01 . BAUHUB 2049 (PENANG SERIES) Designing the Future Hub of Design Education to Support Social Sustainability Schools and educational spaces are a crucial part of our investment in the future. Education equips locals with the tools required to develop innovative solutions to the world’s greatest problems. The classroom today is developed from the past and to meet the need of the current century. Schools, universities and other educational institutions all require an architecture that enables a productive learning environment. But architecture also has a role to understand the changes in the society and to design learning spaces that can interact with and promote a sustainable culture of usage. This research topic studies the possibility of architecture role in creating radical educational spaces to solve issue resulted from the behavior of the future society (such as digitization) in

THE CURVE HAUS Resident For The Developing Artists Located right opposite Dong Xuan center, an interesting Asia wholesale market in Berlin, it is the chosen site for a new atelier. Namely the Curve Haus, offers a contemporary style, but not out of the place with other artists’ district; a visual connection to the street balanced with privacy; shared facilities; atelier: fusion of artists’ studio & living area; connection of atelier to an open exhibition area; and lush greenery. The resulting layout is reminiscent of double inverted S-curve, alternating between interior and exterior spaces. Divided into 4 courtyards: the first curve facing the main road house the facilities open to the public, following by shared facilities open to the artists. The inner courtyard houses the curve for ateliers.
17
Because the main floor of the atelier is elevated above grade, it allows for occupants to observe the street but remain private, creating a sense of prospect and refuge in a dense urban setting. There are 4 types of ateliers designed and cater to demand and lifestyle of artists with different background. However, they share one same similarity: the art studio, which occupies a double height space, is adjacent to the main living area, but sunk a half level to help establish a separation. The goal here is to maintain a connection between the two primary occupants as they live their lives in the home. This became a theme for the all the ateliers, creating a visual connection from one point in the house to another point, often through a framed view of the landscape.

URBAN URCHIN FACTORY Modern Industrial Building Typology With the rising of the 4th Industry Revolution, it is time to use technology innovations to create a smarter factory to attain a sustainable future. To design a smarter factory, it is to achieve the aim of agile and flexible spatial design in the factory itself. In this project, a new floatin factory typology is designed for Cressi, largest manufacturers of water sports equipment in the world. There will be modular assembly and aggregation of highly individualized units of manufacture. In other words, the factory is formed by multiple modules, that are ‘PLUG-IN’ to each other. It is in fact a constantly evolving megastructure where it changes and adapt according to its function & time. With that, module of related (or non-related) units can be brought together to form
31
larger aggregates, broken apart and reconfigure to create infinite number of combinations and possibilities to collaborate. The modules, or the architecture, it self will become the building. The new industrial depot will be the new headquarter for our client. The research & innovation, production facilities, management, logistic and other departments will gather here. Furthermore, the land and the sea will mark as the site for the project. It ‘manufacture’ during the ‘transportation’ on the sea and the land. Other than that, it will be the new community hub for its surrounding where you can collaborate with the customers, vendors and guests from all over the world.

EPIC-HYPTECTURE A Vertical Agriculture Tower In Your City With increasing population in the urban area, we intend to create an iconic steel structure designed for vertical farming supported by a farmer’s market (pasar) downstairs, set in the city of Kuala Lumpur (KL). It is a sustainable, scalable, opensource vertical farming system and solutions that can be shared by the community. On top of that, urban agriculture supports

the market with products that do not need to be transported. This reduces carbon emission in transporting crops to urban areas. Meanwhile, food is produced local, safer and healthy. Controlled environment also reduce the need for pesticides.
