Here for Your Business
As this issue of the Current magazine was ready to go to print, Hurricane Ian had its sights set on the gulf coast of Florida. We were unsure of how our area would be impacted as there was still uncertainty in the final path of the storm even 24 hours before landfall. What was certain was that your Chamber - partnered with so many others in the community - would be here to help residents and local businesses recover. The response and leadership from state and local governments and agencies has been incredible, as has the commitment and selfless service of first responders, utilities, law enforcement, healthcare, school districts, non-profits, and so many others. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!
People and businesses in our community have varying levels of damage to deal with in the coming weeks and months, and there is measurable loss of business. Areas in the eastern portion of our county have experienced historic flooding, including many in agriculture/farming. Hurricane Ian was a storm unlike most of us have ever experienced, but most of our area was spared the widespread, completely destructive effects that our neighbors to the south, in particular, are now facing. The outpouring of support that people, businesses, agencies, and non-profits are offering to the most devastated areas of our region is overwhelmingly gratifying and inspiring.
We had time to pull just a few pages of this issue of the Current to update post-Ian. We will be sharing lots of recovery information via email, our website, and social media. As needs arise, please use the Chamber to make connections and gather information on recovery resources. A huge THANK YOU to everyone who has lent a hand to help your neighbor, contributed manpower, funds, or items to support recovery efforts.
We are here for you because of you. Thank you for the investment you make in the Manatee Chamber to enable us to harness the power, knowledge, resources, and influence of more than 2,100 local businesses - in good times and in the worst of times. We are proud to be your partner.

Help High School Seniors Strengthen Their Financial Literacy Skills through a Fun, Hands-On Activity

During the program, students are engaged in a hands-on, real-life financial simulation that introduces them to the realities of being financially sensible. Making wise financial decisions and learning the importance of budgeting is one of the many reasons the Manatee Chamber partners with the School District to offer the Big Bank Theory.

Congratulations 2022 Small Business of
The 42nd Annual Small Business of the Year Awards, held on August 18, celebrated many small businesses and non-profit organizations that strengthen our community and make our region a special place to live, work, play, and own a business.
“Local businesses and non-profits are an integral part of the fabric of our community. This year’s Small Business of the Year honorees are doing incredible work to support and expand our local economy, and ALL are to be commended,” said Rick Bisio, The Educated Franchisee and Chairman of the Board of the Manatee Chamber. “Each exemplifies the diversity, spirit, and communitymindedness that make Manatee County special.”
The Manatee Chamber is pleased to celebrate this year's award winners!
Grivas Law Group
Dr. Paul Grivas, Owner
SMALL BUSINESS ~ CATEGORY I
Grivas Law Group has a corporate mission to ensure that every customer receives the highest quality of personal attention and professional service. Serving the public and providing complimentary services to those who need them is a big part of Dr. Grivas’s business model.
Whether his clients need personal or business assistance, Dr. Grivas says, “Customer interests come first, no matter what.” He has spent more than a decade protecting the estate and property rights of his clients, and is experienced in a number of fields, including estate planning, probate, real estate, and intellectual property, environmental, health, family, corporate and contract law.
Honesty, fairness, building goodwill, and delivering value stand out among words that others used to describe this winner. One of our awards judges said, “This winner is a delight. Character and competence come out when speaking with him. Dr. Grivas builds trust with clients and with our community.”
Excellence Performance
Tammy and Tony Daum, Owners SMALL BUSINESS ~ CATEGORY 3
Pineapple Kitchen
Jenny and Mike Schenk, Owners
SMALL BUSINESS ~ CATEGORY 2
This winner’s priorities are rooted in top-level customer service – with a focus on compassion, courtesy, and hospitality to create a unique experience for all of their customers. Their philosophy is simple: work hard, have fun, learn from your mistakes, and celebrate successes.
Having launched their business in 2019 as a manufacturer, within the first year Pineapple Kitchen expanded to include a retail model. Not long after that, they added educational programs so that they could teach others the joy of their craft.
Now known for its Tasting Room, Gourmet Market, Kitchen Kids Classes, and Culinary Theater events – Pineapple Kitchen's growth, and success, is the result of the desire to show hospitality to family and friends, especially when it comes to food!
Jenny and Mike Schenk believe that giving back to our community is also an integral part of who they are, and they do so by supporting local charities, school fundraisers, hospitals, and first responders through their volunteerism and philanthropy.
Excellence Performance is focused on the impact they make for their clients, delivering results for their customers and creating value for our community. One of the things that stood out to the judges in this category was how much this business values their employees. What the pandemic has shown Tammy and Tony Daum is that in a world where everyone is busy, burnout is real. Caring for our team means changing the industry norm to create a culture that focuses on true work-life balance.
These owners lead by example. They enforce hourly caps for all employees and guide their team members on how to create and maintain boundaries in and out of the office when interfacing with clients. In the words of owner Tony Daum, “We have a team of rock stars where each team member is brilliant in their lane and invaluable in their role.”
Whether you attend their seminars, sign up for one-on-one coaching, or enlist them to create customized trainings for your staff, you will experience first-hand the commitment they have to impacting everyone they touch. Their mission is to empower people to be strategic team members and leaders that change the world for greatness.

