The City of Manassas Park, Department of Parks and Recreation is committed to the provision of quality leisure services for the residents of Manassas Park. Over the years, through the many changes the City has endured, the Department of Parks and Recreation has responded to the growing needs of the community by continuing to support the Governing Body’s vision to be the “Premier Northern Virginia Community to live, work, and raise a family”. POLICIES Registration Registration is on a “first come, first serve basis.” You will only be notified if the class/program is cancelled. Late registrations may be accepted if space is available with no reduction in fee. We encourage registering online at www.ManassasParkCommunityCenter.com. Forms & Fees Each class/program must be accompanied by payment. You may register and pay for classes online at www.ManassasParkCommunityCenter.com or in person at the Community Center located at 99 Adams Street, Manassas Park, VA 20111. Checks are to be made payable to “City of Manassas Park.” There is a $50 returned check fee for any check returned by the bank. All credit card transactions are assessed a 3% + $0.30 fee. Cancellations The Department of Parks and Recreation reserves the right to cancel any class/ program which does not meet the minimum enrollment. All programs with insufficient enrollment will be cancelled 5 days prior to the program start date. PLEASE REGISTER EARLY! Non-City Residents Most of the fee based classes/programs are available to non-city residents at an additional fee. Please see the individual class/program for additional information. Inclement Weather In the event of inclement weather the Department of Parks and Recreation will follow the local government cancellation schedule. If classes/programs are cancelled, every attempt will be made to re-schedule the class/program. Participation The City of Manassas Park, Department of Parks and Recreation, classes/ programs/events/facilities are open to all individuals regardless of race, color, national origin, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, or disability. Every reasonable effort will be made to provide accommodations based on individual need. Blooms Park is a passive park with approximately 3.39 miles of challenging and rough terrian trails. Blooms Park emphasizes a connection with nature. These small parks, ranging in size from a quarter acre to one acre, are located in the residential neighborhood of the western area of the City and primarily service the residents local to each site. Block Parks are open year round from 7:30 am until dusk.

Costello Park
INFORMATION The Manassas Park Dog Park features a large and small dog run for your pets to exercise and interact in a safe environment with other dogs • Hours: 8:00am-Dusk • Dogs must be current on all vaccinations. • Dogs must be leashed when entering and exiting the dog park. • For the safety of your dog(s) and other park visitors, choke, prong (pinch), and spike collars are strictly prohibited. If you use these types of collars, remove them before entering the park. • No children under the age of 16 are permitted unless accompanied by an adult. Children have a tendency to scream and run when excited, which can trigger a dog’s prey drive or natural instinct to chase. For this reason and for the safety of your children, we do not recommend bringing small children and infants into the dog park. • Aggressive dogs are not permitted on the premises. Dogs must be removed at the first sign of aggression. • Female dogs in heat are prohibited from entering the park. • Dogs over six months must be spayed or neutered. • Dog owners must be in the park and within view of their dogs at all times. • All off-leash dogs must be under voice control of their owners. • Dog owners must keep their leash in hand at all times. • Please do not bring dog food into the park. • Owner must clean up dog feces. Seal waste in the provided bags before disposing in designated receptacles. • Fill any holes your dog digs. • Proof of a current rabies vaccination and license is required upon request of a police or animal control officer. Tags may serve as proof. • Failure to abide by the park rules may result in loss of privileges or owners may be ticketed. • Use of dog park is at owners’ and pets’ risk. *Park occassionally closed during normal hours for maintenance and special events.

HISTORICAL SITES
INFORMATION Hours: Monday-Closed, Tuesday-Friday-10am-8pm, Saturday-Sunday-1pm-5pm Located amid the walking path and green space at a transitional facility in Bloom’s Park. Signal Hill Monument
A nationally registered historical landmark, this 13-acre monument site is located in the eastern end of the City, adjacent to Signal Hill Park. Signal Hill is open year round from 7:30am until dusk.
Camp Carondolet
A nationally registered historical landmark, this 8-acre Civil War encampment is located in the Blooms Crossing subdivision adjacent to Cougar Elementary School. A series of nature trails are available to the public year round from 7:30am until dusk.
The Georgia Cemetery
Included in the Camp Carondelet nomination is a Civil War cemetery located in the direct vicinity of Camp Carondelet in the Blooms Crossing subdivision.
The Union Mill Trestle
A key structure in the Civil War, this is located in the last few remaining acres of the once Union Mill Park near the VRE lot and General’s Ridge Golf Course. This site is not accessible to the general public.
All parks and facilities are open to the public and may be scheduled for specific use through the Parks and Recreation Department. The rental application is a request only, not a guarantee. A Rental Request Application is required for all facility reservations. Special Permits, in addition to the Field Use Application, may be required for after hours events, special events, or group use. Payment must accompany a Rental Request Application. The Department does not accept tentative reservations. Cancellations must be made at least 10 days in advance in order to receive a refund for outdoor rentals. Applications are available at the Manassas Park Community Center. All rentals are subject to availability and must be booked and paid for 10 days in advance of event. Certain restrictions may apply. Deposits are a one time refundable fee. Restrictions may apply. Field Application: Athletic fields and park grounds are available for rental between March 15th – November 15th to registered leagues and group users. Cost for permits vary on the type of usage and the duration of the request. All spring field usage requests are accepted beginning February 1st of each calendar year for a March 15th – June 30th spring season. All fall field usage requests are accepted beginning July 1st of each calendar year for an August 15th – November 15th fall season.

