More than 300 Manatee Chamber of Commerce members have recognized the value of investing in BBC membership. Our BBC Advisory Committee undertakes a meticulous screening process for each business applying for membership, ensuring that only qualifying candidates are approved.

How Can the Better Business Council Help You?

The Better Business Council (BBC) is a program of the Manatee Chamber of Commerce that offers referrals for local businesses that are members of the Council, acts as a resource for consumers, and publicizes important scam information. Here are just a few ways we can help you get the answers you need:

• Local Business Referrals

Consumers can contact the BBC for referrals of local businesses. BBC members have been pre-screened and have publicly pledged to adhere to a higher standard of business and we proudly refer business their way.

• License Verification

Not sure if your contractor is licensed or required to be licensed by the State of Florida? Call the BBC or contact the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulations at 850-487-1395 or www.myfloridalicense.com.

• Resources for Insurance Requirements

Make sure your contractor carries the correct insurance for the type of job required. Are they required to carry insurance and what type of insurance do they have? Do they carry insurance on their commercial vehicles and/or Worker’s Compensation insurance? The BBC may be able to answer these questions or direct you to the right resource.

• Comprehensive Directory for the Products and Services You Need

The BBC members listed in this Directory are committed to delivering a higher standard of business. They have been diligently screened for license and insurance requirements and have signed a customer service pledge to secure the Better Business Council seal of approval. A BBC member business is one you can feel good about doing business with.

• Scam Awareness

The BBC collects data from other organizations, publishes the most recent scams and may be able to answer your questions on how to proceed if you think you’ve been scammed.

What Does it Mean to be a Better Business Council (BBC) Member?

Members of the Manatee Chamber of Commerce who have been in business locally for at least 12 months are eligible to apply for membership. Businesses must submit a completed application including license and insurance information, local references, and a signed agreement pledging to adhere to the BBC “Code of Ethics”. Each application is thoroughly reviewed, all information is verified, and references contacted prior to membership approval.

We encourage Chamber members to join the BBC to stand out among their competition and to let consumers know they are committed to delivering the highest level of customer service.