In the past year, Adept Audiology developed an annual “Healing the Children” campaign to collect and donate hearing aids to children in Guatemala. coffee club
The Inspiration Academy faculty and staff were delighted to have the opportunity to host the July Coffee Club for the Manatee Chamber. Inspiration Academy is a 6th – 12th Grade transformational school who is focused on the development of a student’s mind, body, and spirit. It was great to see so many Chamber members step onto our campus for the first time and learn more about who we are.
This is what we like to tell prospective students" Let yourself imagine a community that cares about your success in life, and not just school, a place where you are more than a test score or statistic. What if you found a school where your teachers, peers, and mentors were committed to your success?
Inspiration Academy is more than just a school. It is a community that really cares about you and wants to do life, school, and everything in between with you. At IA, success is built from the inside-out through an innovative mentorship and character development program. Small class sizes and flexible learning options ensure academic excellence. Parents, staff, and students come together to create a warm and supportive community. Welcome to your future!
On behalf of the Girl Scouts of Gulfcoast Florida, thank you for joining us for August's Coffee Club and providing us with the opportunity to showcase Camp Honi Hanta’s beautiful 120+ acres.
It was inspiring to see the wonderful turnout for this event thanks to the hard work of those at the Manatee Chamber. Thank you for all that you do to support our community and bring us together.
We look forward to exploring our future partnerships and connections as we continue our efforts to provide opportunities for the youth in our community and tomorrow’s workforce.
Girl Scouts' focus is creating a community of sisterhood nationwide that paves the pathway to prepare girls for a lifetime of leadership. At Girl Scouts, girls are encouraged to discover who they truly are in a safe, all-girl environment designed specifically to help them grow and cultivate necessary skills to take the lead in their own lives, their community, and the world. Girl Scouts aims to provide girls with a strong foundation to react to adversity with great strength and resilience while striving to make the world a better place.
GIRL
business after hours
Thank you all for allowing us to host August’s After Hours networking event. It was our pleasure having you visit our establishment and showing you who we are and what we do. We believe in providing a wonderful customer experience - one filled with transparency, respect, and empathy. We are over 70 men and women coming from all walks of life for one mission, to be the best Used Car Dealer in Manatee County.
We hope you had a wonderful time getting to know us, sharing some vibes and good food. We enjoyed meeting all of you and appreciate being a part of your community.
We opened our doors on March 17, 2021, with 12 very inexperienced salespeople and two managers. April 2021 was our first full month. We sold 380 vehicles becoming the #1 Volume Used Car Dealer.
We call ourselves the “The Nation’s Used Car Destination.” We have sold thousands upon thousands of vehicles since the Fishers founded the company in 1994. The story is they used their wedding money to buy two vehicles. History was made. Since then, we have sold vehicles to people in every state in the union as well as several countries. Through all our success, what we hold close to our heart are our 100k+ 5 Star Reviews. We take pride in how our customers feel about us and it shows by the repeat customers we have.
We would love to show you individually how we do business. Please stop by and be greeted by one of our friendly staff members. We are open 7 days a week, 9am-9pm Monday through Saturday and 10am-8pm on Sunday. For your peace of mind, we offer a 5 Day/500 Mile Exchange policy. For any reason whatsoever, you can exchange the vehicle you purchased within 5 Days and 500 Miles.
It was a privilege and honor to host September’s After Hours event at our training facility. A big shout out to Connie Farmer with Inspire Me Boutique for helping serve, Apple Spice for amazing food, and Ashley Grover with Grover’s Axe for providing entertainment with axe throwing! It was great to see people participating in the interactive stations performing CPR, using an AED, and the ever-popular trainer we use for relief of choking. That was a big hit! We chose the month of September to honor all those lives lost on 9/11 and to all those who were there to help in all ways. One of those was our Dad. To those who were able to visit him while he shared his stories in our 9/11 room, thank you!
If you are interested in holding a class for staff, family, or community, we do travel to your location without any additional travel fees. If you would like more information on classes available, please give us a call at 941-727-3664 or email at: Info@letscpr.com. You can also visit our website: www.letsavelives.com.
We hope you enjoyed your time, made lots of connections, and won a door prize! Thank you to the best Chamber there is and to Amanda Clover with the Chamber who helped make this event a success.
Thank you, Rick and Ruth Landes
