2017 was a year of sustainability, innovation, and artistry for MUD Cosmetics. We continued to lessen our imprint on the environment by implementing refi llable containers and eliminating many of our single-use compacts. We reduced our reliance on animal products by moving entirely to new high-performing synthetic fi bers for our brush line. In the coming year, brow creams and a new stackable palette system will join our line, and unique original artwork will adorn our product collections.

HELLO, REFILLABLES

Last year, we began the process of eliminating our single-use compacts for eye colors, cheek colors, cake eyeliners, and correctors, and introduced refi llable compacts. The magnetized base allows you to drop the product-fi lled pan directly into the compact. Each pan is sold in a lightweight recyclable clamshell that contains far less plastic than the old compacts. Once the product has been used up you can toss the pan into the recycle bin, and the concept of reducing waste is complete. In addition, our new Universal Palette is eco-friendly. This palette is made from paper and has an open format so you can place a variety of pan sizes in the unit.

GOODBYE, NATURAL BRUSHES

In the past, make-up artists thought the best powder brushes were made with natural hair. In fact, most artists could not imagine using anything else. Today, we are fortunate to have high-end synthetic fi bers that can be used in place of traditional natural hairs. Our 600 series brushes are made from a proprietary blend of superior quality synthetic fi bers. They are 100% vegan and have an ultra-soft feel. These brushes inspired us to move forward with replacing our entire line of natural hair brushes. This special blend of synthetic fi bers mimic natural hair so well that many of our instructors and make-up artists prefer them to the original versions. They provide a more consistent and reliable fi ber source, which makes them an ideal solution to the ever-changing availability of natural hairs.

We always consider ideas for new products, but we prioritize products necessary to complete the line. For the past several years, MUD has been researching and developing a series of uniquely formulated eyebrow creams. We found the need for a mirror was outweighed by the need to see the product, so we eliminated the mirror and created a clear detachable lid. Durable, hidden magnets were added to each corner of the base so the palettes could stack easily and save space. Sleek and expert approved, this palette takes convenience to the next level.
