Ross Restoration Maketewah Members, The Board of Directors would like to thank all those members who have given their time and effort over the last several weeks, months and years working towards the proposed “Ross Restoration”. We would also like to thank all those members who have supplied feedback through committee involvement, attendance at the town hall meetings, and personal interactions. Finally, we would like to thank all those members who cast their vote on the proposed “Ross Restoration” over the last four weeks. We received votes from 80% of the voting membership and the project received a 67% approval rating. The Board of Directors convened for a special meeting on Wednesday, June 30th and are pleased to announce the approval of the following resolution:
Resolution of the Board of Directors of Maketewah Country Club Whereas the Board proposed a capital improvement plan known as the “Ross Restoration;” and, Whereas the Board made available to the membership of Maketewah Country Club information describing aspects of the Ross Restoration via a 20-page publication (hereafter “the Ross Restoration Handbook” (also attached as Addendum A hereto)) and in 4 “town hall” meetings to which all members were invited; and, Whereas the Board solicited votes from eligible members as to their votes on “Ross Restoration” program, including the scope, budget, planned project delivery timelines, and the funding mechanisms (including the individual member options) (as reflected in the Ross Restoration Handbook (and further outlined below)); and, Whereas 80% of the eligible voting members submitted their votes, with 67% of the votes in favor of the Club proceeding with the Ross Restoration program; and, Whereas the Board of Directors has met and agreed that the following clarifications and supplemental information to the Ross Restoration program were already within the intention of the delivery, scope, budget, and funding plan of and for the Ross Restoration program: • The scope of the projects will not be materially revised, and if any such revisions are contemplated in the future, such revisions will be considered within the framework of the Club’s bylaws. • The minor capital assessment will not be assessed to the membership in 2022. • The monthly individual member Special Assessment Options indicated on page 18 of the Ross Restoration Handbook will be assessed for a maximum of 120 months. • The billing for the Special Assessment Option for the “Monthly Payment” will commence with the July 2021 statements. • The Special Assessment Option for a “One-time Payment” must be elected by July 31st, 2021, with the funds received by the Club, no later than August 20, 2021, with payment of the July statement. Should the Club not receive payment by the date of the one-time payment, then the Club will assume that the member has agreed to the “Monthly Payment” option. • A Special Assessment payment option of 2 equal installments will be offered and must be elected by July 31st, 2021. Installments will be billed on the July 2021 statements, with the funds received by the Club, no later than August 20, 2021, with payment of the July statement, and December 2021 statements with funds received by the Club no later than January 20th, 2022, with payment of the December statement. Now then, by the unanimous yea votes of the Board of Directors, the Board of Directors hereby resolves that Maketewah Country Club will proceed with implementing the Ross Restoration Program as declared in this resolution. ________________________________ Geoff Kuzio 3 President, Maketewah Board of Directors

Notes From Your...
The drawing starts at 2 pm on Monday the 5th!
Membership Director Dearest Maketewah Members! I am pretty excited for what the future holds for our club! Ross Restoration voting has concluded and it is a GO! I cannot wait to start seeing the clubhouse move into this next phase of life over the winter! As of now, construction of the interior of the clubhouse is set to start in January and set to be complete by March, just in time for the start of your 2022 season! Prior to the clubhouse renovation, we will start with adding an additional paddle ball court and adding 2 additional hitting bays to the practice center. Another exciting edition to your club that you may have already seen under construction, is the new pool bar that will have 12 seats! The absolute perfect spot to enjoy your margarita poolside! Regarding membership, we are still at a wait list of 22 members at the moment. Again, I always appreciate your kind waves and hello’s to prospects who you may see out on the course, in the dining room or touring the clubhouse with me. It sends a big message and helps them to understand the warm and friendly culture that we are so proud to have here at Maketewah. Enjoy your 4th of July holiday, enjoy the warmth and sunshine every minute possible and stay safe out there! See you around the club soon.
Warm Regards,
Melissa Paule

Fitness 101 by Paul Bodenbach I’m often asked at what age is it safe for children to do weight training types of exercise. This is a touchy subject for me which I’ll explain later. The truth is, as we develop from birth we are enhancing our body’s strength as we grow. Some of the first movements directly related to strength gains are control of our head, the ability to roll over, crawling and walking. We then develop additional strength through activities of daily living, much of it in the form of active play. With that in mind we must understand activity is key to good health throughout life. Unfortunately, advances in technology has changed our lifestyles to become more sedentary and much less active. But, lets get back to the original question. Youth strength training and conditioning can begin at around 7 or 8 years of age. However, exercises should be body weight and endurance oriented. The greatest emphasis in developing a program for young athletes is it needs to closely mimic activities of their sport, be fun for them to do and attention to proper technique in each exercise throughout the duration of the exercise is premier. Once the athlete reaches puberty a weight program oriented to increasing muscle mass can begin. At that time their body will begin producing hormones that will enhance muscle mass. They will be able to better utilize the foundation of strength gains and technique training done prior to this point to enjoy desired gains in strength. Here’s the touchy part. There’s always someone out there that thinks their smarter than human physiological and psychological development. They’re going to train their child harder to get a leg up on the competition. They remember the way they were trained in high school or college and they’re going to do the same for their child at a young age. In so doing they may cause physical injury. In most cases however, they cause psychological damage. Playing and training has become like eating vegetables. They don’t enjoy it and cease to do it. So, please find a fitness expert versed in exercise programs for children that will emphasize the fun in training. This will help the youngster develop a positive attitude toward exercise for life.
