You will also leave inspired by the dedication and accomplishments of individuals committed to leaving a legacy of leadership that extends well beyond themselves.
Stronger Together
The challenges of the past several months, with three hurricanes affecting our region, have proven once again that we are stronger together. The Manatee Chamber has been a constant source of timely, accurate information and support. That work continues today as the hardest-hit businesses in our area navigate recovery. We are here every step of the way.
Many Chamber members have asked how they can support local businesses that are still struggling to recover. To help these businesses stay connected and utilize Chamber programs and services, we have launched our #ManateeStrong campaign as an opportunity to support engagement opportunities and membership assistance for impacted businesses and nonprofits. Want more information? Give us a call at 941-748-3411.
A full recovery for our region will take time - and it will require all of us to focus on ways to shop local, invest locally, and double down on our commitment to supporting small businesses, in particular.
Thank you for being a vital part of our Manatee Chamber family. Your support and leadership are greatly appreciated and it is an honor to serve your business. On behalf of our Board of Directors and staff, I extend warm wishes for a joyful holiday season and a prosperous new year.
From our Chamber team to you - happy holidays. We look forward to serving and supporting your business in the new year and beyond. #ManateeStrong

Volunteers Needed for the Big Bank Theory
Help High School Seniors Strengthen Their Financial Literacy Skills through a Fun, Hands-On Activity
The Chamber's Big Bank Theory program teaches teens the importance of budgeting, saving money, and prioritizing spending decisions. During the program, students are engaged in a handson, real-life financial simulation that introduces them to the realities of being financially sensible. They gain valuable experience paying bills and making daily decisions that are essential to being a responsible adult. Making wise financial decisions and learning the importance of budgeting is one of the many reasons the Manatee Chamber partners with the School District to offer the Big Bank Theory.

Reflecting on Resilience: A Year of Challenges and Triumphs
A Message from Our 2024 Chair of the Board Janelle VanHoose,
As we say goodbye to 2024 and begin to usher in 2025, I can’t help but reflect on my time as Chair of this great organization. Our community has faced a number of challenges this year with multiple hurricanes impacting many of our Chamber members both on a personal and professional level. Although there are challenges that remain, the resilience and interconnectedness of this community has been demonstrated over and over again by businesses supporting businesses and individuals and businesses showing up to meet the need whatever the need may be. As Helen Keller once said, “alone we can do so little; together we can do so much.” Being a part of the Chamber and connected with its members has given me an opportunity to connect with my community while at the same time gain lifelong friends and mentors along the way.
The stated mission of the Chamber is “to build a positive business environment while enhancing our community’s quality of life.” It is so important to find those people that challenge and inspire you. For those of you who have attended anything I have spoken at, or been part of any meeting or event that I have led or hosted this past year as Chair, you’ll know that I have thanked you for sharing your time with us because time is your most valuable asset. Although we measure time, science lacks a good explanation for the purpose and meaning of time. Wikipedia simply defines time as the “continued sequence of existence and events that occurs in an apparently irreversible succession from the past, through the present, and into the future.” Stephen Hawking simply defined time as something that is always moving from the past towards the future.
Regardless of how you define time, we can all agree that once a minute passes, it’s gone forever. As my term as Chair draws to a close, you’ll see I chose to include my family on the cover of this issue of the Current. This community is where we choose to raise our children, form lifelong connections, and work to create an even stronger and thriving community for those that come after us. Someday those of us in leadership will be handing the reins to the next generation. It is more important than ever that we
Esq., Esposito Law Group
Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much.
- Helen Keller “ ”
not only create an environment where the next generation can thrive now, but that we provide motivation and pathways for those that come after us to continue to make this community one we are all proud to call home. Collaboration, connectedness, and being engaged are absolutely critical to maintaining a vibrant community. As Abraham Lincoln once said, “[t]he best way to predict the future is to create it.” Thank you for allowing me the opportunity to create that future with you as your Chair this year.
With heartfelt gratitude from my family to yours, we wish you a wonderful holiday season and the best of things in 2025 and for many years to come.
Our Board Chair, Janelle, has dedicated her tenure to fostering community and diversity within the Chamber. From her first major event at the annual dinner with her family, to honoring excellence with Dr. Bill Colgate at the Champions of Healthcare Awards, and engaging with the Executive Committee of the Manatee Young Professionals, Janelle's time as board chair has been well time well spent, exemplifying our commitment to connecting and supporting our vibrant community.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for our Member Appreciation Cookout at the Chamber's Lakewood Ranch office. John Rice and his grill team served up delicious hot dogs and brats, donated by the Pittsburgh Pirates, and gave away a brand new Weber Lumin Grill to one of our Manatee Chamber Ambassadors, Phil Stark with Synovus Bank!
We shared a lot of laughs and enjoyed spending our Friday afternoon with so many friends. This was a wonderful opportunity to show our appreciation for your investment in the Manatee Chamber and your continued support of our mission.