Senior Strength and Stretch
Aquasize
Senior Yoga
Get ready for some great abdominal exercises to strengthen the muscles of the core, spine, and torso. Improve your body’s overall functional strength, balance, and coordination! This class provides a low-impact, full body exercise while helping you tone your muscles.
Beginner Yoga
Beginners Yoga will cover the fundamentals of yoga poses and breathing techniques. This class will also focus on strength and flexibility as well as breath awareness and relaxation.
Body Sculpting
A lightweight dumbbell workout moved to the beat of the music. Burn calories as you flow through a variety of exercises to sculpt and tone your body! You’ll notice improvements in your muscle tone, posture, balance, and strength.
Boot Camp
Boot Camp is designed for those desiring to increase cardiovascular fitness and increase muscular strength more efficiently. Boot Camp is for the beginner to the advanced enthusiast. Work out in a team environment while challenging yourselves with others to reach your personal fitness goals.
Designed to help seniors improve their cardiovascular endurance and muscular strength. Medicine balls, dumbbells, exercise bands, and stability balls will be incorporated into this functional, exciting, and low impact class. This gentle yoga class is for individuals 60 years of age and up. Senior yoga will help to increase mobility, inspire tranquility, and promote an overall sense of well being.
Zumba®
ZUMBA® is a program that fuses Latin and International music and dance themes that create a dynamic, exciting, and effective fitness system! The routines feature aerobic/fitness interval training with a combination of fast and slow rhythms that help to tone and sculpt the body. It provides a mixture of body sculpting movements with easy to follow dance steps.
Yoga Flow and Yin
This is a combination of gentle vinyasa flow yoga and yin yoga. Tune in to your body and breathe to synchronize breath and movement as you learn to mindfully engage your muscles to support your body with integrity.
Buddy Yoga
Buddy Yoga will focus on the foundations of yoga while providing plenty of modifications for physically or cognitively disabled adults.
Functional Fitness Flow
In this low impact aqua class, we will use functional exercises to improve your ability to perform everyday activities at home, work or play for years to come. We will use the resistance of the water to challenge the muscles of the body while allowing the buoyancy to ease the strain on the joints. Our goal is for you to remain independent, active, and injury free by increasing muscle strength, balance, flexibility and range of motion.
Kickboxing
This exciting, fast paced, upbeat class is a fusion of boxing, martial arts, and aerobics, all performed rhythmically to music.
Restorative Aquafit

Participants must attend complete the online portion of the course prior to the first day of the class in order to participate. Prerequisites include swimming 300m, treading water for 1 minute without the use of hands, and a timed event. MPCC Indoor Pool Information The Manassas Park Community Center natatorium is an NCAA short course certified indoor pool consisting of eight 25 yard lanes, a zero depth entry, and a spa. The pool temperature is maintained at a comfortable 82˚F. Kick boards, pull buoys, and life jackets for patrons are available for use while at the facility. Certain areas of the pool may not be open for public swimming due to swim lessons, group exercise classes, or league rentals.

Extended Care follows the licensing standards of the State of Virginia, Department of Social Services. Our Before and After School Care is for children in Kindergarten through 5th grade attending Manassas Park City Schools. We offer themed activities, which include arts and crafts, games, sports, and swimming in a fun, supervised environment! Before School care operates from 6:00am-7:30 am. After School Care operates from 3:10pm-7pm. At no additional cost, teacher work days, school breaks, and some holidays are covered by full day care from 6:00am-7:00pm. Manassas Park Teen Passport Welcome to the Teen Passport specifically for teens in 6th-12th grades! The Teen Passport membership is $20.00 per month. Teens can earn points toward their Teen Passport each month with good grades, community service, and by volunteering. When a teen earns 20 points, their next month is FREE!

Teen ID Policy: Teens between ages 12-15, including those without memberships, will need to be issued a Community Center Teen ID in order to access the facility without a parent or guardian. Teens will be required to leave their ID at the front desk when they enter the building and retrieve it when they exit the building. Teens who do not retrieve their ID when exiting the building must pay a $5.00 drop-in on their next visit.

