s participation in the upcoming CIFTIS (China International Fair for Trade in Services). China is a key trade partner for Kenya and is among the 22 priority countries that KEPROBA is focusing on to drive exports. The event was held from 3rd to 7th September in Beijing. Dr. Marube also attended an interview on KTN News on the Kenya’s export agenda. He shared insights on the Agency’s efforts towards positioning Kenya’s 19 prioritized exports in the 22 main targeted markets. Watch the full interview here https://youtu.be/IjaEWmkOAbg. A meeting was also held with the Kenya Broadcasting Corporation Chief Executive Officer Dr. Naim Bilal to discuss partnership opportunities in the promotion of Kenya’ exports.
Creating Synergy with Like-Minded Organizations

To create collaborating partnerships with like-minded organizations, Dr. Marube met with Kenya Trade Network Agency (KenTrade) Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Amos Wangora on 10th September to discuss how the two organizations can work together to support Kenya’s business community in trade facilitation. Kenya Trade Network Agency (KenTrade) facilitates trade through various channels including an online platform that serves as a single-entry point for parties involved in international trade and transport logistics. KEPROBA is working towards developing an E-portal platform for all the exporters.

Harnessing Technology to Drive Exports

KEPROBA leveraged on digital technology to hold the 37th MacFruit Exhibition online. The agency partnered with the International Trade Center’s SheTrades project which is an initiative that provides women entrepreneurs with a unique network to connect to international markets. Ten women exhibitors were hosted at KEPROBA’s offices at Anniversary Towers during the digital fair which included a display of agricultural products, inputs and B2B forums. The exhibition ran from 8th-10th September.
The Export Agenda 2020-2021
The Kenya Export Promotion & Branding Agency hosted a webinar on 23rd September 2020. The theme of the Webinar was “How to Build Resilience for the Export Sector Amid the Covi-19 Pandemic.” The Webinar was moderated by KEPROBA Chairman Mr. Jas Bedi and CEO Dr. Marube. The Webinar was attended by high level panelists. The Chief Guest was the Cabinet Secretary, Ministry of Industrialization, Trade and Enterprise Development, Hon. Betty Maina, CBS. In presence was also the Principal Secretary State Department for Trade, Ambassador Johnson Weru, Kenya Trade Network Agency (KENTRADE CEO, Mr. Amos Wangora and the Fresh Produce Exporters Association of Kenya (FPEAK) CEO Mr. Hosea Machuki , representatives from the Kenya Association of Manufacturers and KEPROBA board Members, The webinar had over 400 registered participants and 200 live participants.

SEPTEMBER 2020 ISSUE The Exports Mandate
Media plays a key role in informing, educating the public by sharing key information. Kenya Export Promotion & Branding Agency (KEPROBA) is working with the media to push the exports agenda through media interview/sessions. Dr. Marube appeared on KBC’S Good Morning Kenya breakfast show on 21st September 2020. The main topic of discussion was the organization’s mandate, achievements and future plans that aim to enhance exports growth.

Branding of Government Functions
Gusii Stadium, the venue of this year’s Mashujaa Day Celebrations
KEPROBA was represented on the National Steering Committee for this year’s Mashujaa Day Celebrations to be held in Kisii County. The inaugural committee meeting was held on 23rd September in Kisii County. KEPROBA has been tasked with branding the stadium during the event to be held at Gusii Stadium.
