from the president Your Chamber Tops the List - Thank You! The Manatee Chamber has once again been recognized as the largest Chamber of Commerce in the Tampa Bay Region according to a list published on July 1, 2022 by the Tampa Bay Business Journal. The Manatee Chamber was so proud to have 2,036 businesses and organizations as members when the Journal conducted its research in June. We are honored to once again be at the top of the list because it speaks directly to the strength and involvement of our local business community. It is your support that makes the difference! “There is incredible value and opportunity that comes with membership,” said Rick Bisio, owner of The Educated Franchisee and the 2022 Chairman of the Board of the Manatee Chamber. “The influence of the Manatee Chamber starts with our role and responsibility as the voice of business in our community. We have more than 2,000 businesses – from across the greater Manatee County region - informing and supporting that voice. We offer connections and programming unlike any other organization.” As you read through the Current magazine this month, you'll find opportunities to engage, to connect, to give back, to learn, and to celebrate. It is your investment in the mission of the Manatee Chamber that makes it possible. And, we want to do more! This month we will wrap up our annual membership survey. Please take 10 minutes to share your feedback and help us strategize on priorities to deliver an even greater ROI for you, your team, and our community.
Chairman of the Board Rick Bisio hosts roundtable discussions throughout the year to hear from members about their challenges, opportunities, and successes. We enjoyed hearing from North County members in June and our Anna Maria Island members in July.

Volunteers Needed for Big Bank Theory
Help High School Seniors Strengthen Their Financial Literacy Skills through a Fun, Hands-On Activity The Big Bank Theory teaches teens the importance of budgeting, saving money, and prioritizing spending decisions. During the program, students are engaged in a hands-on, real-life financial simulation that introduces them to the realities of being financially sensible. They gain valuable experience paying bills and making daily decisions that are essential to being a responsible adult. Making wise financial decisions and learning the importance of budgeting is one of the many reasons the Manatee Chamber partners with the School District to offer The Big Bank Theory.
WE NEED YOU!
More than 200 business volunteers are needed to reach all seniors at our seven Manatee County high schools. You do not need a financial background/experience to be a great volunteer! We make it is easy and multiple dates and times are available. Volunteers will be given all program materials and training at orientation sessions.

Congratulations!
The Manatee Chamber named its 2022 Champions of Healthcare at a wonderful awards breakfast on June 16. With a crowd of 350 people in attendance, our event honored 81 nominees, 21 finalists, and 11 award winners. “We received tremendous support for the Champions of Healthcare Awards again this year,” said Jacki Dezelski, President and CEO of the Manatee Chamber. “We celebrate the important work so many people, programs, business and institutions are doing in Manatee County to support healthcare access and delivery, particularly work that is above and beyond anyone’s ‘day job’. The awards are designed to recognize impact, excellence, and dedication. The Champions of Healthcare Awards has become a signature program and this year’s event is a testament to the amazing work being done in our community. We were moved to tears because of the generosity and service we heard about during the program.”

coffee club It was our pleasure to host the May Manatee Chamber Coffee Club! Conley Buick GMC Subaru is a 3rd generation family-owned business and is proud to be a part of the fabric of this community. For the Conley family, it’s more than car buying. It’s building relationships, community contribution, and impacting lives. We would like to thank each and every one of you who attended the event. It was so good to see all of you and have the opportunity to network and visit with fellow chamber members. Hosting the Manatee Chamber Coffee Club at our new state-ofthe-art Subaru building was such a pleasure. The Conley group was joined by nearly 100 Chamber members who were able to enjoy the facility and one another's company all while enjoying breakfast by Cracker Barrel Catering. Conley has continued its commitment to this community. In February, we sponsored the Conley Invitational Southeast Finals Bullriding and are looking forward to continuing all of our annual events. Look for us out in the community supporting events dedicated to the environment, pet adoptions, running events, breast cancer and Toys for Tots. If you did not have the opportunity to join us for this event, we hope you will stop by Conley Buick GMC Subaru and see the new facility for yourself. In addition to featuring artwork by two local artists (definitely worth checking out), the facility is now ready for the future with state-of-the-art charging stations for EVs being launched now, including the HUMMER EV. Come see us at Conley where you receive the Conley Lifetime Limited Powertrain Warranty with your car purchase and “Where We Treat YOU Like Family!” CONLEY BUICK GMC SUBARU 800 Cortez Rd. AMAZING! FABULOUS! IMPRESSIVE! These are just a few of the words attendees used to describe the 26 West Center at State College of Florida on the Bradenton campus. The spectacular 40,000 square-foot building was created to develop people, grow businesses, and drive the local Manatee County economy. The mixing, mingling, and networking took place in the Launch Pad of the 26 West Center. The two-story high open atrium was the perfect backdrop for what was a mini “Taste of Manatee County” with breakfast bites from other Manatee Chamber member companies. After the event, attendees were treated to a tour of the 26 West Center including highlights about each of the seven business services that are open to the public. The 26 West Center business services include: • Business Growth Lab – Office space available to rent on a month-tomonth basis • Student Incubabor - Home to the SCF Entrepreneurship Club • Entrepreneurship Academy – Workshops and classes taught by successful entrepreneurs; one-on-one coaching is also available • Personal Branding Lab – Classes, workshops, and one-on-one discovery sessions for entrepreneurs, career changers and job seekers to help them achieve their personal and professional goals • The Digital Collective – The student-staffed digital marketing agency provides services to businesses and not-for-profit organizations • Creative Studio – Complete video production studio equipped for a live studio audience, live streaming, and location shooting as well as podcasting • SCF Coding Academy – A unique learning hub that offers industryrecognized certifications with software developer bootcamps and technology classes as well as camps for children Coffee Club was the perfect way to welcome the Manatee community to experience the 26 West Center.

business after hours The Blue Door Spa & Salon was thrilled to host the June Chamber Business After Hours Social event. Everyone was warmly greeted by a Blue Door staff member and given a tour of this beautiful, almost 4,000 square foot space. Although the Blue Door Spa & Salon has been a Chamber member for over 16 years, many of the members had not been to Blue Door, so it was wonderful to see such a large turnout. Nicky Nagy, owner and president of the Blue Door, gave a vibrant speech welcoming everyone and discussing the amazing happenings at Blue Door. An exciting new expansion of the Hair Department is in the very near future and Blue Door cannot wait for everyone to experience it. Nicky also shared about her honeybees and her very own honey that she sells at Blue Door. Chamber members enjoyed a delicious food table prepared by host, Nicky, along with delightful desserts. Drink Bars were a highlight as they served a signature “Blue” cocktail along with wine, beer, and other beverages. As usual, outstanding door prizes were won by many members and the Blue Door vibe was perfect for a successful Business After Hours. Nicky and the Blue Door team thank all who attended and look forward to pampering you all in the future.
