Deck platform can be used for sitting, lying down, leaning against the wall, and so forth, and positioning of wall enables greater interaction with wall itself.

Deck boards have gap of 6 mm nominal between them to allow water collected to drain from deck surface; it also ensures that gap is not too wide for person to trip over.

Opening wide enough for person to walk through promotes interaction not just between the 2 parts of deck divided by wall, but also with wall itself.

Opening wide enough for person to sit in - provides shade and a sense of privacy.

Deck frames properly capped for additional stability.

Stairs located at the ‘back’ of deck (see partial site plan for orientation) to enable a complete deck and wall sight from front view, thus partially hiding staircase from view to viewers from the front.

Timber boards nailed to the edge of deck boards, joists and bearer ends to frame the deck and protect joist and bearer edges from weathering.

Timber boards nailed to concrete stairs for proper finishing - they now match the look of the deck.

F14 unseasoned timber bearers (strength group S4) used for its greater strength, ability to bend lesser under stress and because it is cost effective.

Perspective 1 Display Mode Layout to InDesign - Perspectives Layout Size: 200 x 120

Minimal cantilevering of joists over bearers to enable nailing of capping boards for deck edge finishing.

Concrete stairs to be capped by timber deck boards for proper finishing.

F14 unseasoned timber joists

Engaged brick pier used in place of stumps to support bearers due to its proximity to brick wall.

PERSPECTIVE 1

Deck height at approximately 50 cm from ground line enables for it to be used as a platform as well as a seating structure.

PERSPECTIVE 2

Deck boards nailed to edges of joists and bearers to provide proper edge finishing and protect the exposed cut surfaces of joists and bearers.

Deck boards have gaps of 6 mm nominal to prevent water from collecting on the deck surface.

Perspective 3 Display Mode Layout to InDesign - Perspectives Layout Size: 200 x 120

Engaged brick pier underneath for support

Concrete stairs capped with timber boards for proper finish.
