STAKEHOLDER ANALYSIS STAKEHOLDER #1 Local shop owners

WHY ARE YOU ENGAGING THEM? o

Contribute to economy of the suburb

o

Provide public surveillance through windows, etc.

o

Own private property that may be part of development plan (e.g. – service lanes, shopfronts etc.)

COLLABORATION o

Planners – collaboration to ensure that development does not adversely impact local business.

o

Residents – valuable customers, need to work together to facilitate exchange of resources and boost economy of the suburb.

o

Maribyrnong City Council – collaboration on imposed health and safety regulations and other legal aspects that local businesses need to adhere to.

CONFLICT o

Department of Transport – conflict of interest, for example, in cases of on-street parking, redeveloping roads that affect shopfronts, etc.

o

Rough sleepers - local shop owners may find them ‘interrupting’ their space and thereby negatively impacting their business

HOW WILL YOU ENGAGE WITH THEM? o Consult – need to be consulted by planners and council on development strategies that may directly/indirectly impact their business. Can be done by - conducting workshops and brainstorming sessions - surveys, social media

WHY ARE YOU ENGAGING THEM? o

In charge of public transport, road network services

o

Need permission and consultation to implement development involving roads, trams, buses, cycles and train infrastructure and services

COLLABORATION o

Planners – collaborate on design strategies that would not negatively impact transport routes, inconvenience commuter service.

o

Commuters – to ensure, for any disruptions to public or road transport service, there are alternative routes and options for commuters.

o

Maribyrnong City Council – cooperation in terms of considering and implementing changes to property that is part of council and may affect the community.

CONFLICT o

Local shop owners – conflict of interest, for example, development that would redirect foot traffic, change shopfronts which would negatively impact business

o

Rough sleepers - in waiting areas and places of active movement, there is no loitering allowed and this is made evident through hostile architecture.

HOW WILL YOU ENGAGE WITH THEM? o Collaborate, Empower – collaboration and decision making power when interacting with planners and council when any development considered impacts vehicular or public transport routes or infrastructure. Can be done by - conducting meetings and collaboration sessions - consulting existing transport planning schemes
