Hi! I am Manahil. I’m a 21 years old Industrial Design student from Pakistan currently in my final year of Bachelor’s. I love everything to do with Industrial Design and Packaging and I feel a true devotion towards integrating the local craft from Pakistan into my ideation and problem solving approach.

REHBER Designing a new reception for SADA
“ How can we redesign the
SADA reception so that it is user-friendly and is able to guide new-comers properly? �
SADA is an architecture and design school but the usual faculty and students do not approach the reception because they know the architecture of SADA well. New-comers are mostly repairers/ plumbers etc. who are not extremely technology literate.
PROBLEM
Information Architecture of the existing receptions was identified; including their usage, the stakeholders involved and the interaction points of those stakeholders in the entire building.
Different kiosk designs (real and concepts) were studied to understand the HCI, GUI and general design and ergonomics principles employed into kiosk design.
RESEARCH
Surveys were conducted in order to understand the different characteristics of the users of the reception.

SOLUTION
The final design is a kiosk in which one the intercom button lights up on approach of a person and when the button is pressed a call goes in the Admin office to obtain permission. After talking a perrson may take a map from the map holder for guidance. For daily passers by such as students/ faculty; they just swipe their NUST card at the RFID reader and the sliding doors open for them.