Circuit Workout Has quarantine prevented you from working out? Now that the Community Center is open, stop by for a full-body circuit workout. It can be intense or light, depending on how hard you push yourself. We will provide you with a log to keep track of your progress.

In this program,, youth will learn about topics such as decision-making, critical thinking, etiquette, managing money, jobs to career goals, time management, choosing the right friends, and community service.

(Grades 6th-8th) MP3 (Manassas Park 3 O’clock Club) is a nonlicensed program operated by the City of Manassas Park, Department of Parks and Recreation. The program is lightly supervised for your teen to have a safe and fun place to be after school. The program emphasizes recreation with creative programs and materials that encourage and invite participation. Recreation Leaders guide students in activities that allow the participants to learn. Teens will choose independent activities or participate in group activities that are fun, safe, and challenging. MP3 is hosted Monday-Friday during the school year from 2:45pm-7:00pm. Transportation is provided from Manassas Park Middle School to the Community Center. MP3 does not meet on holidays or teacher workdays. Must pre-register.
◊Naginata◊ (Ages 14+) Naginata is an ancient Japanese weapon used by Samurai men and women. This class is taught by Sensei Djinn and will teach you the martial art form of Atarashii Naginata. All experience levels welcome. Loaner equipment is available. A onetime registration fee of $60 is required. Sessions are held monthly. The Sunday class will meet every other week. $40/Month

All equipment and uniforms must be purchased through WCRB Karate. $50/per month for one class a week; $80/per month for two classes a week.

Park Laborer: Responsible for all outdoor park maintenance including mowing, trimming, trash pickup, and other projects. Must be able to work at least 25 hours per week. Must be at least 16 years old. Starting at $12/hour. Lifeguard: Monitors patrons and enforces rules at Signal Bay Water Park and the Manassas Park Community Center. Provides first aid to injured patrons. Must be able to pass prerequisite swim test. Lifeguard certification may be obtained, free of charge, through the department. Must be at least 15 years old. Starting at $11.25/hour. Head Lifeguard: Monitors patrons and enforces rules at Signal Bay Water Park and the Manassas Park Community Center. Supervises up to 11 employees during their shift. Must have a current lifeguard certification with at least 6 months of experience and ability to obtain a PWC Pool Operator’s certificate. Must be at least 17 years old and able to work at least 20 hours per week. Starting at $13/hour. Water Safety Instructor: Must be proficient in multiple swim styles. Must be able to teach small children how to swim, while physically in the pool for prolonged periods of time. Must be at least 16 years old and able to obtain the American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor certification. Starting at $20/hour. Rental Specialist: Provides rental support by setting up rooms for rentals, cleaning up, and breaking down rooms. Applicant must be able to repetitively lift up to 50lb. Must be at least 18 years old and able to work Friday and Saturday nights. Light custodial work required. Rentals are often scheduled past midnight. Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus. Starting at $15/hour. Fitness Attendant: Provides safe and proper instruction for all training equipment. Promotes all current and upcoming fitness programs, provides exceptional customer service, and maintains a clean and secure workout environment. Must be able to work nights and/ or weekends. $11-13/hour. Teen Recreation Leader: Works with teens at the Community Center and Teen Center. Helps plan and lead programs and activities. Must be at least 18 years old. Up to $13/hour.
School Age Camp Leader: Provides direct supervision to participants in our summer recreation camps. Camps will be held at the Community Center. Camp leaders will direct games and activities. Must be at least 18 years old. Up to $13/hour. School Age Camp Aide: Works in conjunction with Camp Leaders and helps direct games, activities, and provides assistance to our summer camps. Must be at least 15 years old. Starting at $11.00/hour. Athletics Camp Leader: Provides direct supervision to participants in our summer sports camps. Camps will be held at the Community Center. Camp leaders will direct games, activities and work in conjunction with the hired camp professional (i.e. soccer, basketball coach). Must be at least 18 years old. Up to $13/hour. Athletics Camp Aide: Works in conjunction with Camp Leaders and helps direct games, activities and provides assistance to our summer camps. Must be at least 15 years old. Starting at $11/hour. Gym Supervisor: Provides a quality experience to members in the gym and is responsible for overseeing all aspects of gym participation, equipment usage, and responding to issues that may arise. Must be at least 16 years old. Up to $13/hour. Recreation Services Programs Instructor: Seeking instructors for various programs such as crafts, athletics, and culinary. Salary is based on experience. Must be at least 18 years old. Cashiers (Signal Bay Waterpark): Must be at least 16 years old and be able to provide good customer service. Cash handling experience preferred. Bilingual a plus. Starting at $11.50/hour. Admissions Aide (Signal Bay Waterpark): Must be at least 14 years old with an outgoing personality. The ideal candidate will be energetic and comfortable talking to adults and enforcing rules. Starting at $11.00/hour.
